For that small nation as Latvia, we all are very happy when our compatriots with their work achive world recognition and love. It makes proud. Imagine even at repeated MET Opera transmissions despite that it's a video only, people in Riga use to applaud!

Today they finally released the DVD version of this production! and it is SPECTACULAR!!!. Visually it is as good as high def, which I don't have. The singing and acting are as good as it gets. All the principals are in their prime and the acting is a model for future singers to learn from.

It was one of the best buys possible for this opera. Did anyone else got it?

can't compare for they are SO different...

I think Didonato and Bartoli sing the same coloratura way (so you can compare them)

Elina's voice is very special and gives a different emotion, much more discreet, but so touching in my opinion!

I saw the live transmission of this magical performance in the concert hall in my country, Croatia, and I ADORED it! Garanca is OUT OF THIS WORLD! And the whole performance was something UNFORGETTABLE: the entire cast, costumes, scenery, acting, EVERYTHING!

Thank you for putting this wonderful 'end of the last act' on YouTube! I indeed saw the same opera you did and you can tell from my perspective in my clip that my seat cost about $40. Yours, I think, was more like $500. Hope you enjoyed the opera thoroughly -- as we did. I thought Garanca was outstanding! (As your clip shows!)
