  • Skyrim sucks :\

  • was that physics baked in real-time or pre-baked? either way, it is awesome.

  • @BudtedB entire game/demo were complete bull shit

    nothing became of this

  • I heard this game is back in buisness.

  • If the creators are smart which is already obvious..Then the game will be released on the 360 and PS3 consoles...BTW Intel you can suck a huge dick it was the biggest mistake of the company cannceling the production of this game..Thank god the creators have enoguh drive and new sponsors to finish this project!

  • Thank you, intel, thanks to ruined my dreams!!! >:( I'll buy a AMD Phenom X6, mother FU**ERS

  • Comment removed

  • what a pity can't believe it will never go to retail

  • This game has been cancelled!

  • whre the h*** did the get those physics, theyre extreme!

  • Epic game!

  • wow incredible effects!

  • jesus i hope this comes out on ps3 lol

  • my brother in law is the executive producer of this game

  • Dude thats awesome! get some secret info out of him and give it to me! :D

  • lol such as? I got to play this at his work. He works at intel in Santa Clara Cali. His work is hella tight. Anyway theres gonna be some more knarley shit in this game and i know alot more behind it but im not allowed to tell. Its a suprise

  • If what you say is true then I kiss the ground at your feet dude. This game is my life. My one goal in life is to own Project Offset and die playing it. :P

  • lol nice man. Ill tell my bro. Maybe he can hook u up with the game b4 it comes out

  • @pvtjhon too bad the game got cancelled hahaha owned

  • @pvtjhon your life goal can never be achieved...how does it feel?

  • @pvtjhon lol shame that's not gonna happen.... :S

  • @imulsionofdeath Unless it's C-C-C-CANCELLED!

  • @imulsionofdeath

Too bad is got shut down.

  • @imulsionofdeath so? what happend?

  • Wow I hate you! :D

  • yea, and my brother in law is Elvis...

  • @abcRebel Really?? Lol. Naw I'm serious. And actually we might not see the game soon cuz his team just got fucked over. But he is still working on it at home which is a very timely process.

  • @imulsionofdeath Not anymore I guess lol....

  • @NarowAR07 Perfection can not be rushed.

  • when will it come out and what systems?

  • Computers only right now.

  • @cosmosvision never :(

  • Intel all the wayyy

  • awesome that will be the best real time game oblivion days are over

  • damn straight

  • monte zumas rache xD

  • ?????? what is it ?????????

  • Its a storm shooting down magical ice.

Its mostly a tech demo. Use the link on the side to sign up to the forums if you want to ask more questions.

  • Oh man, i've been dreaming of realtime raytracing ever since i rendered my first raytrace shadow in 3dstudio for dos, lol.

These are going to be good time... especially with all the competition going on. This can only result in good products!

  • PC> XBOX360> WII > PS3

    GG

  • PC >> PS3>Xbox 360>>>>Wii

  • Yep. It's pretty impressive stuff.

  • It's going to come out to PC first, or maybe come out when new gen consoles do. Thats the word.

  • Thats not the word at all.

PC only is the word so far.

As for as next gen 360 theres been no word at all on that. I heard talk about intel powering PS4 so that might come true. But its not really the word at all.

  • yeah its all rumor right now but rumor also stats that intel is talking to microsoft to have the larrabee chip in the next gen Xbox

  • Okay. I thought it was just PS3. If that does happen it could be cool to see a port for consoles.

  • PC can't cant run this I phone FTW!!!!

  • wow don't care about the physics we'll have to wait the next-gen for that level of detail, otherwise it's too much trouble for nothing. But the transition from day to scary with the thuner and all is like wow

  • Dude. How can you not care about physics?

  • Xdrari consoles will have to wait for next-gen to do this, I'm pretty sure a gaming rig should handle it, especially with an i7 and some sli'd 295 gtx's

  • Naa it will happen this gen.. theres still 8 more years left for PS3. No one ever thought Crysis would run on PS3 and 360 yet here it is.

