  • Correct me if I'm wrong but that looked more like a toe loop to me...

  • @KyleeDeLuca im not the best at this but usually the jumps differentiate in the entry, in this she does a triple turn to turn around, in the toe loop she actually switches feet and does a circular motion to turn around

  • thats a single axel!!!!!!

  • Umm maybe i saw it wrong but that looked like either a toe loop or a lutz

  • i wish they would show you different angles of the jump a few times and then in slow motion, i'd rather see how its done and understand than her talking about it and me not understanding

  • her arms going into that were strange....it didn't look like a very natrual single Flip. they should have used someone with more experience to explain and demonstrate this jump.

  • She swung her arms a little, which made the jump not wait on the edge.

  • The flip jump is my favorite.

  • i was skating 5 years . and i loved Flip the most :)

but she looks like a beginner :L so low , and slow ;P

maybe shes done that for other beginner to that look clear .

but i dont really like the video .

  • wait, it's supposed to be a 3 turn? aww, I practice it wrong, i always do the mohawk :( eh, even though im fs1 (level 6) im still not comfortable with 3 turns.

  • @Artistically025Sofia Mohawks are a perfectly acceptable entry to flips. A lot of people start their double flips and all of a sudden have to switch from a three turn to a mohawk on their singles to stop themselves from rotating excessively. You probably should get comfortable with three-turns though.

  • This was a nice, controlled jump, but here are a few pointers so you can improve the video quality:

    1. Stretch your leg back more

    2. Jump higher, just a little so you can tell its a jump

    3. Your second edge, after the mohawk or 3 turn, needs to be LONGER than the first, when you skated into the mohawk or 3 turn, so it doesn't look like a cheap spin.

    4. Don't swing your leg around so much in the three turn :) (i had this problem)

    5. Take your time! You almost overrotated. Land nice.

  • I love how she sais to "take 2-3 strokes into it" and then proceeds to take a lap before she jumps lol

  • She rushed the whole thing. She needs to take her time and use proper technique.

  • @SkatesNSaddles i agree, she didnt hold the edge and let the edge help her jump, she just pulled in too quickly... she needs to work on timing

  • Stop saying how It's not advanced...I've been skating for 7 years and I'm only doing 3 jumps...I find THAT advanced...

  • Double Flip

  • The video basically shows you what a flip is but shouldn't be use for instructional purposes. It really is improper technique and she looks like a beginner. The monkeyseevideos with Michael Weiss are much better if your looking for tips.

  • she did a lutz the exact same way

  • that was not good, you have to streach your leg out much more, and you hardley got off the ice

  • Well lets just say its called a half flip ......

    (morons)advanced my ass

  • Well lets just say its called a half flip ......

    (morons)

  • That didn't help at all... This video sucks.

  • @100Percent2Nothing I'm not one of the people bragging, even though I can perform my flip. To be honest, I like to watch another skater do the jump since I can only speculate how I look when I perform my flip. I'm 15 and started when I was 12, so I'm just working on my axel.

The lutz is fairly hard but when you think about it, it's really only a flip starting backwards. I don't know if you've done your flip yet or not but that's really what it is.

I hope you get your lutz soon. ^-^

  • @Searcher1315 your working on you axel? i admire you :D i have been skating since i was 5 and im now 13 and i just reacently re-landed my axel clean. but thats so kool that your already on your axel in 3-4 years! im just wondering but you have proably been on the freestyle ice the whole time right? :3

  • @vampirediaries137 I'm not sure what you mean by 'freestyle ice' I mean, I've performed a few of the Dances like the Dutch Waltz, Baby Blues, Kanasta, European etc and I've done my skills like Circles and threes-mohawks. But I've been mostly working on freestyle because that's my best area, I really love my jumps they're my favourite part of skating. ^-^

  • that was a horrible example of a flip jump, the arms position is just ridiculous, there's no height at all, and she just dont know what knee bend means!, if you're gonna post an instructional video please do it the right way.

  • @LolyaZatsune828 A lutz is the same thing as a flip. You just start out backwards on a lutz.

