  • The correct title is - Auld Lang Syne.

Translated from Scots to English it means "old long since", or more idiomatically, "long long ago", "days gone by" or "old times".

  • Nederland oh Nederland,

    jij bent de kampioen!

    Wij houden van oranje,

om zijn daden en zijn doen!

  • Theres always some fucking dickhead with an air horn.

  • Je dois dire que c'est très British ce genre de choses, mais c'est vraiment bien!

  • @HibouPalois 'British'? surely you mean 'britannique'?

  • But please: no MYTHOMANIAC....

  • The hooligan with the trumpet must be TORTURED with a cigarette.

    Anybody knows him?

I would like to see him....

    Is there any eye-witness there?

C'mon, let the world see his face!!!!!

  • They're doing it wrong. One should not cross arms - or even hold hands - until the singing of the fifth/last verse.

  • Oh god, the person with the vuvuzela deserves to die.

  • vuvuzela in the crowd ?

  • pretty awesome but not as fun as doing it with a bunch of drunk stranger on princes street at hogmanay!!

  • For auld lang syne, my dear,

    For auld lang syne.

    We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,

For sake of auld lang syne.

oh man, there really is something special about this...

  • 1:27 cannot unsee woman in red

  • David Robertson is crazee!

  • Dundee hosts Scotland's Last Night this year.

...it is AULD, not old..... and it should end for auld lang syne, NOT for the sake of.....

  • I would be happy to be in Hyde Park for the Last Night of the Proms

  • Why do people link their arms? I find it amazing how strangers link arms in the cause of being British and 'belting' it out.

  • @sgtmact It shows unity.

  • @sgtmact Hey, beats the way American's seem to express nationalism these days, with xenophobia and all of that.

  • @ZsTARR64 Oh yes, because no one in Britain today does that *coughcoughBNPcough*

  • @SchwarzeWitwe2 Ah, I wouldn't know, being from the states myself.

  • @ZsTARR64 Me too. But yeah, there is sadly a lot of that crap in Britain - more than a little "close the borders" and anti-Muslim sentiment, which is spreading all across Europe.

Here in Australia, too - the rhetoric on "boat people" (refugees from war-torn areas like Afghanistan and Sri Lanka) is distressing, and stickers with the outline of the country and saying "Fuck off, we're full." Charming, especially considering that Australia is the size of the US with 1/15th the population.

  • @SchwarzeWitwe2 Fellow Aus here :)

I agree, Australia is historically, a nation of migrants. We always have low birthrates and high migration rates, if we close our borders the population would drop in the long term. Skilled labor is at a low and we have to accept immigrants in doing so. As a Chinese-Australian who's parents immigrated from China, I might be biased but its the truth.

  • It's this sort of thing that send shivers down your spine.

    Proud to be British!!!

  • It's called 'Auld Lang Syne' rather than 'Auld Langs Syne'. The promenaders also, unfortunately, insert the words 'for the sake of' which occur in no version of the lyrics:(

  • You can hear one of the sopranos is getting one octave higher at: 1:52. Very moving video:)

  • good to see the UK joining together and singing, such a wonderful friendly country. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!!!

  • shame they got the words wrong, its tack, not take

  • @NotFamousKid tack is take with a scottish accent...

  • no it isnt, tak is take in scots, i'm Scottish i know this

  • Wow, such a nice tradition!

I'm just discovering this concerts, but I have to admit, that they have already dragged me to their spell (do you say so? :-)

    Greatings from Austria!

  • *caught me under their spell

  • @hi262779 Thank you :-)

That's what you get when you use google's translator....

  • @Zeobit But you have wonderful concerts in Vienna too.

  • @Zeobit you have your own traditions of course... like the audience clapping to the Radetzky March during the New Year's Eve concert at the Vienna Philharmonic. Would love to go to that...

  • Der Höhepunkt jedes Jahres ,Danke

  • How wonderful it is to see such a huge hall full of people, singing together all night long, and then joining hands throughout the hall for one final tune: Auld Lang Syne.

  • Simply need to go there some day.... Och Aye Lads and Lassie's :-)))

  • Gets me every time! Thanks for the upload!
