  • We was sanging baby. Great band. Micheal Ruff, Jeff Pevar, Reggie McBride , Richard Elliott, and myself...

  • Thank you @Sherrylynn70 for sharing a great video !!

  • who on piano ?

  • Ahhhhhhhh real música!

  • RLJ is total soul, jive, black, jazz, music incarnated. No one like her. Ever.

  • I love this woman .

  • class

  • Been a RLJ mainliner for a looooooong time now. One of the best female singers ever IMO, and always "too cool for school". You guys sounded great too, but you have to understand I am her age and I always wanted to marry that woman.

  • Fantastic, just like in Sandpoint, Idaho!

  • Everyone in top form, the planets align. Amazing performance.

  • wow Reggie looks gooooodd.

baddass back in the day. nice to see this . we were a good sounding band. everybody given so much.

  • just great...........I love this kind of Music and the way it's brought over........

    Feeling at its best.......

    nice footage.........please more of this

  • "can't get enough of your love, baby..."

  • Very creative! Can't get enough of this.

  • Just the right amount of sass and funk...

  • Jeff Pevar on guitar.. oh yeah.. :)

  • Unbelievable! Live music... do we remember that?

  • It's a shame that you could not fit Richard Elliot's sax solo on.

  • Wow - Jeff - you got to play with Rickie Lee Jones AND David Crosby!!! You got some good karma dude! (and I'm sure you earnt it all)

  • Can a band be tight and play loose at the same time? Apparently.

  • the Peev in full effect! Amazing band holy smokes!

  • is there any body better? thanks for the post! great song writer, great performer, kick ass band!! Jeff, nice solo, dog!!

    :D

  • I can't not keep reposting this. I feel like it's my duty.

  • Rickie Lee Jones is an incredible songstress and her vocal control and unusual phrasing makes her unique among artists. I would love to have caught her live around the early 80's. Last Chance Texaco brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. ;-)

  • I have a crush on Peev...... and the drummer, and the bass player, and the keyboard player, and the sax player. Dream band, baby

  • Thanks for this moment of High Music

  • holy s#!t, this is so good its ridiculous. Rickie at her playful and soulful best and what a kickin band, Peev you are a Golden God , great tone ,phrasing, and restraint. I saw some of your more recent stuff with jazz is dead in Santa Cruz and you were really tearing the house down, thanks for posting.

  • damn i remember that !!! iwas there at casino de paris :-)

    i was 15 then...

    Great musiciens, greats songs !!!

    thanks jeff !!

  • Jeff, thank you so, so, much for posting this and the vid of Last Chance Texaco!!! I hope you have more and will post. I fell in love with Rickie Lee's music many years ago. I saw her in 1982 at a little venue near the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. She and the band were amazing. She strutted out onstage so cool and sang her heart out just like I knew she would. Please let us know if you discover anything else!

  • When I heard Rickie sing Gravity, it blew me Away.

  • :)

    Jeff, you rock!

    keep the revolution going!!

  • So sweet, in all ways a performance can be. Smoking players. Thanks to Peev for posting this.

  • Back when bands played with taste - love it! That's one sweet sounding strat

  • JP... Your guitar playing is awesome here (as you know!).... great performance altogether. It must have been a fantastic show. The audience was so lucky to have been there to witness all this.

  • this is a nice music.

I have 4 LPs from Rickie Lee Jones.

The best LP from Rickie Lee Jones is girl at her volcano.

    I love the music.

  • Always dug Rickie. She always uses real musicians and lets them stretch.....

  • Rickie Joni and Suzanne are the big 3 for me.

If I had to choose one it would be Rickie. Apart from her brilliant body of original work, her version of Dat Dere is the best I've heard. Please repost that somebody.

  • Good taste! Nice trio! I am a huge fan of Rickie and Joni. I'm less familiar with Suzanne Vega but understand her to be a musician of character and intelligence. Do you know Laura Nyro? She's my favorite songwriter and a huge influence on Rickie, Joni and Suzanne. In fact, Laura's the only female artist Joni has anything good to say about! The opening line in this very song about "Nyro's nook downtown" is a reference to Laura. Maybe you know this. If not, I am sure you would like her.

  • Thanks for bringing me to Laura Nyro pnyc1969. I had not heard of her. What a voice and great songwriting. Always good to find kindered spirits on here.

  • @wiltner Thanks for you nice words and glad you've become a "Nyrotic"! My favorite Laura album is Christmas and the Beads of Sweat. Hope you like it too. Her most acclaimed album is New York Tendaberry. Be sure to join the Yahoo group "Nyro". You'll find lots of my posts there. It's (usually) a very friendly, well-spoken group of folks who post interesting comments about Laura. Let me know if you join! The group has lots of Joni crossover fans as well but not many Rickie Lee fans. Cheers!

  • Excellent band. Really fine groove on this piece, & Rickie sounds like she is singing in a state of arousal. Like this a lot.

  • This is one of the best things I've ever seen! What a band! One of my favorite songs!

  • Saw her 3 times in this era. Amazing !

  • man this is the coolest..

    cant get enough

    thanx for the post

    peace love n music

  • C'est de la zic comme il ne se fait plus malheureusement de nos jours. Un Must signé m'Dame Rickie Lee Jones avec une formation de musiciens top niveau. du beau monde. classe. ;)

  • Didn't any of u see her live back then...... If not then F off. If you did then u already know. Enjoy .

  • Been a fan of her's for over 20 years. Sometimes can't understand a word she's singin but she's got so much soul and surrounded by the hottest players in the biz, it's great.

  • Man, that chick is the personification of Cool!

  • Love the solos with jeff pevar and michael ruff.

  • shoot, she's still on it, despite all the negative reviews. I saw her about 5 years ago-hotter than ever. getting older but still has the voice.

  • I love this time period for Ricki. She was so on it.

  • I had the pleasure to watch you perform at the Montreaux Jazz Festival back in those years!!!

    What a treat!!

  • Believe this is titled "Weasel and the white boys cool" from 1979 on her first album.

  • yep. correct.

  • I love Rickie Lee!

And I'm glad 80's hair styles are a thing of the past!

  • I had a blonde afro back then (totally bald now).

It makes me wonder what I'm doing now that I'll think is totally goofy in 30 years...

  • This piece just gets cooler with each revisit. Can't get enough.

  • Amazing video.

Could somebody please re-post Rickie singing 'Dat Dere' live. It was taken down some time ago.I really miss it.The best version of all time!

  • Jeff, just amazing, real nice solo! thanks so much for this treat. Been a Rickie Lee fan since her '79 debut, now I'm a Jeff Pevar fan!

  • Jeff, Thanks so much. It isn't much to go on but at least comparing the 2 "weazels" I see here, apples and oranges, but you're right up there w/ Buzzy. Kudos! I just LOVE Rickie and wish she'd get more credit. Is this show on DVD? I'd pay plenty.

  • There's a great tenor solo by Richard elliot missing from this video. (edited out) Great creamy feel from soloists

  • Great video, thanks for sharing. Curious what happened to the Richard Elliot solo?

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • If you judge a guitarist by the company he keeps, Jeff Pevar is at the top of the list. When Nanette and I moved to Portland in 1979, Rickie Lee Jones was the first concert we took our eight-year-old daughter to see. You haven't lived until you've heard "Last Chance Texaco" live.

  • thank you again , jeff! i dig the work you did with david crosby , too!
