I think Palladino is a good bassist but he's no entwistle. I mean really, doing the bass solo to my generation without the littlest gain is just wrong.
@achickensandwich I get what your saying but John covered the whole musical spectrum when he played and Pete and Robert new this. Pino is an awesome bassist but he just doesn't have the right tone for anything I've heard him play and that's his downfall, bad tone.
and Ringo a really good friend of him, did you know that once in a club around 68 keith went in a restaurant to the beatles, asking if he can join, they say, take a seat and he says, no i meant your band.
and john is like, no sorry, we already got a drummer.
It's good to see The Who are still rockin' but being a bass player I can tell you that "The Ox" has no substitute. Palladino is a great bass player (no doubt!!) but John was the character, sound, attack, dynamics of the band. The Ox is to the Who what Bonham was for Led Zep. Long Live The Ox!!!!!!
Dude, I'm well aware of that. It's just that many of us old farts still miss him, and wish he wasn't, is all.
And if you read my comment properly, you'll see that I say that the Who STILL kick any other band's arse...
The chemistry between the band is different. But they're still great. However, the original line up was still the best. Not many would disagree with me, I don't think.
Rogger still has a good voice shit hes crazy the who is still up their. i herd led zeppelin in the 2,000 their all stoned RObert plans voice is not that good anymore
Palladino may be good, but he's smiling during the solo. He needs to look bored out of his mind. Otherwise it don't work....

I like how Roger looks young while Pete looks older than Mick Jagger or Peter Frampton.

Shame on the BBC for cutting this short. It didn't just peter out to nothing. Check it out on the Encore CD of this gig if you can track one down....

@bassplaya137 I think by changing his style to imitate Entwistle he'd get more criticism than just being himself.

one thing to keep in mind about palladino is that he's nowhere near as loud as the ox was
DKJ999 2 years ago
The Drummer is Zac Starkey, former Oasis Drummer and the beatles very own "Ringo Starr`s" son.

If The Who ever needed any evidence that the are still utterly adored...this is it, right here! And they still kick any other band's arse out there.
Such a shame that Keith and John aren't here to be part of it. Zak and Pino are good, but they're not Keith and John. Nobody ever could be.
