  • the things i had NO idea how to play piano until i started watching your tutorials. i mean, i always knew my way around it, but I'm really starting to understand chord progression and stuff. not to mention, my fingers have gotten A LOT stronger.

thank you soooooooooo freaking much for these tutorials. i love the beatles

  • @WalrusMuffins10797 That's fantastic, WalrusMuffins, I'm really glad the tutorials have been helpful to you. Keep up the good work on the piano!

  • I like your arrangements, piano john. Are you still taking requests?

  • @SteveB822 I do still take requests, although I can't always find time to get them done.

  • Thumbs up, man.

I found it interesting that the song starts off with that C-D-E sequence to bridge into it from Sgt Pepper's, and then ends off with C-D-E for the sustained high note that Ringo sings. The Beatles songs seem to have such a natural shape and symmetry sometimes.

  • @kotek1 You're right, and I sometimes wonder if they consciously tried to do that, or if it just turned out that way because they liked how it sounds. Either way, we get a great composition.

  • BIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLYYYYYYYY SHEARSSSSS!!!!!

  • I LOVE YOU

  • This is amazing i just had trouble since i mean its a very descent tutorial but you show us the chords and well not what to play in between each cord in what order or how to play it. I dont know if you wanted us to observe your fingering but i found just that small part complicated but real nice.

  • @dudelikescheese123 Yes, sometimes it's easier to just show how to move the fingers around than to explain it.

  • i think John Lennon's daughter sang this, it was quite a nice audio clip :D

  • @HowPettyful Did Kyoko sing this one? Not sure if that counts as John Lennon's daughter, but maybe...?

  • Wait... my friend lied >:(

  • @HowPettyful It wasn't John Lennon's daughter. He didn't have one. It was Sean Lennon when he was a young child

  • Cool!! I am really amazed

  • Dude, hats off to you! Not only for your impressive skill, but also for your incredible generosity. • Hey, John, is this song in the key of C or E? I've heard people say both of them, so just curious. (:

  • @Silfarionx3 It's in E, although there are probably some sheet music versions that transpose it into C just to make it easier for people to learn it.

  • @Silfarionx3 the song is is in Fb major lol

  • This looks like a great song to learn. It re-uses a lot of classic Lennon chords, which is handy if you know other beatles songs.

  • i'm pretty sure the beatles wrote it, and he covered it after, but the which one of the beatles, most likely either john or paul

  • Yep

  • No, it's the Beatles! They're the originals anyway.

  • man this is magic..!!

  • i'm just starting out on piano, and you have so many of my favorite songs on here that are really helping me learn. i just want to shoot a whole-hearted thank you your way. you're really helping me.

  • Very nice tutorial as usual. How abotu Happiness is a Warm gun..?

  • I may do that.. The first part of "Warm Gun" is easier to play than the middle and last half, but it's a fun song to play.

  • These tutorials are amazing man. It takes me days to learn sheet music but with you, I'm learning all my facourite songs within a couple of hours. Thanx so much. P.S I'd like to request Good Day Sunshine, it one of my favourite Beatles songs and it's a great song for piano.

  • thanks for this tutorial, is very easy to learn, by the way i ask for the eleanor rigby's tutorial long time ago,

    what happen?

  • Eleanor Rigby should be up eventually.. It's still on the list.

  • w00t! I've been waiting for Eleanor Rigby!

  • The hardest part i have is playing the beat quickly like you. I can play out the chords and sing it slow and it sounds good but i wanna go it fast at one part and am struggling. Oh well great vid!

  • Playing with the rhythm can be difficult, but you should get it after a while.. that should come once you're really familiar with the chords. Glad you liked it!

  • oh and..*ahem* - I've been requesting Real Love since last december, do you think it'll happen next list? I've seen a bunch of other people requesting it.

  • Yes, and actually there were three or four others that I didn't have time to get to as well.. It should be on the next set.. Hoping it won't be another six weeks before I can get them up here!

  • Not only can we learn to play beatles songs through your vids, but as someone a bit more interested in the musical aspect of the beatles myth rather than their personality cult/celebrity, your tutorials are an invaluable insight into their use of chords and melody. Thanks a million!

  • Thanks very much, I was happy to do it. Glad you enjoy the vids!
