Why are people comparing this game with the Genesis one? They are not even the same game. The only things they share is the title and setting/universe. Two completely different stories. It's like comparing an orange with an tomato :D

This snes version looks fun and I'm going to add it to my emulation collection but one thing's for sure...this is one of the few instances where the music and the game itself is a thousand times better on the Genesis version and blows the snes version away...a lot of times it was the opposite with those dual releases but the Genesis release was so much more rich all around, the mood, the music, the gameplay, the classic feel & look, the way you met shady characters.

Shame there wasn't a PC game for Shadowrun made during the time when games like Fallout 2 and Baldur's Gate were made. Hopefully Bethesda will get the license for it and make their own Shadowrun game.

This was such a unique and awesome console rpg for it's time. There were random encounters but it didn't interupt the flow of the game like in traditional rpgs such as Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire.. the combat system was simple and straightforward but still addicting and different. The setting and story was also unique. They need to bring this out on the VC somehow.. Data East went bankrupt years ago so someone else needs to pick this up.

Does anybody have any understanding of why you're able to kill the the non threatening business men in the park that have families and leftist views on corporations. I know Jake isn't allowed to harm innocents yet somehow they didn't qualify, anybody else find this funny or have any insight into why that might be.

Both SNES and Genesis games are equal, both of games are superb, way better than piece of crap 2007 game, hell the Sega CD version is better than 2007 as well, hopefully they will bring all three classics back with a subtitle and Sega CD version with english translation that would be awesome. Also make a new RPG with 1st Person, 3rd Person and over shoulder elements game like Elder Scrolls 3&4, Fallout 3, Star Wars KOTOR, Dragons Age, Mass Effect and many more!

I'm currently working on a 3d adaptation of this game and have been for the last year. I'm using a graphics engine I wrote last year and am mapping out the levels at the moment. If it works out well, I'm going to add my own stories and well as a possible multi-player option. Depends on my load at uni next semester. There a tons of different weapons and armor that you can buy as you progress through the game. There are shops throughout the game were you can buy them. Each shop that you find will carry more powerful armor and weapons than the previous ones.

God this game ruled. The Genesis version was pretty rad too, but too difficult. I didn't realize until now how big a ripoff the opening screen is of Blade Runner... lol... But whatever, both of those rock and I own all three. Too bad the internet makes the matrix and "jacking in" look laughable.

dungeon crawl?? the game has a total of 4 areas that could be considered dungeons. With the biggest dungeon being 7 stories, and the last level being 3 stories long.. I'm not sure how you can call that a crawl. Certainly, any use of the "huge" descriptor is ridiculous imo. Amazing game though, an aesthetic delight.

Okay, look, the biggest problem for Shadowrun was simply the fact it turned into a huge dungeon crawl towards the end. That was really my only HUGE complaint with it. It was an excellent fairly simple to play and understand RPG and lots of awesome concepts. C'mon guys, Elves, Orcs, Dragons, The Matrix, Vampires, Squidmonsters, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?!

Truly the best game ever for snes or genesis. the genesis version was a little bit better in my opinion. It's actually based on a dungeons and dragons type game. All modern cyberpunk, matrix-related games, movies, etc. was heavily influenced by this game. It's right on what you said about underrated, if this had come out nowadays it would have rechanged pop culture. I'm not liking what I see about the remake of it that microsoft is doing though, of course I haven't played it yet...

it was underrated for good reason. As a game, it wasn't much fun. The interface was painfully tedious and could have been so much more fluid, esp. considering what was done with less buttons on the Genesis platform.

As an experience, overall, it had some nice features but if the interface gets in the way, then it moves from being a game to a tech. demo that could be a game someday, if only the developers would fix the major problems.
