Great video. The part where you mentioned Crysis being all about "how you play it" got my attention. I just wonder why Far Cry 2 never really caught on with this concept well. I really think, though, that Call of Duty's "how you play it" factor shines in its multiplayer.

Call of duty 4 has not such a intresting and fun campaign but incretible multiplayer. Crysis has a fun and exiting campaign but the multiplayer isn'd all that good but this is just my opinion. :)
This video speaks truth and I applaud the creator for taking the time to make it. I liked both games but given the choice I would rather play Crysis. The gameplay is more dynamic and I have much more control of the outcome. CoD4 was fun but it was basic: Go from A to B and kill everything in your path. Crysis had the same dynamic but the difference is that you get to choose how you get from A to B. You got to choose how you killed everything in your path. And then you had to do something at B.

I just love crysis, whenever I want a "new" game I just play it lol. It's the best looking game I have. I guess the whole problem is the presentation. Everything was pretty flat in crysis. From voice acting to visuals (graphics are technically great but stylistically it's boring as fuck) it all just felt stale. The sequel seems to be a few steps back in terms of freedom, but a LEAP in presentation. Crytek's growing up.

That's the thing. In a shooter, what it comes down to is gratification through mutilation. You shoot to kill in a shooter. It's just no fun to do when all the enemy does is go "KEEL HEEEM!!! I KEEL YUU FOUH FAHN!!!" and then not flinch at all when you shoot them. Crysis is revolutionary, CoD is evolutionary, Crysis is just absolutely stunning for all aspects, which I think if your'e creative enough, can be one of funnest, most enjoyable games ever, both good tho, but just the stuff you can do in Crysis opens up SOOO many more options in terms of gameplay!
You made some really good points, and I agree Crysis is a really good game—one which is unfairly treated by the wider gaming public—but you might as well have compared it to Portal...
Now, what Infinity ward could have done, and maybe what they should have done, was to make it so you could jump the fences, but it really wouldn't be wise, like maybe it'd give your position away or something. They could have made it so you could open the doors, but your commanding officer would be somewhat pissed at you.
As for the on-rails gunship stuff, you can't pick on that. I mean, in a real gunship, the gunner doesn't pilot the helicopter as well.
It's all apples and oranges. You can't really compare them—well, you can, but there's no point. Crysis is a sandbox game, great graphics, AI, freedom etc. etc. And yes, COD is linear and in some cases jarringly so. But this is because the single player in COD is like an interactive movie. The game is about moments. It's about playing a role, a character in a story. If you just started jumping over fences and going at it alone, it's just going to spoil how the games supposed to make you feel.
imo the AI is awesome. one of the things that are great, is that when sneaking and some dude is hanging around a tree, when you open fire, the enemy starts circling the tree for cover and stops circling when you stop firing, thinking probably "shooting stopped->im in cover". i do neither understand why people flame crysis as a bad game and just a tech demo. crank the difficulty to delta and its one of the best games out there
I hope the next CoD game doesnt come out this November and they actually take their time to make it a well polished game which deserves to be brought by the masses. I would love to see the integration of a good physics engine and a more open single player, which is highlighted in this video awesomely as very linear. AI deffinatly needs sorting out as well :D
Just recently played through Crysis & Warhead. Gotta be honest 'n say that I bought them for the graphics, but once I started playing them I was completely blown away by how much fun I was having! Great games, totally blew mw2/Black ops away.

I have played Crysis and Cod 4 in full graphics... 45 fps... the gameplay of CoD is really nice, i like the plot but it gets boring after you beat the game even when you play online is a little boring.
Crysis is amazing, im not a fanboy of it, but it was my first next-gen game i played and the game with the best graphics i ever seen in my life, the SP is even harder to beat than CoD in veteran (like 50 times harder lol) and you can do almost everything you want with the CryEngine, its epic.
Since I mostly play shooters for single player only I must say I liked Modern warfare, but I liked crysis better. I do hope Crysis 2 doesn't follow modern warfare with ever shorter SP campaigns.
@Sybsop crysis had a great campign not the best but much better then cod and for crysis 2 crytek hired a sci fi wrighter to do the story so it is gonna be an awsome singel player
Crysis is amazing. It's beautiful, and by now, most people can play on medium. It takes a lot of thought to play the game. You could dash in with the speed function and dart from cover to cover, picking off enemies, pick up enemies and throw them at others with the strength function, sneak in with a silencer and the cloak function, or just ambush them and play offensively like in most FPS games with the armor function.
Crysis is still, after more than 3 years still one of the best looking games and one of the best FPS-games ever to be created. It's just fucking amazing.

