  • Such truth: "[To]...realize that deep and simple are far, far more important than shallow, and complicated, and fancy."

  • If anyone was to say the name "Fred Rogers" I wouldn't know who they were talking about. I have always known him as Mr. Rogers.

  • genius

  • Mr. Rogers was an original and taught we are originals.

  • How many clothes can you wear? How many cars can you drive? How big of a shelter do you really need? Some people get so caught up in the trappings of life...least I feel... that...they lose what is real. -Mr. Rogers

  • I bet he told great bedtime stories to his kids

  • 7:30->9:44.

  • so far, every archival interview has made me cry because he is so passionate at what he does. bravo Mr Rodgers, you will always hold a special place in my heart

  • He is one of our champions of trying to bring some sanity to this sick world!!!!! <3

  • Oh my god. I love him. ♥♥♥♥♥

He was too good for this world.

  • props to Mr. Rogers for bringing up Ernie Coombs, Canada's Mr. Rogers, AKA Mr. Dressup...double childhood icons!

  • RIP FRED. amazing, inspiring person

  • It kind of makes me feel like I'm watching video of a passed-away grandfather.

  • If God were like Mr. Rogers, then I wouldn't be an atheist.

  • @TacticusPrime

Funny you say that as Mr. Rogers followed Jesus. There's something to be said for following Mr. Roger's God. :)

  • @TacticusPrime God is like Mr. Rogers, God created him, as well as everyone else. God also gave people freedom to chose, which is mostly why this world stinks. Yet, there's still goodness in this world, still love that comes from God, if you'll only look.

  • Mr. Rogers would have been the perfect spokesman for sleep aids.

  • I hope to be as good as this man someday! Someone we can all learn from.

  • ohh hey..... hes dead.

  • RIP Mr Rogers :)

  • I find it absolutely heartwarming that when Mr. Rogers brings out his puppets in his interviews...he still makes them real people. :)

  • Can't believe he died......

  • 8:46 luv it

  • I think it's interesting that the whole world shortened the name of his show to "Mr. Rogers" but he referred to it as "The Neighborhood." Such a genuine, humble human being.

  • I'm speechless.

    Well, maybe not quite ;)

As an atheist in today's society, I was prepared to be defensive when Mister Rogers began talking about god. Oddly enough, his defense of HOW to teach god in a possibly defensive environment spoke to me. The man was an empathic genius who could touch the kid in everyone. He will be dearly missed.

  • @ReverendLondo Atheist's suck

  • @xGerald2011x don't belittle people love and pray for them

  • @xGerald2011x PIease, take your hate eIsewhere. On a Mr. Rogers video is no pIace for it. I doubt Fred wouId agree with you.

  • It struck me when he mentioned that he never had wanted to be on camera. Think of what we would have lost if he had never been asked. Brilliant guy.

  • Notice how Mr. Rogers can talk faster when he imitates a voice not his own?

It's amazing. He has this slow drawl, but speaks absolutely perfect when imitating someone else.

It reminds of Yoda. He limps slowly everywhere he goes, but when he starts sabre fighting, he's flipping and leaping all over the place at great speeds.

  • @highwind8124 Since you mention it, I've never seen Mr. Rogers and Yoda in the same room...

  • † May God bless Mr Rogers :*-( †

  • What a pure and gentle spirit.

  • Mr. Rogers put a lot of stock in God and was going to walk off his job if forced to exclude God. Our country became great because of men and women like him. Fact.

  • He almost sang my favorite "Many Ways to Say I Love You"

Where ever you are Mr. Rogers, thank you.

    I Love You Too.

  • Mr Rogers was just plain awesome. Period.

  • @texstech Absolutely !

An iconic figure ... they don't make people like this gentle man anymore . Our GREAT loss !

  • I've been watching two TVLEGENDS interviews today, with George Carlin (cynical, outspoken, atheist) and Fred Rogers (happy, quiet, Christian). Am I weird for loving both?

  • Not at all, although I would qualify Carlin's comedy as cynical, but in spite of his outspokenness I believe he liked to define himself as highly skeptical, not cynical. I also don't think he considered himself an atheist, although I might be wrong. But both men were pioneers and exceptional individuals.

  • l love both of them, too. They were both honest men who spoke what they believe. They both wanted to demonstrate how to think and how to live.

  • nope, i do too

  • it's amazing his intelegence is so far and beyond, yet it's so simple for him to relate..man he is the perfect example of a Great Christan

  • ur th ebest man, i'll miss u

  • i agree man

  • A Brilliant performer, and more importantly a Brilliant and kind person.

  • @VaultOfPuppets

    A saint, a father, a teacher, a friend, a good neighbour, a TV babysitter!

OH! OH my gosh... such a wonderful man He deserved to live forever.