  • @CanadianHickChick A flip takes off from an inside edge, whereas a lutz takes off from an outside edge

  • @TheSY81 That's what I meant.. But thank you! :-P

  • although i am also trying hard to perfect my own flip, i don't think that flip is any better than mine ==

  • @CYSHUM2009 well yeah they do suck ass @ it

  • @LolyaZatsune828 because they are taken off form the some foot (left ft gliding and right ft picking). but a lutz is taken off on an outside edge of the skating ft and a flip is taken off on an inside edge. if you don't know wt that means, it means the skater is leaning on the opposite side when he/she is doing a lutz.

  • @100Percent2Nothing this video isnt very good. not too much instruction.

good luck with the lutz! i find it very fun once you get it. the take off looks super cool, i think hahahaaa. well gl!! :))

  • @XDIcey - I've been doing flips (and doubles) for years. I agree, too far away from camera. Not the best flip either. Why are her arms so down low on her landing position? She doesn't really "instruct" so much as just show the jump. For a flip, you gotta have a fairly straight-line 3-turn, hold the back edge for a sec before picking. Pop straight up (don't "try" for rotation, you'll open your left hip too much). Release left shoulder a tad as u pick, which is just enuf to get u around.

  • Well I think her teaching technique could use improvement,, good jump though

  • I dont really like this video because the girl is so far away and on her flip it goes to fast in slow motiton would of been better for like if ur just learning how to do it like me.

  • @GosselinsRock123626 Agreed. Asking your coach is a really good idea. But if you're someone like myself who doesn't have a coach and stuff, this is really good and really nice. Gosselins, I'm 15 too and I love the idea of figure skating and I've tried lessons and had to quit cuz of the price. So, this is really nice. But you're absolutely right. If you have a coach and have a question, you should ask them instead of going to a video. It will help alot more to have someone explain it in person.

  • I don't really think this was very helpful at all. The worst problem is she is so far away from the camera you can't really get a good look at her take off position.

  • Please tell me, did she do it right? Wasn't she supposed to land on the opposite foot, doing the flip jump?

  • Yes, she did do it correctly. You can also do this jump using a mowhawk instead of a three-turn. I find it easier that way.

  • Thanks!

  • I can do a Triple flip Double toe double loop combe.

  • put it on youtube and people wont think your a wanna be online show off

  • @MrJustinsVideos

Fine whatevs Ill put it up

  • @MrJustinsVideos

and Im in juniors and Shirley Hughes/Priscilla hill are my coaches. Theyre 2 f the best coaches in the nation!

  • uh huh

  • all of you guys who posted negative stuff and idiots. If you've only been skating for 2 months than shut your mouth because you don't know shit

  • @Rachelroxful

I've been skating for 2 years and Ive been to junior nationals already. and i learned how to do a flip-loop combo in my first week of figure skating lessons. You cant tell people they dont know stuff because they could.

  • @Rachelroxful sexist!

  • wow.....i can do a better flip than that and i've been skating for six months.

  • do you HAVE to wrap your leg around?

  • terrible videos

  • the lady at the begginign of these videos is very very annoying

  • Wow, so many comments are judgmental. This skater is trying to keep the jumps as simple as is possible, so that the rest of us who are trying to learn the pre/post edges of each jump and the technical differences between jumps is understandable. If she was in competition, then yes, we would expect her to be leaping tall bldgs and doing quads! Chillllllll!!

  • I have been skating for about 2 years and to me that jump sucked. she did not jump that high at all

  • ci sono delle cose sbagliate non solo nella misera spiegazione...ma anche e soprattutto nella esecuzione del salto...no!

  • agreed

  • "when you come out you hold, hold, hold" idk y but i thhink shes funny hahahha

  • I enter from a 3 turn, but that's because I'm not very advanced yet. I've only just started skating again after a 2 year gap so I can't even do a mohawk any more! lol :P

  • You can do either three turn or mohawk, it is whatever's easiest for you. I do 3 turn, because mohawks hate me and i'm better jumping from 3 turns xx

  • Its to farst a flip its not så farst

  • her jump is raelly bad she had a nice entrance but she didnt jump that high at all

  • This place has good instructors.

