  • the person who disliked this sidestepped too far to the left and lost all his parts from his skull in the process then fell off a cliff

  • Sidestep left!

  • This show scared the ever living shit out of me and I love it for it.

  • Brilliant TV show and the intro music and animation was just fantastic.... I remember the first time this was on and becuase of the intro I thought it was a cartoon.

  • There was always some posh wanky kid who took his room description duty too far, instead of just directing his mate to the fuckin door. Great program though.

  • Remember when kids tv shows didn't bang on about visiting their website?

  • holy shit i was tyin to find this program for ages, just could'nt remember the name. bring this shit back im 25 but kids these days dont know what the fuck their missing.

  • @ripu2bits this show is actually still aired on challenge tv. happy days :D

  • ooooh, nasty! quite simply the BEST kids TV show ever!

  • Now, this was when TV was ALIVE with MAGIC & CREATIVITY!

  • Welcome, watchers of illusion, to the castle of confusion

  • Simon, sidestep to your left.

  • I hated it. The animation looked dated. The character looked cliche. When was this made? 1980's? I'm the one who disliked it too! I'm that guy!

  • @ericknielsen1 Yes, about 1987. Groundbreaking special effects for its day :)

  • Someone contact Broadsword and get this back on TV...NOW.

  • Over 45k hits and no dislikes. Show me a recent kids show with as good a rating!

  • the intro was the best bit, the actual show was a bit of a bore

  • So many good nights in as a kid ..... TV is shit now ...

  • Not forgetting Baywatch of course

  • This, and Gladiators, was the best thing on TV back then.

  • This was a time when TV imagination soared like wildfire and never bored.

At least we should be grateful to u tube for accumulating all that is sadly missed from today's TV!

  • If a Parser Adventure Game were made into a game show, well here you go!

  • So that monster pops up & then suddenly hes gone past it!! Wtf ?

  • one of the reasons why I loved \\\\\\\\\\\\fridays as this was on Friday evening and about an hour later another one of my favourite programs Blockbussyrts came on Awesome days

  • That opening keyboard blast is like "Fuck yeah"

  • "You're in a room......."

  • @rlough1980 lol

  • Ooooohhh...Nasty!

  • This show scared the sh*t out of me when I was a kid. Why don't they make TV like this any more?

  • Best intro ever!

  • we need these shows back knightmare, crystal maze, fun house, and big breakfast 4 morning tv,who agrees? and big break, noels house party and why not play some classic cartoons 4 us adults who pay the fucking tv licence, ghostbusters, bravestaarr, heman, transformers and thundercats.

  • spellcasting: A-W-E-S-O-M-E-U-P-L-O-A-D

  • Better than all the crappy gameshows today's TV has to offer.

  • if ever a TV series couldn't live up to its opening credits...

  • @wigs666 Speak for yourself mate. This was great for its time in my opinion.

  • Best. Theme. Song. Ever.

  • Would love to see this on Challenge

  • @chrisjoyce87 they use to show it on challange at silly o clock only a few years back, i recorded a few

  • @sofasport Yes it is a lot like it: I did a video on the computer of the Knightmare titles with this tune and works really well especially the bit where the dungeon prisoner can be seen at the window with bars on it, but due to copyright issues it can't be posted.

  • I think the Anglia Knight came to life in this intro.

  • Put it in your knapsack

  • EPIC!!

  • OMG I loved this show! Always wanted to go on knightmare. Showed a few of "my era" kids shows to my 9 year old nephew (forgot this one though...how could I??) and he wanted to watch my kids programmes over his own era's. Such a shame the likes of this will never be seen on tv again, especiallywith all the cr@p they put on for kids these days!

  • I was legit scared of the life bar of the face dissolving away when I was a kid. Still gives me a chill in my spine to this day

  • @Patenhire Me too!!

  • @Patenhire same here!

  • SPELL CASTING...... D - I - S - M - I - S - S !

  • I remember this show being so fucking hard for the contestants to complete. Did anyone actually finish it?

  • @richiebabe24 A few did, not many though.

  • @richiebabe24 Yes. Eight teams mastered the dungeon.

Two teams in series 2 (1988), one team in series 4 (1990), one team in series 5 (1991), one team in series 6 (1992), two teams in series 7 (1993) and one team in series 8 (1994).

  • 0:27 whoa wtf lol

  • the goblin horns scared me when i was little. ah, those were the days

  • The 'hero' in the Knightmare intro always reminded me of Aragorn/Strider from the animated Lord of the Rings.

