GTP's run fine without any mods. I have a 2001 GTP and it'll fly. I just don't like front wheel drive. Torque steer is terrible if you are gassing it and changing lanes. My rear wheel drive Trans Ams are better suited for that, but other than that, I love my GTP! Nice looking car you have there. Mine is white 4dr with leather graphite interior. 27mpg on hwy driving 80!
@kronicbud52 I got a 97 gtp for 1300. It has some problems but im gona fix it up. I dont know if the supercharger works because there was no belt on it. I think the owner just didnt replace it.. A girl owned it.

@860125mwj Thanks. The stripes didn't look good at this point in the build. It needed to be more sporty for the stripes to work. I ended up lowering it, tinting the fronts, ditching the ugly tail lights, got new headlights with clear corners and some rims. Looks a lot better now. Click my name to watch some updated videos.

@Mr88Entertaiment I'm working on it. I have a dyno video putting down close to 340whp on 12 pounds of boost. It's on 14 lbs now. 11's on slicks no problem.
i might be getting a 00 gtp its all stock, besides the cold air intake what would you or anybody recommend on making it quicker. i keep hearing about different size pulleys. i cant do too much to the exhaust cuz i live in missouri and emisson laws here are killer thanks.
@TheButtpaste69 get some headers. That's all you will ever really have to do to the exhaust. As long as you have a catalytic converter and mufflers, you should pass emissions. Don't drop pulleys until you get headers. You can blow your engine real easy that way. With headers, intake, an after market pcm and a 3.5 or 3.4 inch pulley, I'm sure you can knock a good full second off your 1/4 mile.
@MonstaDippa ran low 13's and trapped 104 in this video. Now it runs mid-high 12s and at 108 without slicks. For a 15 year old 6 cylinder, it holds its own.
I do believe GM has a recall campaign out to fix the problem with the wipers, call your local GM dealer and find out more about it and get it fixed for free! Think the recall number is 99091 or 02049 one of those two, cuz i got a letter from my local dealer (where I had one recall taken care of) about these campaigns.
Have you had problems with the wipers .. I got a 97 GTP where the wiper arms and spindles stripped out.. Solved that problem temporarily with some gasket sealer that doesn't dry..
@nblracer325 One more question.. Have you had a problem with the ABS where the light will come on and stay on.. It'll also make the steering tight.. If you had that problem, what did you have to do to fix it?
@nblracer325 Usually if the ABS light comes on, you have a bad ABS sensor. Just replace the wheel hub or one with a new sensor. It's more of a pesky light than a performance or safety problem
@Maxmaj1q Yeah that's what I'm figuring is gonna have to get done eventually.. Since money issues are the prob right now, it's gonna have to unfortunately wait awhile.. It's not affectin anything major right now (except that the wheel will lock up) but that's no big.. Don't normally get there anyway lol.. @KymeraGR7 I feel you. On the other hand I'm pushing 195k now and running high 12's with my new Tune on a 3.1 pulley. My Gp has never given me any problems other than vacuum leaks every now and then and replacing sensors. Just basic maintenance. I know 2 guys running mid- low 12's with 250+ Thousand miles on the stock block. These engines are super reliable, It's just the small stuff that can become their downfall
@Maxmaj1q i know right? i wish they were consistent. some people like you seem to have gotten away with not any serious problems, then people like me had the manifold gasket/head gasket fail repeatedly. kinda hit or miss. like i said, my GTP blew the gaskets twice each, then i had a grand am GT that i turbo'd and it did the same. after nearly 8k in maintenance total on both i gave up :( but i'm DEFINITELY jealous of your car and your good luck with it!! :P
@KymeraGR7 That must be the 3.8L series 2, with the oil leak fire issue. If you still want to get a GP that has none of that. Look for Series 3 3.8L GTP in 04-05 . Or if your really lucky get a GXP with the 5.3L V8.

@LAUTRAED09 Straight pipes sound terrible on these cars. However, my car is not fully straight piped because i have mufflers. It's straight piped to the mufflers, meaning no u-bend, no catalytic converter, and no resonator. I sacrificed some of the sound quality for more power. But it still sounds decent when I rev it because I still have mufflers. And now that I have better sounding (dynomax) mufflers, it sounds really good.
@allblackls This is a pretty old video. I already got rid of the small pipe and built myself an airbox months ago. And Yeah I felt a little bit of a difference
oh I forgot, hit those taillights with some rubbing/polishing compound - You'll be glad you did! I did a pretty light coat of nightshade on mine and it kinda leaves that rough feel and duller look. The polishing compound makes it smoother and cleaner looking

@Raythizzel Thanks Man. I got a vs cam from ZZP. They run about 320. What you got on your gtp so far? If its nothin but a removed resonator, you want a bigger pulley than a 3.3. You should Grab a 3 inch downpipe and a 3.5 pulley. You'd be faster than a 3.3 with no resonator. But good luck on the GTP boss
Nice setup you got there, I'd pass on the rims being next, you already got most of the good power adders, I would go with an IC kit and pulley down more, then rims after that.
