I love all Chopin Nocturne, it somehow have some connection with my own spiritual, no words to describe it anymore! I'm just 16 and listening to this!
he's obviously a good pianist. but I don't like his interpretation. he's always a fraction late with the right hand, slightly out-of-sync with the left hand: you can do -you have to do- this "ritardato" to emphasize some moments of the play... but not all the time, so mechanichally! after 3 minutes, I was bored (and I love Chopin, this Notturno in particular, which I played myself for years)
He keeps his hands close to the keys. Doesn't waste any motion. So many pianists flutter their hands and fingers about in the air when they play nocturnes. He achieves a beautiful delicate sound without this.
Yundi Li holds a special place in my heart. I wish to see him perform live one day. You can't doubt that he feels in his heart every note that he plays. What happens with his face and body seems to be purely a side effect of his emotions. Every gesture and expression feels honest; devoid of any form of manipulation or acting. I'd say it's a relatively rare trait. Too often, pianists are clearly putting on an act for the audience...and it unfortunately can get between them and the music.

@guest40mail actually playing the hands a bit out of sync is the 'old' school of playing, it's supposed to sound nicer that way for Chopin

Everything you've always wanted: central heating, food to spare, satin sheets, and Chopin, played by Yundi Li. A slice of heaven, isn't it? Yawn.

not only did he perform this piece so well, but the stage design, lighting and the videography of this footage also blown me away.

He's truly great in playing Chopin. Langlang is just an upstart in advertisements.

Ах, зачем так о Ланг Ланге. А я его люблю.

0 dislikes? I don't believe this! Although I guess people who press dislikes buttons randomly are too ignorant to know Chopin anyway..
