  • Palladino may be good, but he's smiling during the solo. He needs to look bored out of his mind. Otherwise it don't work....

  • I like how Roger looks young while Pete looks older than Mick Jagger or Peter Frampton.

  • @XiaNingTian what drugs do to you mate.

  • Shame on the BBC for cutting this short. It didn't just peter out to nothing. Check it out on the Encore CD of this gig if you can track one down....

  • I think Palladino is a good bassist but he's no entwistle. I mean really, doing the bass solo to my generation without the littlest gain is just wrong.

  • @bassplaya137 I think by changing his style to imitate Entwistle he'd get more criticism than just being himself.

  • @achickensandwich I get what your saying but John covered the whole musical spectrum when he played and Pete and Robert new this. Pino is an awesome bassist but he just doesn't have the right tone for anything I've heard him play and that's his downfall, bad tone.

  • great crowd

  • Incredible outstanding power!

  • wow ... talk about audience participation !! ... awesome !!

  • Killed the bass solo.

  • Zak does keith justice

and does the next best job

  • @SH3L70N Yep I agree. I always find it funny that Keith Moon taught Zak how to play the drums instead of Ringo

  • is this festival as big as the one in 1970? with nearly 600000 people?

  • no ye thick cunt

  • Looks like hardcore Who fans in the audience :)

  • is that at the isle of wight?

  • yep.

as it says in the descripttion

  • This one is really miss John and Keith from it.

  • Keith Moon was the godfather of Zak Starkey !

  • and Ringo a really good friend of him, did you know that once in a club around 68 keith went in a restaurant to the beatles, asking if he can join, they say, take a seat and he says, no i meant your band.

and john is like, no sorry, we already got a drummer.

  • one thing to keep in mind about palladino is that he's nowhere near as loud as the ox was

  • The Drummer is Zac Starkey, former Oasis Drummer and the beatles very own "Ringo Starr`s" son.

  • It's good to see The Who are still rockin' but being a bass player I can tell you that "The Ox" has no substitute. Palladino is a great bass player (no doubt!!) but John was the character, sound, attack, dynamics of the band. The Ox is to the Who what Bonham was for Led Zep. Long Live The Ox!!!!!!

  • Cool drumming! Keeps it close to Kieth's feel and ads his own touch.

  • Nobody`s better than Thunderfingers!!

Gino Palladino has a stupid sound!!

  • Great to see that ZACK STARKEY / JASON BONHAM are holding on their own.

  • YEAH, I know The Ox is the greatest but Pino Palladino really rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If The Who ever needed any evidence that the are still utterly adored...this is it, right here! And they still kick any other band's arse out there.

Such a shame that Keith and John aren't here to be part of it. Zak and Pino are good, but they're not Keith and John. Nobody ever could be.

  • @lexy67flc Keith is dead.....!!!!

  • Dude, I'm well aware of that. It's just that many of us old farts still miss him, and wish he wasn't, is all.

And if you read my comment properly, you'll see that I say that the Who STILL kick any other band's arse...

The chemistry between the band is different. But they're still great. However, the original line up was still the best. Not many would disagree with me, I don't think.

  • ZAK ROCKS!

  • without john :(

  • Now this is what I call a kickass rock n roll concert!!!!!!

  • The Who - My Generation @ Isle of Wight-festival, UK, 12 June 2004

  • the crouds singing louder than roger!

  • love the sequence from ca. 1:15 to 1:25

  • who's the bassist? John died in 2002 right?

  • That's right, Pino Palladino has been playing the bass with The Who since.

  • He's also the Bass player with the John Mayer Trio

  • Pino on Bongo Bass!

  • :O

    I know. WTF?

  • Zak owns his dad.

  • lmfao!

    Both are amazing drummers.

  • Ringo is a Beatle. Can't top that.

  • Sure ya can. Beatles < Who

  • Rogger still has a good voice shit hes crazy the who is still up their. i herd led zeppelin in the 2,000 their all stoned RObert plans voice is not that good anymore

  • o my god the crowd is louder thah the band

  • Zack Starckey is a very good drummer also he is very talented like his father Ringo Star

  • I was there and it was fucking awesome !!!!!!!!!

  • 40 years on its un-fucking believable what they still are able to do

  • im sure ringo is proud of his boy

  • Ringo didn't want Zak to be a drummer. He wanted him to be a doctor a lawyer. But if i was Ringo i would be well proud.

  • i can't wait for the rock honors this year

  • Just not the same without The Ox...

  • i agree...Pino is pretty damn good..but its definetly not the same without Ol' Thundefingers on the 4 string

  • Legend!!! ... Pino really has that Entwistle tone happening!
