If the F-15's had the correct combat load the F-16's would not want to get even close to them. The F-16's radar is weak, the APG-70 of APG-63vi radar on the F-15 is awesome. Match that with some AIM-120's ("coffin nails") or newer versions of the AIM-7 and they would be toast! The F-22 would be another story even the F-15's radar has trouble locking up an f-22. now close in with AIM-9X missles the big motors and vectored thrust maybe a problem with them though. F-15's kick ass!

I know all about what the F-15 avionic are capable of. The F-22 is an awesome aircraft but to expensive, maybe the silent eagle program will augment them? What I did say was the F-16 is no match for the F-15 with AIM-120's and that up close and personel with AIM-9X if the F-15 would have a chance. The 9X is awesome!

In reality, F22 kicks ass anyway, because I am an aerospace engineer just graudated college, I had the opportunities to check out the F22's production line and flight computer analysis lab. Nice video for entertainment. There is information available about the different capabilities of these aircraft (considerably less for the F22) that you might want to get into to apply more appropriate tactics. Having an F16 go vertical against an F15 is suicide unless you're counting on stalling into a j-hook faster than the F15 pilot can react. The one thing that has been positively released on the F22 is that it can beat anything in a turn - no reason to go up or down.
But I'm not sure why it took so long to render though. It seemed like they were very low poly models that could have been able to be rendered in real-time.

not the most realistic thing ever - an F16 taking down an F-15? Not likely. And there's an attack that the F22 can do that the others cant which is to use an EMP to shut down an enemy's plane so it falls out of the sky. However, accuracy aside, I loved the directing and the in-cockpit shots. Never mind visual realism, the kinetics and camerawork were great.

@basterd52 It doesnt have EMP and most of these have double or triple redundant systems protected against electrical interference. If the EMP worked however, you betcha the F16 and F22 would drop like a rock - or more precisely, spin out of control. They are unstable designs meant to be Fly By Wire only.
The F15, however, ironically, since its the opponent here, wouldnt. Its got a manual backup system that doesnt need the flight comp and could glide or fly back to base
That is nonsense, no aircraft currently has an EMP ability :-) And even if they had, it wouldnt be able to take an enemy craft out of the sky - thats not how it works, thats scifi :-)
@phrawgg2 F16 taking down F15 is perfectly possible, just needs a better pilot. The F15 is better on the whole but doesnt obsolete the F16. Now the F22 - that thing dominates. If it didnt own them all in BVR, it would when it supercruised all over their tactical situ, without warning, at will. Real F15 pilots are lucky to see one (radar or otherwise) before they are dead, let alone get a lock. As for F22 shooting down F15 with guns - it would have smacked it down a long time before then.
Not so fast. F-16 outmaneuvers the F-15 in a close-in engagement, like guns or heaters. Eagle will typically win the BVR fight, but that was not the situation here.
@phrawgg2 Well, Almost everything you said was wrong.. A 16 can and has taken out 15's in simulated air combat. It comes down to skill. And as far as a 22 can use EMP? That is just more than likely a misunderstanding on your part. F22's have an internal ECM(electronic counter measure) system, not EMP. Lets take a quick look at your EMP(electromagnetic pulse) theory. EMP would not only completely fuck the 22's Avionics but everything around. So in that case sure you are right sir.

@NozeDive So out of the first couple links I clicked I didn't see anything about a 22 being able to disable an entire A/C's flight control system. Now if you are referring to the fact that all radar systems use radiation then sure you win... I guess. If you are saying that 22's can jam enemy radar/missiles than you are correct. But guess what so can other fighter A/C like the 15/16/A-10's when they have ECM pods loaded. And again I just have to mention 22's have internal ECM systems...
During an Air Force training operation, they sent 5 F-15's against 1 F-22 when it first came out, and due to the raptors stealth technology and the vast electronic upgrades and advantages, the F-22 was able to defeat all experienced F-15 pilots. America will own the sky for at least 50 more years.

Nice, but there are a couple issues. First, the way the F-22 pilot behaves is stupid... you have the pilot abandoning his wingmen for most of the fight. And then he flies in right in front of an F-15. Real smart.
Also, you start with 3 F-15s, 2 F-16s, and an F-22. Two F-15s and 1 F-16 are shot down. Where did the other two go?
If the Raptor was in the fight from the beginning, you'd be left with an F-22 and 2 F-16s. If the F-16s were on the other side too, you'd be left with an F-22. :)
But to add to my previous comment (which maxed out the character count) the animation and rendering is really good. I'd like to see more... perhaps an F-22 vs 6 F-15s. With AIM-120s. Then you'd still have an unfair fight. :D

