self defense is a natural right, guns are tools in my eyes and at the last resort a tool to protect myself, family and other good people around me threatened by wild life or a violent criminal
I do find that normally the people whining about banning guns or stricter gun control know nothing about guns, the laws or anything of that nature when it comes to firearms. It's generally like that 9 times out of 10. They just see on the news that someone gets shot and instantly starts drawing conclusions. We have been killing each other before guns were ever even thought of. Take them away and we'll STILL find ways to kill each other. Fortunately im in America ^_^
@LafreniereJ Our pets are treated as people (ppl are registered) and our vehicles are large and mostly in plain view night and day as are our houses. So Tell me what piece of private property is registered? Tell me one thing that is in your home that others know about without you telling them. Nothing, no drug paraphanilia which you can buy papers, bongs etc at local shops, we dont register jewlery, gold, alchohol that hit my friend driving at 80km/h in a 40, or the dildos you shuv up your ass.
Most politicians have about as much experience with guns as I do with children. Which is to say, none.
Do you want me to make laws for schools and day care? Its the exact same fucking thing. Have people who ACTUALLY know what the HELL they are banning and unbanning.
@dobbsiancant If Quebec helps pay for private information on who is or who is not transgendered does that make it Quebec's information or the private information of Quebec's transgendered? Just an example. Once could use any race, religion, or creed. This is private information on hunters and sport shooters, a culture, a group, gathered against their will and belonging to them. Who paid for it? Irrelevant.
@CanadianReich that is such a specious argument that i would be embarrassed to even present it.but just to address it:yeah.it's quebec's information.why did they pay to collect it?that's not to say that they would have the transgendered register with the state.nor do they have the right to publish it in the possum nova scotia post-gazette.now back to the real world.we are not talking about registering hats or teaspoons.guns are lethal, jackass.they are used by people to kill people.
@dobbsiancant . Im trying to extrapolate your points. 1) Quebec citizen's tax payers dollars paid for the LGR therefore you have the right to this information. 2) Guns are evil and kill people therefore the rights to privacy of the individual are not as important as the safety of the public in general. Am I correct? I can not reply to you until I understand what your points are. If I am correct, say so, if incorrect, specify. Be clear and concise.
@CanadianReich 1) Federal tax dollars were used not provincial, right? If the country does something or buys something does that make it property of Quebec citizens- even if it violates the rights if individuals, privacy, safety? Yeah- safety. The LGR endangers the lives of good citizens both cop and non cop (false sense of security and criminal shopping list, respectively).
@CanadianReich 2) people with the intent to kill are dangerous. To imply law abiding citizens are a threat to the public safety of Canadians is to imply that we have criminal intent, all of us, as one stereotyped group. IMO this is discrimination, slander, and stereotyping. Persons who make such claims, even MPs, should be held accountable. A firearm not touched by a human is harmless. A dangerous human with any item- hammer, gasoline, car, gun- is a threat to public safety.
@MrKilroi with our federal income tax dollars.we pay them too.and i a am not going to comment further as i fear i am surrounded by you gun-toting idiots who hate the police when it suits you.if one of the major faults of the gun registry was that it cost too much and yet you want to just throw that money away.that makes sense.
@dobbsiancant Dob, you will not comment further as you know darn well after you make a clear statement of your beliefs they wont hold water. Thee registry costs have been used by your side both ways- it doesn't cost much so KEEP it, it costs TOO much so keep it or you've wasted all that $. Either way you are the one casting insults.
@dobbsiancant I believe the term is called cutting your losses. Sometimes you have to let things go because their dragging you down. Then you try something that works. If the LGR did anything right it was to show us what doesnt work. Dr. John Lott starts alot of his talks with the question " Name one country that has seen benefit from gun-control". Got any?
#2HOW is getting rid of a Long gun registry in ANYWAY effecting someone's ability to self defend?
#3 if you want to self defend you will own a Pistol. Which is Restricted. Which means you STILL need to Register that type of weapon. NO ONE uses a rifle for "self Defence"
#4 You're in Canada... Haha WHO are you defending yourself from... I dont even lock my door.
@notregme You Can't use restricted firearms for Self-Defense in Canada. Our law reads "Reasonable Force" I doubt in my lifetime I will ever see Canadians able to carry Hand Guns. And I hope this NEVER happens. it's an awful idea. People that have views like that... You can go to the states and live. Nothing is stopping you.
Think of it this way... whats the Gun-murder rate per Capita in the USA vs. Canada.
@LafreniereJ I use to be like you. then id did my home work. the US had about 20 times are murder rate per 10000. they have 10 times are population . now they have around 30000 people murdered per year. 11000-14000 with guns on avreage. sounds bad Eh? BUT! 2.5 million times per year people defend them selfs with guns.one in every 1000s a shooting one in every 8000 is a death . way in favor of the gun.look up Jhon Lott. start there them spred the word.Canada needs to change its laws
Go Canada Go!
Now to restore some sanity in the US by Voting in Ron Paul 2012, he can and will restore the rule of law.

Has every one forgotten you need a FAC or PAL before you can even buy a gun in Canada?
I am sure the Police have access to who does or doesn't, It even tells them what types of guns you probably have!
Registering the gun as well was just $tupid!
