  • @doctorHOUSE Get a life.

  • Top Free Apps for WP7: ASCII SMS

ASCII SMS is a collection of more than 300 Ascii SMS messages with topics of love, Christmas, family, wishes... With ASCII SMS, you can send fun and meaningful messages to your family members and friends on Christmas, birthday, Halloween and even sweet messages to your beloved.

  • 1 Thing I still dont like, they should seriously get rid of cleartype and come up with something else. I've been a windows user all my life, and since june last year i've got a mac and I already had an iPod Touch. Not to sound apple fanboyish, but text looks waaaaay better on macs.

  • @YourPervertNextDoor I've tried one of those styli and I must say it was very unpleasant experience. Maybe it was just too cheap, dunno where my friend got it, but it prevented me from getting one of those ultracheapo stylus from ebay :)

  • bfore making an os for mobile phone's, they should make a list of things they have to put in os, so that end user don't complain about it.

  • Looks good in my opinion for a beta. I like how the icon appears on top of the keyboard unlike on IOS, you have to touch the screen where you type which sucks.

  • Fail, Hope MS WP7 brain dead baboons are aware!

  • @launchsa it's a prototype, if you haven't noticed on engadget.

  • @rivengle What was wrong with the Windows Mobile 6 Cut / Copy & Paste? Use something that works. Everyone at Microsoft should be forced to use Window Mobile 6 for one year to learn!

  • Awesome YouTube update allows us to comment *sarcastic gesture*

  • What!? 0.35min to copy and paste just 1 word is way too long.

  • @vamp1ng

You do of course understand this is a BETA right?

  • that sucks... far behind android 2.3

  • @zabique duh its only just been released, its practically a beta

  • @zabique It's funny hearing an Android user talking crap about someone else's C&P that is barely fixed on gingerbread.

  • admittedly, this is a less elegant solution than the iphone's, but it's better than none i guess. btw, i think the criticism about the lack of copy and paste is overrated. the iphone didn't have this feature for 2 years and that didn't stop people from buying the iphone. people who criticize windows phone 7 are just narrow minded. even if you hate microsoft, which there are many, you still want phone 7 to succeed because the marketplace for smartphones would be more competive and dynamic.

  • Looks ugly but effective. I wouldn't mind a little more flash and make it easier to see.

  • Seriously? That looks crappy as hell.

  • @ssspinball Not really, looks like C&P

  • I would have gotten a windows phone if I was with AT&T but t-mobile just has that big ass HTC HD7 4.3 inches is too big for me

  • @TyRetr0 Dell Venue Pro is 4.1inch which is decent.

  • This sucks ;) iOs is the best mobile OS :D omg windows sucks.... hehe

  • @Account21345 yeah well windows ain't the best, but iOS is not the best mobile OS ;) android is. the only thing iOS has over the android OS is the apps. apps make the iPhone preferable. iOS ain't nothing really cool. it's simple as fuck, it has little customization options .. it's ridiculous to say it is the best ..

  • @ZiMask Android lacks a streamlined UI, perfect touch response, and guarenteed updates from Google.

  • @Account21345 lol? iOS (idk if u can call that sh*t OS) ... When you start you iS*it you only see apps.. and again apps.. and again and again.. ... NOTHING ELSE !

  • Fail !!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool! not that I've EVER used copy and paste on a phone, but it will be nice to have this rolled out to my phones.

  • top!

  • Lame...

  • nice but this is clearly a stylus-only feature. I'm not hating, I just ask how many new WP7 devices come with a stylus.

  • Lol haters. Instead of complaining, commend WP7 for listening to its critics and coming out with a update that fixes a major shortcoming. Note that Apple released it only in iphone os 3.0. Microsoft has done a commendable job so far with WP7. Fix more of the issues and you will be a leading phone OS, WP7 ftw!