  • Actually Crysis doesnt run its full potential on a PS3 and 360, and uses a shitload of the HDD

  • this is the LArrabee baby right there, hope its exclusive to it too. And i also hope larrabee GPUs runs on LGA775 mobo.

  • The PS3 cell can invest some memory into the graphical power, but not as much as high end PCs gaming rigs or a 360, the PS3 runs at a graphical chip equivalent to a DX9, PCs can run DX10 and the 360 can to, PS3 doesnt even use unified shaders. The PS3 Nvidia chip isnt even better than xenos, the nvidia chip is isnt as good PS3 cannot run this because of the lacking graphical power, eDRAM and also the bandwith on PS3 is shitty and distributes information unevenly, it would have frame rate issues.

  • Well if what you say is true...

The word pwned comes to mind.

  • PS3 cannot handle this game, it lacks the RAM and 360/PC tech is better than PS3, the PS3 cell is shit for programming and the xenos on 360 has a better filtrate then the RSX, and better textures and is a newer chip than the PS3's RSX. This game shits on Killzone 2, anyway Killzone 2 sucked, i think its not good on gameplay. PS3 wont see this game, the production values will be too high and anyway the PS3 version would be severely downgraded, the PS3 only invests 256MB for graphics...

  • ps3 could handle this

  • ps3 can't handle it's thread handle.

  • please have you seen KZ2 in action... about 10 more things are happening all at once than this. This did look good but it sure as hell isn't something the PS3 couldn't do.

Heck even PO team said it was possible.

  • I will say though that I'm excited for laughabee so it can force Nvidia to keep advancing and not sit around idly by and the same to AMD.

  • PS3 is amazing no doubt, but it cannot do this level of physics in real time...maybe with the downgraded visual quality it might be possible.

  • This is a tech demo for one. Also when did the PO team say it was possible and how long ago.

  • Yea, but it depends on what they are using, I can have tons of shitty objects with poor shaders doing stuff. But if they start using features that the PS3/Xbox360 dont support, consoles are off the list then. KZ2 looks great. but tbh, consoles are pretty poor. Their games are all shit resolution. But they do look fantastic on a HDTV. Consoles are great. But seriously, the physics in this vid, the shaders, learn a bit more, then speak.

  • You never awnsered my question. Also you just said the consoles are pretty poor, Then consoles are great. your not making any sense. Perhaps you should learn a lot more then speak. Hell I hardly said anything for you to even go on like that. Also if what your saying is PO is going to have tons of shitty objects with poor shaders well.... your a moron. and obviously from how you went off to nothing yeah. It supports my theory that you know nothing.

  • Well yep, the word pwned is the best word for this situation :D

  • Well then.

    Pwned.

  • Maybe. Probably not as well as the PC though. It is for the larrabee so there could be a whole bunch of stuff they havnt mentioned that the Engine could do. Also the PS3 isnt that much better then the 360. It just has more storage. So I still dont see the PS3 being able to handle it like a PC can.

  • Well for one they had it listed for the longest time on their website that they could do Project Offset on the PS3/360.

Also I'm sure a lot of people though it would be impossible to make a star wars force unleashed on a PS2 yet here that is.

Also I should clarify my position. I have been following PO since the day they released any info on the engine. Look at some of the later levels of KZ2 and you will see a lot of things happening on the screen that it makes you wonder how they could do it.

  • Heres an example:

In a fire fight you will see a couple drop ships land as you are in the middle of a fire fight. While that happens you notice dirt/smoke being kicked up and interacting with wind and the jet stream from the drop ships. As that happens you also notice grenades going off an the smoke moving with the wind. The AI is flanking you and behaving naturally as all these FX are going off. Then you have the lightning going off in the sky and then there's the motion blur and DoP that....

  • is happening on screen. (also the fantastic lighting and shadows)

The weapon also looks FAR FAR FAR more realistic than Crysis weapon and I'm pretty sure that is going to go for PO as well. Seriously look at the KZ2 weapon (especially in motion as you play it) the thing looks and moves so realistic that it feels like you are actually holding it. Hell only CG comes close to it.

