I love this song but I'm sorry, I don't really like the fast tempo and sometimes Celine Dion just overdoes her covers. Cyndi Lauper's version is still so much better. But I give Celine Dion credit for her effort and her voice is still pretty flawless.

I love Celine; I've seen her in concert 3 times while she was at Ceasars Palace. THAT SAID: Cyndi's arrangment done in 1989 was where any real ground breaking revisions to Roy Orbison's orginal were made. It transitioned to pop and really came alive. Celine's version while very good, is a beat for beat copy of this arrangment. I love Celine; Lord help me as a gay man I can't help myself; but in this one instance she may as well be singing over Lauper's version.

My vote for the best version recorded amongst the 3 (Re: Roy, Cyndi, Celine) goes to Cyndi -- hands down!! I agree with "fatdanios" that Celine's voice power comes from much "effect", I personally find Roy's version lack the enotion that the song deserves .. and Cyndi's version is just so sensual (almost boardering on being erotic) and the greatness of Cyndi's voice is that it is 100% natural as apposed to Celine's which has had much professional vocal training

I used to love Cindy Lauper, but I must say this version is a lot more upbeat and well sang. Cindy is too erratic.

Besides, singing an old son in a different way gives it a new life that otherwise it would not have. People don't listen to the same old song forever...
