The brain is a really simple 555 timer chip and a DPDT relay. You can find a great tutorial on the circuit at Make magazine web site under instructables for the robot mouse (literally built in an old computer mouse body). It's easy to build and will power motors without an H bridge. thanks for the comment...Charles

The idea of beam is for it to be "biological" in that it uses anolog circuitry, no cpu or processor, no programming.