  • Then there's the physics like the death animations (there are well over 100 variations) and the way the enemy reacts to the damage from your bullets. In KZ2 you don't need to worry about enemies being god like and soaking up your ammunition. They take a few rounds and die or behave wounded.

You can google some info that talks about how even a quad core processor wouldn't be able to handle all the features of KZ2 because of the limitation of the CPUs processing power. I forget the name of it...

  • but google it and you will find it.

  • Oh and if you are wondering I have been into building computers since 1997 and I have played been a PC user since 1990.

I played all the greats like Wolfenstein, Duke 3D, Commander Keen, X-Com UFO Defense, X-Com Terror from the Deep, Alone in the Dark, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Crusader No Remorse/No Regret, MechWarrior, JANES AH-64D Longbow Gold, Seal-Team, System Shock 1-2, Thief 1-2, Deux Ex, Dune 2 the building of a Dynasty, Elemental Saga, Redmoon, Unreal, Q1, Q2, HL etc...

  • and many more I couldn't list.

As you can see I'm not just some console fanboy lol.

  • HAHAHAHAH u are fucking fucking fucking retarded.... a quad core could easily handle it let alone an i7 processor.. damn u are the most ignorant fanboy ever haha dumbass

  • You're a fool. You have no idea what the specs are for this based on a tech demo for physics.

  • no you are wrong , i wasnt talking about project offset, i was talking to the moron who thinks that the ps3 processor is superior to everything else and that a pc processor can not run kz2

  • Oh. Well in the case your a poopy face.

  • lol? what do you mean by that?

  • Impressive wall of text. I'm glad were playing KZ2. Also you cant say it can be made for PS3/360 because they was way befor Intel.

  • Actually it doesn't really matter because the engine was mostly complete. So far they haven't shown a lot more than we have already seen back then.

  • But of course intel is gonna try to say its only possible on laughabee since they are making it.

P.S. I call it laughabee cause Nvidia called it that and I just like it, but I do like the chip.

  • Clever joke.

  • and they'll make sure it wont run on an nvidai card ;)

  • finally more footage! looks a little better than id tech 5. will be awesome

  • this looks impressive

  • It sure does.

  • PC Exclusive for this game, Console users got owned!

  • Id say thats the wrong word. It would never work at full for consoles. Consoles would just hold it back. Its not a manner of what should get to play this game but what logically is he best to run it. PC is for PO. Not 360 or PS3.

  • lol look up id tech 5 and cryengine 3

  • VERY VERY WELL DONE

  • Umm, my post disappeared? Guess i can't post links... Well anyway there's a HD version of this video on the Project Offset website. Check it out if you get the chance. (mind adding a link to the video descr, pvtjhon?)

  • Done!

  • nice save :)

  • I cant help but worry this will run incredibly bad on anything but larrabee GPU's...

It looks so brilliant for in game, surely it would be more costly in terms of engine power than crysis? Or is it so well designed that it can run on 40 fps even on lets say.. top of the range nvidia cards?

Do you know anything about it in that respect? :o.

  • I can tell you with confidence that this game won't be coming out for at least a year or so, meaning the graphics industry will gain some ground by then. Larrabee GPU's are going to be good, but really i doubt they'll be miles above top nVidia cards or anything. I'd expect to be able to play the game reasonably on a $150 GPU when it comes out, as a guess.

  • I have a Nvidia GTX260 Black edition atm, reckon it will be good enough to run this game on high?

Take into account that they all keep saying how brilliantly designed the engine is too :o.

  • Mainly, the brilliance of the engine is that it gives great graphics while minimizing development time (so we gamers get lots more quality content). It should be about what you'd expect, as far as requirements on hardware. I think you'll be able to play it for sure on that card, but if it's another two years before it comes out, you will want to upgrade to get the game "on high". Really depends on when they release, and they haven't announced.

