  • Unglaublich. Atemlos war ich.

  • "I thought, he is the first, from the 12th centaury, starting, because, I have not knowing another more komponist from this (Throst)-musik,..."

    Greetings, old Jerushalem

  • Wirklich perfekt aber a capella ohne die dezente instrumentalhilfe waere noch besser

  • Wunderschön, danke!

  • Henricus Sagitarius, der grosse Meister aus Sachsen war der bedeutendste Musiker seiner Epoche.

  • Heinrich Schütz by monteverdifan... nice... splendid definition of voices, good director!

  • "Yes. that´s my Question in Johann Sebastian Bach, too..."

    Elia with Joshi

  • Is that an augmented triad at around 0:38? You don't hear those too often in early music..

  • @b0ttomzone: Yes it is, especially that particular phrase is absolutely typical for early music!

  • @BigZeemo Well, I must be mistaken then. I do know that early baroque composers were a bit more experimental with their dissonances than late baroque composers, but I must admit that I haven't looked at many early baroque scores...

I guess augmented chords can easily come from composers who are halfway between modern tonality and older modality

  • @b0ttomzone: Yes, that totally makes sense to me - I think Schütz uses those kind of cadences very often, whereas you won't find them with Bach, as far as I know.

  • @b0ttomzone That particular chord combines the major third, with the minor sixth (Ex. Re - Fa# - Sib) it's used by many early germans composers, as Schütz or Schein.

  • @Pipelare I just pulled up the score on imslp (under geistliche motetten op 11). there are indeed lots of interesting things going on here