  • @TejasM14 agreed!!!! WP7 has far more potential than iOS or Android. They have a few things that desperately need fixing - such as the incredibly overpriced marketplace and issues with MMS. And the Copy/paste and multitasking obviously!

Other than that, once these issues are resolved, Google and Apple will be playing catch ups and will be copying Microsoft's lead!

  • LOL I think such an advancement in mobile technology deserves nothing less than a Nobel Prize...

  • @solomidplz : The point is that, Apple was given hell for not having it in 2008 or so. Now, it's two years later, and Microsoft gets a pass on not including it? It's not a direct comparison between Microsoft and Apple, and it's not saying that it was ok for Apple to not include it sooner than they did, it's just that, in this day and age, copy / paste is expected. It's not a feature anymore, it's standard.

  • @Midnightblues94 But at the same time, MS told the public that the devices would indeed get copy and paste...Apple simply shrugged their shoulder and said we don't need it.

  • People seem to think just because WP7 didn't have Copy & Paste from the beginning, it's OK that Apple didn't have it on their OS either. A reminder: WP7 is 6 months old (?) and Apple struggled like 1-2 years to get Copy & Paste on their OS.

  • @solomidplz ur right, windows phone 7 was only getting a bad rap in the beginning because of that

  • @solomidplz didn't apple only have a 1 button mouse? LOL how lame is that?

  • That feature does not match the rest of the os. It looks bad

  • Why didn't they just put this in when it first came out?

  • @KidBajan

The fact that it wasn't there a month ago? Really, in the grand scheme of things, what difference does it make?

  • People and trolls: Please read into thing properly before commenting. This is a beta build for special developer devices of WP7, and its obviously just a preview. Its not like when Apple release a build for developers, its flawless.

Stop jumping to conclusions on something thats still in development. (Please; watch earlier videos of WP7 from Feb. 10 and compare them to the launch phones and the final build. Its night and day and it shows what effort was put into the OS.)

  • what are all those mistaps?! do real wp7 devices behave like this, so I need to tap twice or more to actually get the device to recognize it?

  • Wow, copy and paste! It's a revolution!

  • Lol. Copy and paste.

  • whats wrong with his phone, are windows phone 7 developer devices less responsive than retail phones?

  • seems like they need to improve so far based on this video, i have a feeling alot of people are going to copy and paste things they didn't want by accident

  • It's not going to be as choppy as this though.

  • that looked fiddly..

  • Looks great, although whomever was doing the demo wasn't very good at it. =P

  • Windows Phone kicks iPhone and Android!

  • That didnt look easy at all..

  • @5oupFTW Just as easy as any copy and paste I've ever used. The only better experience you might get is if they added a functionality so that you could use a WiFi/Bluetooth keyboard and the "Ctrl+" functions.

What, were you expecting the copy to automatically detect what you're thinking and do it itself?

If you think you'd know how it would be 'easier', why don't you make a nice presentation and send it to: "windowsteamblog(dot)com/p/feedback(dot)aspx" ?

  • @halfingr The ability to zoom in to find the points at each end is the key. This method looks too small and fiddly.

  • @5oupFTW It looks fine; you forget to look at KEY points in the video description:

"...how copy and paste WILL FUNCTION..."

Will indicates its a future update, which means that this is a demo to show everybody who is impatient and doubtful that it will ever have C/P abilities.

  • sooo... when do we get it?

  • @Jammer5263 January 2011 my friend!!!

  • WP7 FTW!!!! Go MS :)

  • WIN. the way they implemented it is awesome too.

  • looks sort of hard to use because of the small icons

  • he presses so hard people think that ain't a capacitive touchscreen

  • Nice!

  • It isn't so great.

  • Nice! (LOL I can't believe I'm saying "Nice!" to copy and paste.)

  • @SergNBR this is the first update for WP7 which is seeded to devs right now. All rumors point to this being out next month. :-)

  • first!

  • shit

  • Awesome :) but the touch not helping you.

i prefer to upload another video :)

  • first!

  • FIRST :D