  • @ jigenD - i think if you click through some of the other vids you'll find evidence that the shadow tech is in there.

i don't know anything about that kinda stuff but a few of the videos demonstrate what appears to be a real-time light source casting real time shadows

  • yeah this looks cool and all, but they do this alot in games right? like they show a really cool scene in some demo/trailer, but it looks utterly crap in the game due to other enemies and characters in the area?

  • Ugh... dude no. Just no. The game will look just as amazing as this.

  • I meen I can understand where your coming from I just think its the wrong place to come from. Becuase this looks good the game will look bad? Not really any basis for that.

  • no i dont mean that in a negative light, its just a general observation

  • yeah lots of games do get hyped up a lot and then turn out to be worthless... there's an older trailer (search "leaked project offset" on youtube) that has a little gameplay and stuff. I'm definitely pretty optimistic about this game, so let's just hope for the best :)

  • :o

    Amazing!

  • Not vaporware really - the devs were looking for a sponsor, so they tried to get some hype, and then they got their sponsor (Intel). Game's still coming along nicely, and is supposedly going to come out *roughly* alongside Larrabee... The site is supposed to be updated a lot over the next few weeks, too, so I'd recommend checking there.

  • Good job showing whats what.

  • Wasn't this game announced back in 2006? Talk about vaporware.

  • when the hell are we going to see actual game play?? This game is as bad as Alan Wake.

  • Every time I watch this video I jizz in my pants.

  • WTF no real time shadowing? Get some shadow maps going guys, this isn't 2006!

Decent particle effects and motion blur / camera shake, but really it doesn't hold up to high end graphics standards. Watch some cutscenes from Killzone 2 or Resident Evil 5.

99% of modern games have dynamic shadows, there's no excuse to not have them in a game coming out years from now...

  • The game will have "real time ambient occlusion" which i believe amounts to real-time shadowing... Not sure why we aren't seeing it here, though.

  • Actually that isn't a dynamic shadowing effect. The technique gives the impression of shadows and is really nice looking, it may even be in the video, but it's a very subtle effect and you can't usually see it in video.

Crysis, Killzone 2, FEAR 2 (360 and PC versions only), GTA4, and Gears of War 2 all have AO.

The video clearly lacks decent real time shadows though. A game like STALKER, Gears 2, and Killzone 2 do nice shadow changes for lightning flash type-effects. It's simple to do now

  • Why the hell are people rating me down for my previous comment anyways. Stop being butthurt fanboys and learn some technology. God damn.

  • I upvoted your one comment because you did make point. However I dont think we can judge much from this video. It was always to me the way Sam described the shadows was they really wanted them to stand out so as we see more videos I would think we will see better stuff. I think this was perhaps a teaser. Hopefully will see better videos to really get a better look at project offset.

    Also my butt hurts. :(

  • I wouldn't be surprised if they did add dynamic shadows in the future. I'm surprised that the visuals look so complete otherwise. The lack of dynamic shadows for the environment would be a real blow to the visuals.

  • Indeed. I meen I love looking at games and just looking at effects. a perfect example is the smoke effects from the KZ2 spawn grenades how they move into a building then out its windows. I love just throwing down a spawn grenade in the middle of a fire fight and watching the effects. It's beauitful to me. Now imagine what a fantasy epic FPS could do like that. I think when PO comes out half the time I'll be watching the sun or a flower blow in the wind.

  • man i am sad that this was cancelled for the 360

  • It was never announced for the 360. Never was vaporware Nanakon2008. 2006? Yeah and it didnt have a publisher for the longest time. As bad as Alan Wake? Not even close. Same thing. And theres more to come as GDC un folds.

  • Nice, but then tech demos in limited scenes usually are.

  • looks great! cant wait for next gen XD

  • Thank god. I thought this was cancelled

  • I believe I came for every meteor that hit.

  • Isnt it. Isnt it indeed.

  • sick

  • awesome!

  • It's beautiful