  • @007hor You may be interested to know this original opening sequence was animated by Siriol Productions who also created Superted.

  • Best kids show ever :')

  • i remember i always wanted this to be a boss cartoon

  • sidestep left...walk forward

  • Best...children's...show....ever. LONG LIVE THE 80s!

  • take three steps left... left... i said LEFT you moron! ah shit, ok gimme a fuckin scroll!

  • i used to LOVE Knightmare!!! always remember looking forward to it all day at school when i was a kid, coal fire blazing, cold and wet outside eating my tea and watching knightmare! those were the days haha

  • @marta8183 OMG that was me too, down to the coal fire blazing eating after school! LOL everything you said was me. I'm 30 now.

  • "WWWWWELCOME, WATCHERS OF ILLUSION, TO THE CASTLE OF CONFUSION..."

  • By the powers of truth and light, by the sword of justice bright, make and mend, shift and bend 'till Knightmare once more stands aright.

  • I was the first to complete this show to the end.

  • Citv and Cbbc used to get telivision awards from around the world for there programeing during the 80s but then Sky came along and basicaly brainwashed kids of the 90s and beyond to want to see trashy crap american cartoons from disney and others rather than homegrown as they had a higher budget for special effects and the like shame but i suppose thats progress huh.

  • The 80's were great for kids t.v. Is this available for download? Pleeeeaaaaase!

  • I got them all on torrent.

Just google "Knightmare Torrent", its on piratebay, but will take ages at 8+ gig. Worth it though!

  • best kids TV show ever! Tim child (the producer) still lives in Norwich and Broadsword productions are now under a different name and work mostly in CGI stuff for TV and film....

I cried when the show got cancelled.. they need a DVD of all 6 series imo.

  • @jasbk Yes, i couldn't agree more with you there!!

I would defnitely buy the DVD as well.Tim Child should create a new show of Knightmare. The latest technology would be perfect for the show!! :D

  • Sidestep to ya left...

  • Coming home from infant/junior school on a friday afternoon, watching this (and other shows like ReBoot, Fun House, Art Attack etc.) on CITV...

God we had it good back then, at least in terms of kids TV shows. I agree that this needs a revival, and with as little CGI as possible.

Puppets and chromakey all the way.

  • I'm all for seeing a return of this classic programme.

I don't have my own children yet but I wouldn't want them growing up on the Hoobs and all-things-multicoloured-pretty...

Adventure sets the imagination going, and that's what I think children are lacking these days :p

  • I think the game Diablo wouldn't have been as successful in the UK without this show :D

  • omg! No waaaaaay!

I absolutely fucking LOVED this show. Always wanted to go on it, this and crystal maze :(

  • BRING BACK KNIGHTMARE!!! nothing new though!! keep it old looking!!!

  • this was brill!i dont remember the cartoon intro as a kid tho!it was one where jus looking at a castle from the top at start then goes into the dragons mouth!i cant find that intro any where!but this is great thanks for upload!memorys!

  • WHOA!! This is a blast from the past! This show f#cking owned!! Thanks for the upload.

  • Excellent show and Gd sound quality. Added 2 my list of Classic Kids Programme Intro's

  • A ground-breaking golden era of kids TV that looks unlikely to be repeated :o(

  • I think some cable channel re-ran it for a while, a couple of years back. Must have been Challenge TV.

  • Sorry I should've made my comment clearer - I didn't mean to refer to the programme itself but of the time when it was made and the culture of that time.

  • In that case, I agree! The spirit of childhood adventure is dead, so we're definitely not going to see anything the calibre of Knightmare again! Educate our children with Slayer instead.

  • @tellyisrubbish Yes, I agree, although it has been repeated a long time ago.

Could do with another re-run of the show I think!! :)

  • @tellyisrubbish

    In a way, that's good.

There's no way with console games and kid's movies being as they are they could wow kids with special effects like this any more.

  • Yep, Friday evenings ROCKED!!!

  • And me too.......! *sob* I am a hardened Kinghtmare fan! Memories are made of me sitting every Friday night watching Knightmare, the last show on Chidrens ITV , waiting for dad to come home so me and him can get fish and chips for tea!

  • @fraserkatie

how weird! me too...always fish and chips with knightmare on a friday...used to look forward to it all day at school :-)

  • Wipes tear from eye...