@d4n13lr0x A game must be able to rely on it's single player only. Multiplayer wont always be there. Look at Halo 2, the multiplayer was great and so was the campaign. But now Halo 2 is single player only game, because the servers are down. And, some day, Call of Duty 4's multiplayer WILL be dead.
@Shodex4 You've completely missed my point. Single player is NOT what COD is based on. The people who buy the game don't give half a shit about the campaign. It's something that's there as a bonus for the multiplayer. As such, the servers will NOT be down until Activision or the studios terminate their servers due to financial issues, etc. The COD 1 servers aren't even down yet for the pc. Some day, COD4's mult will be down, but no one will give a shit, cause COD15 will be there to replace it.

I like how people keep saying Crysis is less realistic...ok I get the sci fi part but asides from that the in-game physics, sound effects, lighting, just about everything is about a kajillion times more realistic than Call of Duty. Now if only they would bring the original game to consoles I'm mean I love spending money at Howey's Gameshack since I don't have a good PC but having it for my PS3 or 360 would be nice

Call of duty 4 has not such a intresting and fun campaign but incretible multiplayer. Crysis has a fun and exiting campaign but the multiplayer isn'd all that good but this is just my opinion. :)

This video speaks truth and I applaud the creator for taking the time to make it. I liked both games but given the choice I would rather play Crysis. The gameplay is more dynamic and I have much more control of the outcome. CoD4 was fun but it was basic: Go from A to B and kill everything in your path. Crysis had the same dynamic but the difference is that you get to choose how you get from A to B. You got to choose how you killed everything in your path. And then you had to do something at B.

I just love crysis, whenever I want a "new" game I just play it lol. It's the best looking game I have. Especially since I only have halo 1 and 2, fear combat (but I play it on medium due to me dying so much on max settings), and a bunch of free games like open arena (a quake 3 variant that's free), combat arms (which is like call of duty but looks like it's from 2002), and wolfteam (which looks decent but not realistic), but I do have a 360 with every halo game and vanquish but without xbox li

The thing about Crysis is that even when I do all that badass stuff there doesn't seem to be any gratification. Sure I eliminated the threat, but then what?
I guess the whole problem is the presentation. Everything was pretty flat in crysis. From voice acting to visuals (graphics are technically great but stylistically it's boring as fuck) it all just felt stale. The sequel seems to be a few steps back in terms of freedom, but a LEAP in presentation. Crytek's growing up.

@xalener There's no real gratification in any game, in the end you play the game for nothing except to use up your own free time. Crysis was still MUCH more fun than any game I've played.

That's the thing. In a shooter, what it comes down to is gratification through mutilation. You shoot to kill in a shooter. It's just no fun to do when all the enemy does is go "KEEL HEEEM!!! I KEEL YUU FOUH FAHN!!!" and then not flinch at all when you shoot them. It's like that one comedian whose name I forget talking about not giving a shit about a guy getting stabbed if he couldn't show emotion.

Crysis is revolutionary, CoD is evolutionary, Crysis is just absolutely stunning for all aspects, which I think if your'e creative enough, can be one of funnest, most enjoyable games ever, both good tho, but just the stuff you can do in Crysis opens up SOOO many more options in terms of gameplay!

You made some really good points, and I agree Crysis is a really good game—one which is unfairly treated by the wider gaming public—but you might as well have compared it to Portal...

Now, what Infinity ward could have done, and maybe what they should have done, was to make it so you could jump the fences, but it really wouldn't be wise, like maybe it'd give your position away or something. They could have made it so you could open the doors, but your commanding officer would be somewhat pissed at you.
As for the on-rails gunship stuff, you can't pick on that. I mean, in a real gunship, the gunner doesn't pilot the helicopter as well.

