You can't buy a cheap good game computer, you can't change all components, you can't play hard-core 64-bits games, you can install mac os x on pc (hacintosh, iPC, iAtkos, Kalyway etc) So you can choose, I have both, a good game PC and MacBook Pro 13" Unibody, so I can say my opinion...

Good vid, the first bit was funny. But if you are a power user when it comes to PC's, you're going to know how to fix basically any problem, like myself. I have a macbook and I love it, everything in OS10 is very straightforward. So really, for my main OS, if I had a mac pro (for the power) I would probably run OSX as my main OS. But atm I am very happy with my custom built beast PC (built by moi)

yes dude, i accept that, but canonical has done a very good job in the case of ubuntu. Its installation is just so easy with a few clicks.. and mostly every hardware gets detected .. and a lot of good desktop effects to excite you. Linux has already become user friendly in Ubuntu version. Things will improve over time...in the acceptance rate

1. Just wait until your macs break warranty. They start going to hell. I have had about equal problems with a MacOSX computer after a year as i did with a windows vista computer of the same age. 2. That windows computer was running Vista. 3. Mac OS is incompatible with 90% of the market. You can't really use them for business unless your entire business uses them. Also thats why there aren't many viruses for them. There is no point. The worst is a Level 3 and that is pushing it.

Well basically, do you want a desktop or laptop computer? If you'll only be using it at home, then iMac's the way to go. But if you want to be able to travel with it, whether for work or school, then go with a Macbook.

Also, it depends what you'll be using it for. If you're doing a lot of graphics-related things, for example, the big screen on the iMac is better, as it's bigger.

The reason Windows PC's have issues is because the original IBM PC was cloned and Microsoft led the way!

Apple is the IBM of today with a closed system where the same company that builds the hardware also writes the software.

im not drbuk but deactivate your songs and transfer them to the hard drive. go into ur music folder and back up the itunes folder. then transfer that folder to you mac music folder and overwrite. but before open itunes and set up.then open itunes and activate your songs.

Adobe's CS Stuff, FinalCut Studio, Shake (look at the licencing price OS X vs Linux), QuarkXpress....

You could go for a Windows system too, but with a Mac , You've got access to Mac Only Appps +Windows only Apps along with your Linux...

the "particular reason" being up to you if you decide to earn you money with tools unavalaible on Linux...

Hey Drbunk.Great post.I switched recently and i have a mac mini.Would you recommend the 20 inch aluminum imac or the mini.Iopened my mini and put 3gb in it(ram).Alittle cosmetic damage was caused during this process but its fine.How nice is the screen?I dont care about glossyness,i do worry about washed out color and dimming.thanks

oh i love my imac, the screen is BLISS the colours resolution is just beautiful. the gloss screen helps it look as nice as possible. i mean i have my brigtness at zero and forget its at zero an try reduce it.lol. plus u got better graphics card in the imac over the mac mini. so ye imac is a real nice system. no issues so far

Apple is using what brand of HDD is avalaible as long those HDD do pass their internal sample test, then they buy a lot of them to put in their computer and stuff, and if there is a problem with one particular HDD model, the HDD constructor pay for the replacement (as Sony did for the Battery problem), and eventually Apple change Its HDD dealer...

not to jinx myself, but neither of my Windows-based laptops have given me problems in the 5+ years I've owned them (and any "problems" weren't hardware/software-related, but instead were due to my getting familiar with XP)... so to say that problems are inevitable isn't necessarily true.  I guess some people are just more prone to creating problems than others?

You just got used to all those problems, so they are not problems for you anymore, but On a mac, those Windows "non-problems, that cause you to loose time" do not exist, so you have more time to do your work. Simple as that, And yes I had a PC for a year, switched to an iMac, because i had a chance, but before the PC, I used An Old UMAX S900 Pulsar (Mac Clone), Still works like charm, and it is 12 years old.

macs are not infallible, i have had a handful of issues though the years, but side by side with windows its like stubbing a toe compared to being in a plane crash

I've been earning a living using a dual G4 tower for the last 4 years, it runs Tiger surprisingly well (dont know about Leopard on the G4 though), just make sure you have at least 2gb ram

I doesn't compare to my new Mac Pro but definitely useable