I been waiting for someone to point that out. yea! it is a common problem for CG artists to come up with storyline problem in the middle of the project. because the technical difficulties. I made all this by my self. so I cheated a little, because I changed my story line near the end. so it was my planning problem. I am making another one now.
@AtlantiXYL Awesome! Any chance of a preview? ;) Also, a tip you might use is using some sort of flight simulator (XPlane on the iPad works well but there are others out there) to make sure all the movements are as close as possible to the aircraft's actual behavior.
I actually tried to do a video like this once before but gave up, so my criticisms are mainly because I'm picky, not because I could do better... because mine wasn't even close. :D
The only thing you want to make sure is that, Do not set up a actual environment. and actually draw a spine and animate the plane. All you have to do is make ur A/C in the origin, and animate their turning, flips...... little flaps ajustments.... and them use after effect to get the sky background. Example, my F16/F22 and 3 F15 formation flight were done like that.
@AtlantiXYL Hmmm... that's actually a really good idea. I was trying to set up the whole thing in Blender before, and it was very difficult to get it to look natural like that. It just came out looking like a plastic model on a wire, because that's essentially what it was.
@SpecialOperations ok, the textureing on my is NOT perfect. I had a hard time doing it as well. I use uvw, flatten them and put them into photoshop. and MUST use a tablet board to paint and add detail.
@AtlantiXYL Oh...ok. I only got Gimp...looks like he UVW will have to be flat anyways...but my worst doubt is about the heat haze and air distortion effects...I never get to get good results while trying it...
@SpecialOperations have you heard about compositing? heat haze are done in after effect. alots of the stuff are done in after effect. not in 3d. so i am telling you to expand your knowledge with a 2d program as well

@navettiere hate to say this, you have to start from the beginning. watch a lot of movies and learn from it. if it does not look right , then it is not a good animation. tutorial can be found or buy anywhere, digital tutor, gnomon workshop, lynda, autodesk, youtube,...... have alots of reference. before you start, I would recommend you start with autodesk maya as well. maya is a better animation software than MAx

I did let the f15 shoot down F16, this animation took me 1 year of planning. when I eat, drive, sleep, and watch movie, I think about it until it is done last may 2009. did you catch the last moment, f22 used guns to shoot F15 down? that was the part I messed up, bullet is not too stand out.
if my project was a four man team, it will be better. I was the only one doing all this. took me 1 year of planning, and 6 month making. 5 hours a day.
@MiG359NTF using Isreali tactics against average F-15 pilots while India put up the best of the best. Besides, it was a political defeat the US needed to justify the F/22.
@MiG359NTF Yep in an exercise. Never in real combat. Luckily they don't count. Honestly I really think Su27-37s would eat f-15s for lunch with properly trained pilots. I think thats where most of f15s victories really are won. In the cockpit not really with the plane. Its awesome but there are more maneuverable and capable aircraft out there. Just never had to fight them with other awesome pilots.
The Raptor's the new air dominance fighter now. If you made it Raptor against all in your video, I wouldn't be surprised if the Raptor killed everyone. Since the deployment of the F-22 Raptor, every other fighter jet out there is obsolete to it.
Dude, the Pak-Fa has already been revealed, just search it up.
And btw, if my memory is correct, the Russians that had to do with the Pak-Fa have said themselves that it will not be as advanced as in the Raptor in various areas.
@MeGoSwearAtYou It got beat by the eurofighter in exercises last summer. Doesn't count but anything can be beat with good tactics. Plus we don't really have enough of them. I don't understand why we don't build a ton of FA18s and F16s to replace what we have. They are very capable fighters, cheaper to build and in another 10-15 yrs nothing will be manned anyway. Make a few mods to those 2 fighters like thrust vectoring and upgrade the onboard computer systems and you have 2 very bad ass machines
Cool animation, but in RL, the F-15E is an absolute pig, compared to the much lighter F-15C and even lighter F-15A. Mudhen drivers do not like to mix it up if it looks like itll be more than one circle.

not the most realistic thing ever - an F16 taking down an F-15? Not likely. And there's an attack that the F22 can do that the others cant which is to use an EMP to shut down an enemy's plane so it falls out of the sky. However, accuracy aside, I loved the directing and the in-cockpit shots. Never mind visual realism, the kinetics and camerawork were great.

@basterd52 It doesnt have EMP and most of these have double or triple redundant systems protected against electrical interference. If the EMP worked however, you betcha the F16 and F22 would drop like a rock - or more precisely, spin out of control. They are unstable designs meant to be Fly By Wire only.
The F15, however, ironically, since its the opponent here, wouldnt. Its got a manual backup system that doesnt need the flight comp and could glide or fly back to base

@phrawgg2 F16 taking down F15 is perfectly possible, just needs a better pilot. The F15 is better on the whole but doesnt obsolete the F16. Now the F22 - that thing dominates. If it didnt own them all in BVR, it would when it supercruised all over their tactical situ, without warning, at will. Real F15 pilots are lucky to see one (radar or otherwise) before they are dead, let alone get a lock. As for F22 shooting down F15 with guns - it would have smacked it down a long time before then.

Not so fast. F-16 outmaneuvers the F-15 in a close-in engagement, like guns or heaters. Eagle will typically win the BVR fight, but that was not the situation here.