  • ahahaha lol tehehehe

  • I enter from a mohawk, but I know a few people that enter from a 3-turn...Very good flip!

  • on the flip, you need to go through the jump other than just spin around. the landing must be stretched out more on the leg and arms.

  • gosh, I can never do the flip jump. =p

the flip is my worst jump ever...

    *sigh*

  • worst vid ever i can do btr than that seriously u need to get it right before u post it idiot

  • they are trying. we would really like it if you people stop posting comments like this. if you don't like the vids, don't watch them!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This girl needs height

  • AND you dont bend your pick leg!!

  • stop trying to think you no it all well you dont...you probly havent even did ice skateing so shut the fuck up miss pirss fucker

  • @VictoriaSkate00

That's a little racist, don't you think? Please don't be so judgemental. "White Trash Girl" is an offensive term that degrades both you and the person you are insulting. Courtesy is valued everywhere, even on Youtube.

  • no pick at all!

and when she was demonstrating it she used her wrong foot when she said make sure to pick in. she picked her left foot while on her right. its the other way around. that would have been a toe loop. this is pathetic.

  • Too slow n too low i got my flip today n i can do btr than that mine is much higher and faster

  • sure it iss shut the fuck up u dont no how to do just tell us the truth

  • hey mellobabiii08 mayb i didnt word it right wen i sed i got it that day i meant i got it perfect idiot get ya facts straight before u talk idiot n y wood i lie?, to get ppl impressed? uhhh no but u wood stop dissin ppl no1 cares wat u think n if ur gunna reply n say f me then do it lik i care

  • Thank you!!

my flip jump is really horrible right now!! =P

my coach says I need lots of practice on it.

  • this is my favorite jump (: the thing that is the hardest is making sure your hands pull in as the same time u take off / toepick / inice

  • I can do better than that and on a sequenze of 5, you gotta work on your landing position and on the height..

Oh, and by the way, I'm Sasha Cohen

  • yeah rite. faker.

  • Comment removed

  • Toooooo fast!

slow it down, and get a little height.

  • its not high enough cuz ur doing it wrong!! your supposed to dig your toe as far back as possible. then you jump while GOING BACK until u reach ur foot, and the rest of the jump is a rotation.

  • thats way rushed...but watev...

  • Hoooooooo please !!!!!!!!!!!!where is the rithm... where is the higth... those edges... keep them longer and bend you kneeses and he toe is supposed to carry the body waigth from the skateing foot is not an optional...........

  • omg so rushed! so little! and HORRIBLE landing position!

  • omfg horrible

  • I've got a coach, who is always pestering me to get more "air" in my jumps. If she had seen this lady's jump she would have freaked

    "WHAT WAS THAT?!?!"

"WHERE IS YOUR HEIGHT... YOUR AIR?"

"LENGTHEN YOUR LEGS, BEND YOUR KNEES!"

    "AGAIN, DO IT AGAIN"

    lol

  • yea ikr same!!

  • Haha pretty much the same as me....

    lol

  • LOL I Just landed it the correct way except 2rot , double, and the first time i attempted it i had more air then this!

  • Beautiful!

  • i love ice skating b cous it is really fun =]

  • that is a flip

a toe loop picks with the left toe out of a right inside three

  • isnt that a toe loop?

  • omg i can only make it 3/4 of the way around

  • u can do it (: , just believe in urself! , i landed mine with no coachs , no one there to cheer me on , my parents like to see me having fun in skating , but neither of them are a fan of it. my dads more hockey , so i have no support but myself & i landed it cause i believed in myself

  • dood.

she like barely got any air.

    -_-

  • This is like a waltz except with a rotation , LOL

  • I really LOVE this jump! It is my absolute favorite of the six jumps. When I was learning this jump for myself, I discovered that as I reached back to pick the ice I had to make sure that my shoulders and hips were squared off (evenly facing forward) before popping up into the jump and that really seemed to help me. To this day I can tell if the jump is going to work by my position just before I jump. If I'm "squared off" it is going to work.

  • this vid is kinda bleh. no offense.

