I have a question! My friend recently fired a laser pointer through an opaque crystal (it was quite thick so our eyes would be damaged). We noticed something odd. The edge of the laser looked like it was "swimming" with particles (like thousands of tiny pulsating dots on the crystal). Is this laser diffraction? If not, what is the name of this?
Does anybody happen to know the thickest an object can be before it stops experiencing a distinct diffraction pattern when one of these green lasers shines light on it?
@dragonlasers I want to know this too. Can LEDs be strong and focused enough to create interesting effects with gratings? I would also like to know whether two reflexion gratings can be combined to create effects the same way transmission gratings can be combined to create effects? Thanks a lot.
Are there plans to manufacture ones that fit onto the ends of lasers? i.e. attach it on the front of a Spartan or Hulk. It would be fantastic if we had something to simply clip on front.
It is an interesting idea to have it clipped to the front of a laser. You'll find though that having them as a plain square piece of glass is more convenient and more versatile for different uses.
These diffraction gratings as they are can be used with multiwatt lasers, light shows and experiments.
If you want to use it with a laser outside, it is easy enough to hold the laser with one hand and the grating with the other. This lets you use different angles.
nice.. and btw, Australia has made lasers illegal now and stopped importing them, and anyone found with 1 can be put up to 10 years jail! thats a load of bull.. i guess im stuck with my 5mw red laser.. lol
A decision has been made by the NSW government to ban them but so far no actual legislation has been put into place. Until new laws have been enacted and gazetted, laser pointers will still be legal!

hello, what is the highest power for these diffractions glass? are material option for high power laser pointers?
antsettler 11 months ago
@antsettler The diffraction gratings can handle at least several watt of power with out any problems.

so i can use a regular laser i boght anywere or i have to get one of yours
aleksey2323 3 years ago
You can use our diffraction gratings on any laser. Laser pointers, laser modules, they will all work with these diffraction gratings.

@dragonlasers
How about an LED. If I want a cool optical effect, can I use an LED?

I need a flat line generating lens for my laser do you sell them or know where to get one?
vanishu 3 years ago
Dragonlasers does not sell them and I don't know any one who does.
Try asking around at laser pointer forum.

You buy the glass slides/gratings from Dragonlasers at w w w . dragonlasers . com

Very pretty effects combining the colours :)
