@gwalavalkar Nuclear power plant is the ONLY large scale clean power source, how will we power our chemical plants and manufacturing factories when the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow...which is called a calm night....I like renewable power but I think that Nuclear is way better than coal or oil and at this point wind and solar simply do not have the 'energy density' to power us...maybe in the future, nuclear's all we have now..the other option is a candles..imported from China ;)

What it DOES do, however, is affect the navigation of bees, migratory birds, whales...it's playing hob with animals that use the earth's magnetic field to navigate, and might actually be responsible for the dying off of the bees. It also can affect people's minds...and that is the scariest part about it, I think.

@UkTruthSeeker2009 The thing about HAARP is that it doesn't really cause earthquakes, or affect the weather, or any of the stuff a lot of people have come to believe about it. What it DOES do, however, is affect the navigation of bees, migratory birds, whales...it's playing hob with animals that use the earth's magnetic field to navigate, and might actually be responsible for the dying off of the bees. It also can affect people's minds...and that is the scariest part about it, I think.

@UkTruthSeeker2009 It's already been demonstrated that a magnetic field can actually interfere with human brain functions...and HAARP fires these enormous bursts of electromagnetic energy into the ionosphere, where they 'skip' or bounce off at high altitude and can come down to the surface THOUSANDS of miles away. Very seriously dangerous stuff, they're messing with, and I wish someone would do something to stop that program, permanently.

@TheMercilessEye Yeah, go ahead, depend on "green energy" sourses that we won't be able to use effectivly for decades, and do more dammage to Nature than any other method, due to their effects around them, such as windmills kill birds in the area, hydro electric harms fish, and so on, I can use the same kind of arguements you so called activsts use against you. If we had drilled in our country 10 years ago, we would not be in this situation in the first place.

Yes, thank you, I WILL continue to support research on green energy and oppose the far more harmful drilling and mining which is destroying entire ecosystems in this country and around the world, though I do oppose hydroelectric power. You can try those arguments you mentioned, but you'll inevitably fail. Thank you for your support and encouragement. You have failed utterly to convince me of any other course of action.

vandana shiva is an idiot. talking non sense about solar and renewable. Solar energy or nuclear energy cannot satiate the need for energy for india or any other country in the world. Nuclear power will end india's energy requirements. She does not represent india or the people of jaitapur. she represents herself. There are only 2 options for india -- coal or nuclear.

@gwellyn2 In US, the most developed country in the world, almost 86% of energy comes from fossil fuels (source: wiki). Do you seriously expect a poor and developing country like india to use expensive "clean" sources of energy when it can grow rapidly by using inexpensive coal or nuclear.

Even if for the sake of argument, I assume that the free energy theory is good, then India as a third world country cannot expose the conspiracy. lets assume it takes another 20 years for world to realize that free energy is indeed possible. so you want poor countries like india to remain underdeveloped and poor by not increasing electricity consumption and production nd keep on waiting for free energy?

But the fact is that world cant even agree to carbon emission regulations. there are no instant solutions. but the governments have to think 20 years in future and make investments accordingly. whenever free energy becomes practical reality, it will revolutionize the world. it will be second industrial revolution. But until that time countries have no option but to use coal and nuclear.

Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide have risen steadily in emissions over the years...and yes, while depleted Uranium and other radiation sources are serious, they pale compared to the overall increase in global temperature. All must be dealt with, but unless we stabilize the increase in global temperature rise, your little island is soon going to become the new Scottish Archipelago...

@gwellyn2 dude i am of indian origin . i know facts. there is extreme power shortage in india. adequate power and electricity will increase india's growth rate by 2-3% points and will help millions of people come out of poverty and hunger. the argument I am trying to make is that from india's point of view, it makes more sense to use inexpensive sources of energy. All countries in the world generate most of their electricity using fossil fuels.

@TheMercilessEye I completely agree that fossil fuels and nuclear usage will cause irreparable damage. But it is also an elitist argument. When people die of hunger and poverty, only thing they care about is existence. And rapid industrialization and growth is the only way to end hunger. And to achieve rapid growth countries need electricity. and cheapest and easiest sources of energy that are available are coal and nuclear.
