This is a good plan. There is security in numbers but there are problems with your plan. Once construction has started, you can be found by using a free tool called Google earth. 10 miles from 101 wouldnt be hard to find. Keep in mind this is a free tool on the internet. Imagine what the Government has to spy on you. You will be found if the government wants to find you. Possibly they wont care if you start your own community but I doubt it. I'm as scared as you are of what is going to come.

In any case, takeing out "insurance" is wise ( food storage, precious metals etc) but my advice is to maintain one's steadyness above all else. If this destracts a person's focus from education (for instance) it could proove disasterously costly, and like being swept up in a religious cult, can be mentaly destabliseing and effect all aspects of the way one lives. It can turn a person into a "one-track mind". My advice is to pursue any dreams you have regardless of this economic concern.
What you are saying is inescapeably true, and although I try to hide it now, to be frank, I'm "worried". But too many are saying that all out collapse and armageddon will come of it, which is drawing a long bow. I hate to say it, but if mankind inists on "filling up the petri dish", (by overpopulation & insistance on a constantly frowing economy) it may eventuate, but that could take decades yet. For now, I feel it's just "hard times, not end times" ( a new catch-cry I've heard)

But it is another thing to know even more, after processing an equation with much more information and less conspiracy theory, fear and anxiety. I've come to a personal conclusion that it is unlikely to get that bad. I've looked for 'insurance" tthat will bennefit me no matter what happens. Silver and gold, for instance are more risky than many relise. I suggest hordeing tungsten amoung other things.
