  • this is one of my favorite movies, the cinematography alone is worth watching

  • OOMPH used German dubs from this movie in their album Defect! Thus it automatically becomes cool.

  • Im sorry but this is not great film making the vampire in idaho has an obvious british accent. why was she cast?

  • I love moody, artistic shit and this movie has it by the coffin-load.

  • Pedophilia must be older than time! It's too bad Chris Hanson and To Catch A Predator was around in the fifties!

  • why didnt the kid tell the cops that the killings were done by the gang in the car??was he so blinded of his belief of vampires?

  • @LucLeFou Why didn't kids tell the parents their priests were sexually abusing them?? were they so blinded by their faith in God?

  • @Putrid186

    interesting reply..

  • interesting, different..

  • Philip Ridley may be closer to developing a psychology of religion than just about anyone.

  • viggo mortensen?.. i may have to watch this one..

  • @calijv1 When big name actors take parts in films that most will never hear of, it's usually because the script is brilliant.

  • it should have been on dvd years ago!, yet they overlook these great films and release so much crapola!.

  • I was awestruck by this film when it came out in 1990 and have a VHS copy, but have been waiting for years for a DVD release. The beauty and sheer genius of the story telling and images left me speechless when i first saw it and still fills me with wonderment on each subsequent viewing.

  • When I was a a teenager my buddy and I stayed up late at night drinking and smoking (we were tossed!) and this came on. Except for the "oh man" and "oh shit" we were silent the entire film lights out. When it was over we asked each other "did that just happen?" We tried to find out more about the film but it was long before internet and DVD. It wasn't until just recently like almost 20 years later I find out what the name is. I looked all over for this one and I believe the only versi is vhs

  • Фильм на 10/10.

  • Фильм на 10/10.

  • It is a truly brilliant film. Relentless and stunnning. Loved the Krays too.

  • I grew up reading all Philip Ridley's surreal children's books, and I was real interested to learn he also made films.... I badly need to see this. Passion of Darkly Noon was great, though I saw Heartless yesterday and was a bit disappointed, but this looks very interesting.

  • This movie is fucking GENIUS!!! One of the bestests I've ever seen.

  • There is a dvd of this. Coolduder has just done his new dvd update and has a copy of it.

  • i don't get what this movie is about,is it good anyone?

  • one of the best films ever

  • A must-watch movie!

  • I had a copy of this movie back in the 90's and I would make every single person that I knew watch it with me. I was absolutely obsessed with it. I can't believe that it never had much of a following.

  • It's a great gothic horror film never released on dvd yet!..only vhs years ago,we need a dvd!.

  • a bit on the pedophillac side isn't it?

  • @CupisHomines thats what the brits like

  • BEST MOVIE EVER.

  • I saw this movie on late night CBC when I saw a teen.. Really hope to get ahold of a copy somewhere to watch it again!!

  • I'm posting the full movie, as I say in the description, please be patient on uploads :) but it will all be up soon. Merry Christmas.

  • This looks very moody. I just saw his new one 'Heartless' at Leeds film fest. Its really worth checking out if you like off beat horror

  • i love this film!

  • a beautiful,haunting,disturbing,film.

1st class acting and an astonishing film

    soundtrack by Nick Bicat.

  • Been Blowing up FROGS AGAIN.lol

  • wow i found this accidentally and i am blown away! was this movie an influnece for tideland by terry gilliam??

  • @Luxgal I was also thinking Tideland when I saw this ...

  • A truly great movie.

  • Philip Ridley is the most oddest and brilliant man ever, you should read some of he's stage plays, The pitchfork disney and Ghost from a perfect place. Disturbingly brilliant.

  • He's also one of the nicest! I'm particularly partial to his plays for teenagers, "The Storyteller Sequence". He has a new film called Heartless out later this year, watch out for it!

  • there was a movie i used to watch and i have forgotten what it was

but i remeber it was abot a vampire kid and his family and he becomes friends with a human.. any ideas???

the human kid is blonde, and at one point there is a cow that i think is a vampire

  • The little vampire

  • Amazing film!

  • I completely forgot about this movie, and i just had horrific flashbacks of the gasoline scene, ughhh and the baby, my god this film is truly bizarre. thanks for the memories, i think?

