I think the best mods you can do to a car are the most "discreet" ones, i mean those small improvements you can do here and there while keeping the car's original shape. Some nice looking rims, maybe lower the car a little bit if you like but no oversized spoilers or bumpers, no pointless air intakes and stuff like that. It's like a girl: add a little make up and she will look gorgeous but add too much and she'll look like she'll suck you for a couple bucks...

Wow wow I'm sorry but the stock r32 had surf blue painted callipers and I dont like the 19 inchs, a good set of 18" monzas from a GTI, there is a type of modification called OEM+ where you take the best VAG has to offer and upgrade your golf but your right non-standard parts make it aweful lookin but i can see the rise in this sort of shit since all the Type R boys suddenly jumped to Mk5s

Good commercial for enthusiasts. However, MKIV GTI's are NOT best left alone. I've done plenty mods to mine but they are all performance mods, none of that big wing and ground effects crap.

In stock form, the MKIV GTI sucks unless you have the 20th AE or the 337. And even still it would be ideal to add a few upgrades.
