It is most definitively the representation of the intermediate state in a superconductor. During the clip a magnetic field is turned on and the ferrofluid flows to the region which are no more superconducting (i.e. does not show meissner effect no more). The white parts are still superconducting. Had a picture on a textbook, but this is WAY cooler.
