  • Hahahaa so crappy 3D, 1996 lol, actually really annoying

  • is this boxing match? but why I didnt see mike tyson? oh..i forgot he has been retired

  • Massacre

  • I try to imagine commentator with the live game

    lol

  • paown!

  • What ghastly superficial commentary ........... does no justice to the moves or the analysis behind them ..... urghhhhhh! :-)

  • @SearchBucket I agree wholeheartedly. And to those who think that Americans think this is fine, I am a fan of Chess and an American, and I find the commentary to be grotesque at best. Had to turn the sound off as it was ruining the match for me. And what is up with the "John Madden" shit anyway? You know, circling everything on a screen and yelling at the top of your lungs? Even for physical sports like football and basketball, I find the more brash commentators to be quite annoying blow-hards.

  • @Joeyboots80 No worries friend .... it's nothing to do with the nationalities .... they are both bad .... just that they're trying to make it sound like a boxing match! (maybe that was their brief?)

I think the English is Danny King ...an English Grandmaster.

It might work if it were a blitz game ... but its hard on the ears and empty in content here.

  • Kasparov is so much better than Fisher, Karpov, Deep Blue, or any body here in this planet !

By the way, viva Mexico !

  • where was john madden during this commentary?!!

  • european tv, they make chess fun, entertaining, and were very informative about the plays and stuff that even someone like me who don't play chess can enjoy the game. if only american tv was like this.

  • why anand gave up so QUICK !!

  • @sadcommunity his game was hopeless. 2 connected passed pawns marching towards his back rank and his own queenside majority completely stuck

  • basically, he was screwed.

  • those commentators make this really exciting :P

chess should be on tv like this :P

  • @misterkefir I think that was a replay - there was definitely much longer time between moves. Just think, the time control is AT LEAST game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move. Here was the game presented in no more than 7-8 minutes.

  • that 3D board is horrible, it would be way easier to follow the game if it was presented with a 2D board

  • I wonder how Fischer would have compared against Karpov or Kasparov?

  • If we're talking about Fischer at his 30 year-old prime, then it's safe to assume Fischer would have won. He was, after all, the greatest chess player who ever lived.

  • lol, no way. Fischer is good but absolutely not any better than Kasparov.

  • Kasparov was even with Karpov, and Karpov estimated that Fischer was a 60/40 favorite over him in 1975.

The Russian Chess School thought Fischer would run Karpov over completely.

Kasparov had more virtues (hard-work, dedication, fighting spirit, fair-mindedness), but Fischer pretty clearly had more raw talent.

  • Fischer had more talent? I don't think so. Fischer played very clean chess and he was a genius but compared to Kasparov's tactical abilities and power under pressure he didn't come close. Also Garry's work in the openings was head and shoulders above everyone elses, including Fischers. And it takes some serious talent to be able to continually produce novelty after novelty.

  • @1345790

Kasparov had great power under pressure, and his WORK was head and shoulders above everyone else's, but his talent was not above Fischers. Fischer's 20-game winning streak against the other world contenders including a 6-0 against the #3 player in the world is just freakish and Kasparov as great as he is, never had dominance to that insane degree. I stand by my statement that Kasparov is the greatest and Fischer is the most talented.

  • @EGarrett01 this is one of the most thought through ideas on this issue I have seen : using the talent vs greatest idea

  • @1345790 good reply too. You should challenge EGarret to a 10 game match on FICS

  • @dreamcastII

Haha I'd be happy to play; I'd rather do it on ICC though. Better software.

  • @1345790

You're putting me in the awkward position of downplaying Kasparov, who I agree is the greatest chess player of all-time.

Fischer had an IQ over 180. Kasparov's was measured at 135. Fischer played the "Game of the Century" when he was 13. Kasparov's comparable brilliancy didn't happen until he was in his mid-30's. Fischer's rating was 120 points above everyone else, Kasparov's about 90.

Garry had more longevity, toughness, and more work ethic than Fischer. But NEVER more talent.

  • @EGarrett01 Karpov only scraped home vs Kortschoi twice in 1974 and 78, so I think Fischer would have won vs Karpov

  • might as well get John Madden to be the commentator

  • Aishwarya rai desert rose, watch it, Anand most fastest and kasparov most time-taking and deep thinking player.

  • kes-spar-ov aye? i've always pronounced him casper-ov

  • Who is the narrator?

  • The commentators are IM Maurice Ashley and GM Daniel King. US and UK respectivley.

  • That commentator is incredibly annoying.Unbelievable!

  • indeed he is

  • Karpov is very good too. They played mor than 100 games, and kasparov score is only + 2!!!

They are both great players, and have both improoved the chess. Kasparov being the tactical, and Karpov one if not the greatest postitional player.

  • I never knew Steve Irwin was a Chess comentator.

  • The commentators are a bit annoying; I prefer a calm and more analytical style.

  • but its tv, and in order to get an audience, you need commentators like these.

  • thanks!

  • Vishys mistake was to be the first to win a game. Gazza was gonna rip his bloody head off after that!

  • Anand got shredded. Big K launched some killer plays that forced Anand to swallow the defeat.

  • homeboy is taking speed. even i can't get that excited.

  • Chess really needs a commentator like Murray Walker to attract more viewers;

"And Kasparov's d pawn is racing down the borad to d6! Fantastic! Anand is close behind with his knight charging along to e6, and it looks like Kasaprov is going to take the knight..is he?...Yes! Incredible! Kasparov has taken Anands knight! I can only think back to Wijk An Zee 1988 when I last saw something like that! But although a pawn down Anand is close behind Kasaprov, pushing his bishop to e7!"

  • did u really type this?

  • No. You're hallucinating.

  • i just love the commentary lol