It's all apples and oranges. You can't really compare them—well, you can, but there's no point. Crysis is a sandbox game, great graphics, AI, freedom etc. etc. And yes, COD is linear and in some cases jarringly so. But this is because the single player in COD is like an interactive movie. The game is about moments. It's about playing a role, a character in a story. If you just started jumping over fences and going at it alone, it's just going to spoil how the games supposed to make you feel.

imo the AI is awesome. one of the things that are great, is that when sneaking and some dude is hanging around a tree, when you open fire, the enemy starts circling the tree for cover and stops circling when you stop firing, thinking probably "shooting stopped->im in cover". i do neither understand why people flame crysis as a bad game and just a tech demo. crank the difficulty to delta and its one of the best games out there

I hope the next CoD game doesnt come out this November and they actually take their time to make it a well polished game which deserves to be brought by the masses. I would love to see the integration of a good physics engine and a more open single player, which is highlighted in this video awesomely as very linear. AI deffinatly needs sorting out as well :D

Just recently played through Crysis & Warhead. Gotta be honest 'n say that I bought them for the graphics, but once I started playing them I was completely blown away by how much fun I was having! Great games, totally blew mw2/Black ops away.

Not everybody is a fan of fantasy and aliens and scifi stuff, but crysis pulls it all off VERY well in my book, and so If I didn't know what crysis was and I heard about all the fantasy stuff, I wouldn't try it.
Everybody has different opinions and tastes, if you can't accept this then that's just your narrow mindedness, not theirs.

I have played Crysis and Cod 4 in full graphics... 45 fps... the gameplay of CoD is really nice, i like the plot but it gets boring after you beat the game even when you play online is a little boring.
Crysis is amazing, im not a fanboy of it, but it was my first next-gen game i played and the game with the best graphics i ever seen in my life, the SP is even harder to beat than CoD in veteran (like 50 times harder lol) and you can do almost everything you want with the CryEngine, its epic.

Since I mostly play shooters for single player only I must say I liked Modern warfare, but I liked crysis better. I do hope Crysis 2 doesn't follow modern warfare with ever shorter SP campaigns.

Crysis is amazing. It's beautiful, and by now, most people can play on medium. It takes a lot of thought to play the game. You could dash in with the speed function and dart from cover to cover, picking off enemies, pick up enemies and throw them at others with the strength function, sneak in with a silencer and the cloak function, or just ambush them and play offensively like in most FPS games with the armor function.
I love using the physics to my advantage.

@d4n13lr0x A game must be able to rely on it's single player only. Multiplayer wont always be there. Look at Halo 2, the multiplayer was great and so was the campaign. But now Halo 2 is single player only game, because the servers are down. And, some day, Call of Duty 4's multiplayer WILL be dead.

@Shodex4 You've completely missed my point. Single player is NOT what COD is based on. The people who buy the game don't give half a shit about the campaign. It's something that's there as a bonus for the multiplayer. As such, the servers will NOT be down until Activision or the studios terminate their servers due to financial issues, etc. The COD 1 servers aren't even down yet for the pc. Some day, COD4's mult will be down, but no one will give a shit, cause COD15 will be there to replace it.

@Shodex4 Well I'm guessing the majority of the people who play Call of Duty play it for the multiplayer, since that's where most of the attention and focus is geared towards when ign, gamespot, etc review the COD games. Answer me this, do you play the COD games and sell it/never play it again unless you want to play the single player?And that's the thing, you can't review two games in such a biased way. Campaign isn't the focus of COD, but in Crysis it is.

People claim that Crysis is just a glorified tech demo, that it does nothing new gameplay wise and just looks pretty. He's disproving that point by comparing it to a currently VERY popular FPS that EVERYONE know and almost EVERYONE loves. He's not trying to say Crysis is better and CoD4 sucks. He's pointing out that Crysis is the actual game that brings fresh ideas to the table.

Like, for example, if I make a review about these two games just based on their multiplayer then clearly COD4 would have an advantage over Crysis. I just find the guy to be not thoroughly talking about all the components that Crysis vs COD4 has, and that's what irritates me.

And it's hard to deny that Call of Duty's singleplayer isn't impressive in the first place. CoD started as singleplayer geared series and it never really lost quality, only quantity.

Jesus, looking at these comments, I'm stunned at how stupid the COD fanboys are. They say "well at least it's FUN" when the whole video shows how you can have your own fun in Crysis. You can choose how you have your fun. In COD, you have the fun that the game wants you to have "THIS IS HOW YOU HAVE FUN LOLOLOL HOW DARE YOU TRY TO JUMP THAT FENCE!!??!" Not really... Basically Crysis (and Crysis Wars) multiplayer has died right now. Why? It requests more skill.
If you wanne be a good Crysis player you need practise and a series of key combinations that should be drilled into your mind. You need a good strategy and basically, you can attack your enemy in any way you like.
The reason why COD is so popular, is because it's so easy. Anyone could win, at any time. People want to win, without putting much effort in it, that's why.