  • Your named little bastard, hmm sorry to hear.

  • i got my name from that movie lol

  • must see movie if you can stomach the abuse scene involving the child being forced water as well as the rather distubring scene involving the frog (Don't ask! Just watch!)

  • I only saw this for the first time last year because it starred Viggo Mortensen (who I'm a big fan of). Also, it was directed by Philip Ridley who was behind the beautiful "Passion of Darkly Noon". What can I say? Much darker than "Darkly" and the cast was eprfect, especially the English woman, the creepy child and of course Viggo as his older brother.

I think it is the world from the eyes of an innocent and abused (and slightly disturbed) young child. Very disturbing to watch but a

  • i love this strange, beautiful film. thanks for posting this. i hope this gets the word out about this classic film.

  • surely that's what I can call a "cult movie".

I've seen it so many times, a kind of hidden masterpiece (at cinema and on vhs at home). The mother is pretty scary, the scene where she oblige his son to drink water is very intense...

  • this movie looks AWESOME.

  • the real monsters are not vampires, seth dove learns that through the course of this grand film.

  • I have tried looking everywhere for this and a few places have it on VHS...sadly there is no news of it coming to DVD anytime.

I really want to see this!

  • i love this film...the only way i could like it any better would be if david lynch had his name in the credits. this is a haunting and beautiful film...one that stays in your mind for a long, lingering time. john

  • Seems like a very "under the radar" type of movie.

I have never heard of this before until now.

    It seems strange but interesting.

    Thanks for posting this!

  • If you find a dead baby oozing with sores in a barn, what do you do?

    A.)Notify the authorities.

    B.) Run away

C.) Get in fight with your friend over who gets to keep it and then keep it in a box under your bed.

  • totally c!

    I so loved this film

  • why the vampires? they have such little to do with the film, and i feel like it was just an add-on to make it more creepy. i blogged about this at thereflectingskin.wordpress dot com

  • I thought the vampires was a metaphor for child abducters. Correct me if I'm wrong but imo the movie is life seen through the eyes of a very sad, insecure however very imaginative child.

  • this movie is awesome,i seen it like over 10 years ago or so, i tell everyone about it, its hard to explain all the weird stuff that goes on, i think i will be looking for a copy of this one, people just got to see it,

  • I saw this movie when I was 8 or 9 and I thought it was so creepy then..I saw it again when I was 14 or so and thought it was great. I've not seen it since but I always tell people about the baby haha. I'd love to buy it but everywhere i see it always wants so much for it!

  • I love this movie too much, he really touched my heart and still can't stop to wonder myself

  • What is it about? I still dont understand...

  • it's hard to explain this movie, it's about different things...children immagination, frustrations, love, omophobia, pedophilia, vampires, angels, ... try to find it, it's really wonderful!

  • thanks 4 the tip!

  • This looks to be an amazing film--I love Lindsay, and the story itself seems captivating. ^.^

  • God, I so love to see this film. Where the hell is the DVD release?

  • I can't believe this film isn't on DVD YET!.it's one of the best horror films of the 90's and beyond..an overlooked classic!..we need a dvd now!..

  • The movie was actually distributed on Criterion laserdisc, so... It's possible that one of these days Criterion might pick this one up and restore it.

  • No, Criterion have never released The Reflecting Skin. The laserdisc was released by Live Home Entertainment (now Lionsgate). I've already had to correct you about this on the IMDB board; please stop spreading misinformation, no matter how well-intended.

  • you'll get over it.

  • I was born over it. Just don't want people to believe Criterion released this on LD and make asses of themselves by asking questions about it everywhere.

  • You need a life, man.

  • RLM, I really have no intent to antagonise you - I'm as big a fan of this film as you, and want a special edition DVD just as much. (Especially if Criterion were involved; can't wait to get their new Days Of Heaven DVD.)

Anyway, a Region 2 UK special edition may be forthcoming, a company have just acquired the rights. Let's hope it happens.

  • Say something else, I dare you!

  • this is one of my favourite movies...simple fantastic!

  • I cried at the end of this movie!

  • wow cool vid !! well done. ma sis she viggo sed u little bastard n i sed he didnt but when i looked @ it agen she was right lol !!