@phrawgg2 Well, Almost everything you said was wrong.. A 16 can and has taken out 15's in simulated air combat. It comes down to skill. And as far as a 22 can use EMP? That is just more than likely a misunderstanding on your part. F22's have an internal ECM(electronic counter measure) system, not EMP. Lets take a quick look at your EMP(electromagnetic pulse) theory. EMP would not only completely fuck the 22's Avionics but everything around. So in that case sure you are right sir.

@NozeDive So out of the first couple links I clicked I didn't see anything about a 22 being able to disable an entire A/C's flight control system. Now if you are referring to the fact that all radar systems use radiation then sure you win... I guess. If you are saying that 22's can jam enemy radar/missiles than you are correct. But guess what so can other fighter A/C like the 15/16/A-10's when they have ECM pods loaded. And again I just have to mention 22's have internal ECM systems...

During an Air Force training operation, they sent 5 F-15's against 1 F-22 when it first came out, and due to the raptors stealth technology and the vast electronic upgrades and advantages, the F-22 was able to defeat all experienced F-15 pilots. America will own the sky for at least 50 more years.

Nice, but there are a couple issues. First, the way the F-22 pilot behaves is stupid... you have the pilot abandoning his wingmen for most of the fight. And then he flies in right in front of an F-15. Real smart.
Also, you start with 3 F-15s, 2 F-16s, and an F-22. Two F-15s and 1 F-16 are shot down. Where did the other two go?
If the Raptor was in the fight from the beginning, you'd be left with an F-22 and 2 F-16s. If the F-16s were on the other side too, you'd be left with an F-22. :)

I been waiting for someone to point that out. yea! it is a common problem for CG artists to come up with storyline problem in the middle of the project. because the technical difficulties. I made all this by my self. so I cheated a little, because I changed my story line near the end. so it was my planning problem. I am making another one now.

@AtlantiXYL Awesome! Any chance of a preview? ;) Also, a tip you might use is using some sort of flight simulator (XPlane on the iPad works well but there are others out there) to make sure all the movements are as close as possible to the aircraft's actual behavior.
I actually tried to do a video like this once before but gave up, so my criticisms are mainly because I'm picky, not because I could do better... because mine wasn't even close. :D

The only thing you want to make sure is that, Do not set up a actual environment. and actually draw a spine and animate the plane. All you have to do is make ur A/C in the origin, and animate their turning, flips...... little flaps ajustments.... and them use after effect to get the sky background. Example, my F16/F22 and 3 F15 formation flight were done like that.

@AtlantiXYL Hmmm... that's actually a really good idea. I was trying to set up the whole thing in Blender before, and it was very difficult to get it to look natural like that. It just came out looking like a plastic model on a wire, because that's essentially what it was.

Atlanti, I need to know a couple of things of you:
I need some help on texturing. I have 3 variants of F-15 aircrafts modelled here and I need to texture them. UVW unwrap kills me. Any tips?
And that engine heat haze...how is it done?

@SpecialOperations ok, the textureing on my is NOT perfect. I had a hard time doing it as well. I use uvw, flatten them and put them into photoshop. and MUST use a tablet board to paint and add detail.

@navettiere hate to say this, you have to start from the beginning. watch a lot of movies and learn from it. if it does not look right , then it is not a good animation. tutorial can be found or buy anywhere, digital tutor, gnomon workshop, lynda, autodesk, youtube,...... have alots of reference. before you start, I would recommend you start with autodesk maya as well. maya is a better animation software than MAx

I did let the f15 shoot down F16, this animation took me 1 year of planning. when I eat, drive, sleep, and watch movie, I think about it until it is done last may 2009. did you catch the last moment, f22 used guns to shoot F15 down? that was the part I messed up, bullet is not too stand out.

@MiG359NTF Yep in an exercise. Never in real combat. Luckily they don't count. Honestly I really think Su27-37s would eat f-15s for lunch with properly trained pilots. I think thats where most of f15s victories really are won. In the cockpit not really with the plane. Its awesome but there are more maneuverable and capable aircraft out there. Just never had to fight them with other awesome pilots.

The Raptor's the new air dominance fighter now. If you made it Raptor against all in your video, I wouldn't be surprised if the Raptor killed everyone. Since the deployment of the F-22 Raptor, every other fighter jet out there is obsolete to it.

And btw, if my memory is correct, the Russians that had to do with the Pak-Fa have said themselves that it will not be as advanced as in the Raptor in various areas.

@MeGoSwearAtYou It got beat by the eurofighter in exercises last summer. Doesn't count but anything can be beat with good tactics. Plus we don't really have enough of them. I don't understand why we don't build a ton of FA18s and F16s to replace what we have. They are very capable fighters, cheaper to build and in another 10-15 yrs nothing will be manned anyway. Make a few mods to those 2 fighters like thrust vectoring and upgrade the onboard computer systems and you have 2 very bad ass machines

Cool animation, but in RL, the F-15E is an absolute pig, compared to the much lighter F-15C and even lighter F-15A. Mudhen drivers do not like to mix it up if it looks like itll be more than one circle.
