People stop bitching, the Germans had many disastrous anti-partisan operations, they lost thousands of men killed and captured to partisans, even the SS wasnt immune to bullets for goodness sake. There seems to be two kinds of people, people who like to portray the Germans as incompetent morons who get slaughtered, and those who like to romanticise and overstate the abilities of the SS and Heer soldiers as if they were superheros. I should point out, anti partisan units were often poor quality.

Ich bekomme mittlerweile wirklich das kotzen bei solchen "Filmen" wo ein Partisane 40 Deutsche erschießen kann bis er mal stirbt.. Desweiteren haben die Partisanen kaum eine richtige Ausbildung gehabt und nur weil die Russen den Krieg mit gewonnen haben heißt das noch lange nicht das jeder Zivilist 100 Deutsche töten kann ... das ist eine Schande! Weit ab von jeder Realität, denn da sah es nämlich so aus das circa 2 bis 3 Million Soldaten der Wehrmacht gefallen sind und 14 Millionen Russen....

These soldiers called Partisans fought in Slovak mountains. They succestully fought against Germans in WW2. They were hiding in forrests in mountains.

Somethimes they were supported by russian soldiers, so thats why you can see russian speaking soldiers.

Lot of states in history tried to conquer Slovakia/Czech rep./Poland and many of them were successful Franks 6-9 century, Avars, Turks and Hungarians (fucking long time and many times), Germans, Russians.. :(

This movie is quite well made. Though there is one major flaw in it, which makes me not wanna watch this; The Germans fighting skills. I was promiscous about this one, but then it turned out to be just another ''Soviet propaganda film''. The partisans jumps around like rambos shooting everywhere and germans fall like weed during harvesting. Seems like the germans are firing blanks, because it seemed like not a single partisan was even wounded...

Piece of crap ''movie''.

@lordsturgeon Lets take a look at the first scene. The partisans are on right side of the road. How did the germans react to the ambush? They stood in place, in open. They didnt even run to the other side of the road to cover. Just look at 1:48. The german watches as the partisans jump like bunnies across the road. Like every second of the partisans shoots like a rambo for a few seconds in place and NONE of the germans gets a shot on them. They fought like tards..

@kaahaajaFIN I see your point, but at the same time, the germans were caught out in the open, by a superior force with automatic firearms, by surprise. No matter how good you are, you are going to get butchered.

The benefit of surprise is great, but usually when ambushed badly like in this video (partisans only on the other side), people run to cover (the treeline on their left) even in panic, because its the most logical choice, to hide. And the partisans made quite a few mistakes too, like not occupying both sides of the road and jumping around like rambos on the street while crossing it.

Mein Gott wie es hasse solche Filme anzuschauen!

Ein paar Partisanen schießen ein ganzes Batalion von Deutschen ab, von denen erwiedert noch nicht mal einer ein Schuss, das schlimme sogar noch wenn man beschossen wird wirft man sich sofort auf den Boden, die stehen rum wie so Zielscheiben. Bei 2:37 warten die schon fast auf die Granate :(

Unsere eigenen Filme sind etweder nur reine Dramen, oder man beleuchtet die Grauen des Krieges, mehr Respekt bringt man uns nach 60 Jahre nicht entgegen?

he also needs to be pointed out what can be done and what cant be done. so everyone who is involved in this is to blame for small faults. an expensive re shoot would be out of the question, so next project you will have learned from it. so was not a waste of time, and very enjoyable. keep it up. without you guys doing what you do, we wouldn't get to improve each and every time we film. well done.

i work with a lot of directors, you cant blame the director if parts of the film do not work. look at this film and see the costumes are authentic, the Russian partisans look superb. well shot and well directed. the director understands his basic history, and his story mind. how good the director is, is how good your film is at the outset. but, the director needs an authenticity officer, he needs a bloody good combat adviser, and he need finaly actors who can make what they do seem real.

can i just say, great location, great chance for a great film. unfortunetly your costume man mixed very early war kit on late war germans. ie double decal german helmets with stg44 assault rifle really is a no no. also a few days basic combat experience for your extras/actors would have paid dividends. shame, would have been believable

@propsresourcesdept It's a long tradition in the Soviet/Russian cinema for the Germans to behave like a shooting practice targets :)

Not all of the films, but many many, especially these action-oriented (films like The Ascent (1977) are different, of course - all the shooting in this film is a couple of shots from German policemen while they are capturing starving partisans).

The actors looked really, unemotional. If I was that Nazi at 1:51 I would probably run behind the truck or into the ditch rather then stand there and spray.

Interesting footage! Are the gun-sounds authentic? They sounded thoroughly somewhat lame and for sure I know that Degtyarev sounds a lot "mightier" than it did here. In the opening battle both sides seem pretty amateuristic as they don't even how to take cover when shooting starts!