  • Yeah, just because someone is *able* to do something doesn't mean that he or she is qualified or really capable of teaching it. . . . Finding a good ice skating instructor isn't easy. In my experience, I've had much better instruction at clubs in Canada - as opposed to clubs in the US. There seemed to be a higher standard up there. At one in the States even *I* was recruited as an instructor! Now that's scrapping the bottom of the barrel! I could do this particular jump, but stuck with beginners

  • wow you are a good skater too bad you guys are in florida because i am in illinois

Great video it taught me alot!

  • bleh, they suck...no height.

  • wow- crossovers not very good

  • A Lutz isn't a full rotation u jump off ur toe pick and do half a rotation I learned at lessons yesterday

  • Flip is a back left INSIDE edge. Lutz is back left OUTSIDE edge.

  • so what do you take off by, kinda confuse, do u jump off with the toe pick?!? or the backedge, or both?!? plz help!!

  • U take off of the toe. But you are on a left backwards inside edge. You pick in with your right toe and push off of it.

  • A lutz isnt a full rotation

  • the lutz you take off on a back left outside edge

  • whats the diff between a lutz and a flip?

  • YEA!!! I landed my loop at my competitoion

!!!! and guess wha I GOT FIRST!!! yea!!! =) that was a helpful video thnx bye =)

  • i've landed my first flips en loops today and i'm sooo happy!!!

  • omg i love doing flips! but like doing loops better!

im exited ive got a comp next weekend!

    i hope i win

  • i can do a half flip but hwo do u go from a half to a full

  • Before doing a full flip you probably want to learn your loop. If you have learned your loop then its just like a flip but sorta spin into it? I don't know how to really describe it. I just know how to do it :)

  • i kno a toe loop

  • thats the same problem i have i started leaning flips yesterday and i keep putting my toe pick in to the ice halfway around try doing the jump bare foot on the groung and try to get all the way around. :-)

  • do you land on the same foot you toepicked?

  • yep.

  • Its called checking and yup! Its like a loop. Just think of a loop while doing it.

  • yeah

  • i love doing flips!!

but i think my fav is either loop or axel

    :]

  • I think the difference between a flip jump and a toe loop (or a cherry flip) is the 3 turn that goes into it, she's doing and outside 3turn, but a toe loop uses an inside 3 turn.

  • omg! charlene used to be my coach, and she NEVER coached us that well!!!! besides, she's COMPLETELY doing it wrong, she's HARDLY junping off the ice!

  • What's the difference between a flip jump and toe loop?

  • That is a good question. I have no idea.

  • Hi. The flip starts on an inside edge, then lands on the opposite foot, on an outside edge. The toe loop launches off from an outside edge and lands on the same foot, on an outside edge. Hope that helps :)

  • i think that the differense is in the leg you use to toepic. If you land your jums on your right leg for toeloop you pic with your left leg, and for flip with the right leg. i hope thats right because thats the way i do it :)

  • im almost got it lol i just ned to learn how to land backwards because im so used to landing forward thx to the half flip :) but i stink at jumps spins r my thing lol

  • thank u so much i was having so much trouble with he flip jump

  • And so?

  • she is like reallllly annoying me lol with the flipping of the hair and voice uhhh i wanna hurt her lol geez and her jumpes a bad a choppy!!!!lol

  • I just have to get more height!!! Almost there, almost theereeee....

  • What a great lesson. That really helps me.

    David

  • how is this different to a toe loop?

  • a toe loop is w you do a half routeion on the ice and then jump

  • thats sooooo not true!! toe loop is on the left outside edge and flip takes off on right inside edge. thats the difference. and also if u do half he rotation on the ground they will take off points for it because thats cheating!

  • How on earth is this different from the toe loop? Is it the edge that she takes off on making it different?

  • Yes. A toe loop is taken off from a right inside edge, a flip is taken off from a left outside edge.

  • I think you meant inside edge. Otherwise it'd be a lutz.

  • I can do the jump part, but I just can't land it right!

  • Wow. I'm working on a flip jump but I can't even get the rotation in!

  • same haha!!

  • That was an awesome jump! Could you please do a video like this for a loop jump, lutz and axel?? Thanks! :-)
