I hate this movie. This and Atlantis. My mom took me to see them because I'm a big Disney fan, but I was soooo bored, I could never enjoy it even when I saw it again as an adult.
@dtbbella have you ever even watched this movie?! THE.BEST.MOVIE.EVER! it's been my favorite movie for years & still is! it could entertain me when i was 6 but my dad still liked it too! it can entertain any age for boys & girls! if you think this is gay then what do you have to say for the newest disney shit out there? you think this is gay? HA! where the hell have you been over the past few years? & what about all of those cheesy princess movies where the main goal of the movie is GET MARRIED.
As a person that grew up in the mid-90s, I must say I miss these movies. When Disney used to make wonderful movies. The ones nowadays (like most of people say down here in the comments) are just crap, such as those sitcom Disney Channel shows (Hannah Montana, Wizards of WP, etc). I've got to admit there are a few that I've really liked but the rest is just worthless. I want that Disney when there were these kind of movies like this one, Mulan, Tarzan or Atlantis: The Lost Empire. WHERE IS IT? ):
I don't get it. WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE HATE THIS FILM!? The most common complaint I've seen is that it combines space ships with old sailing rigs. but what's wrong with that? I think it looks awesome because it's what people usually think when they think of space ships. At least you all like this film, that goes to show that it has a fanbase of sorts and it deserves one
The chemistry that the characters share alone makes this one of my favorite Disney films. I guess the visual style is an acquired taste, but I really liked it.
I still think, even after roughly ten years, that this is by far the single best movie trailer I have ever seen. It's got it all, the setting, the technology, the feel, the basic story, the epic music. What more could anyone want?
@XsammiechanX Well those are the Disney films nowadays. Like I said the crap ones were a few years ago before Disney bought Pixar and got Lasseter in charge. In the dark days of Eisner.
I like your style and your idea, but Disney rarely makes hand animated quality films because this film made $30 million less than it cost in worldwide box office.
@agtwash93 True, but I think that's just because people don't remember how awesome. Back in the day Prince of Egypt made bank. (I'm not sure if it's a disney though :P)
See, this is the kinda stuff that you would gladly pay to watch, the stuff that gives you tingles down your back, that inspires you and makes you thirst for adventure, and all things good in this world! =D
And gave old school animators a job which they did with pride and perfection, cos there's hella too much CGI lately!!
@Redjoker96 you mean like winnie the pooh, tangled, the princess and the frog, and phineas and ferb. sorry dont mean to be rude but i dont agree at all. yeah it had a long time of mediocrity but it can be alot worse! There is Disney Channal bad and then there is friedberg and seltzer bad. See what i mean?
@SpiderandMosquito still i don't like turning to the channel and finding like 6 reality shows on like wizards or waverly place and hannah montana. I miss the good old days with tarzan, mulan, and all the other disney classics that actually inspired children and gave them a life lesson or two. But really what kind of life lesson are kids getting from hannah montana or any of that other crap they show?
@Redjoker96 Trust me I grew up in the 90s, I know what your talking about. It's just i come here for some nostalgia and all i get from the comments are endless fuck yous to hannah montana despite the fact that the show has been over for almost a year now. I never liked the kidscoms (exept for zack and cody alittle) and I agree that this generation is missing out on our stuff. but i still defend it because i think haters on the internet bitching is worse.
@frenchaccount1 The music is an excerpt from John Williams' score for the movie "Far and Away" (Ron Howard). Took me years to figure that out. I was SO relieved when I did.
opening sequence with the moon is the coolest, most magical thing i've ever seen in my life.
I watched this when it came out with my mom and little sister. i was 9. i remember being completely in love with jim hawkins. when i found out he was voiced by JGL i was like, wow...
for a 2002 animation movie, with dinasour compuors this was created and it has quality simliar to items produced today. And the music track is the magicalist thing ive heard in my life.
@CopseGrinder23 The piece in the background is The Land Race from Far and Away which was composed by the legendary John Williams who did the music for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Schindler's List, and many more memorable movies. He even did Home Alone.
@TombMan12 Sorry, PROFIT would not be in the equation. The movie is pure awesome, as was its competition, Titan A.E.
It's just that our culture has declined to the point that we consider Transformers and Sex In The City to be quality entertainment. Buy the DVDs, enjoy them, then go watch some anime and some Doctor Who, because intelligent life is America's most endangered species.
@kalaong Enough with the Americans-are-retards bullshit. I watch anime, loved and am currently watching Titan A.E., loved Treasure Planet and love the old Disney movies as much as I love movies like the Ring, which was originally Japanese, as was the Grudge. It doesn't mean I'm any smarter than someone who doesn't. The old movies were good. The new movies suck. WORLDWIDE, not just America. Not much can rival the old days. Get over it.
@TombMan12 THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! I absolutely love this movie, still watch it with my kids all the time - yeah it would be great if they could make movies like this again!!
omg.... i remember when i first saw this trailer in the previews of mulan(all my disney movies are video casset) and how i was just so blown away by it....
and now its one of my most favorite disney movies! hehe. XD
I remember I used to have a pink blob toy... Then it exploded all over me and my white couch... WOW I feel old. I watched this trailer a bunch before I got the movie!
@ford1go i heard it was called Far and Away by John Williams but I haven't listened to the full track to say for certain but it is on youtube so you can take a listen. I always loved the music in this trailer as a kid and now the internet is making it possible that I can finally listen to it all the time :)
what makes this movie awesome: -storyline -effects -jim is awesome and love the rebel factor -the pink blobs adorable -the song im still here -jims solar surfer -his yell and the music playing when hes on the surfer -his "cmon!" -last few good disney movies released -just watch it :D
I wish I had seen the film before this particular teaser. In point of fact, this preview was the first time in which I came across this particualr John Williams score; renting the DVD of "Far & Away" came years later - and what shock! Hence, the absense of this score from this film garnered an indefinable sense of emptiness. Although I love the film "Treasure Planet," I can honestly say that I wish I had not viewed this trailer first; both incarnations are absolutely stunning.
People this year when the film opens Winnie the Pooh must go to the cinema to see the movie to get a good result with the public. And Walt Disney Animation Studios can continue to make traditional animation
A couple of my friends who have seen this movie say I look exactly like Jim Hawkins. Just watched the trailer. Damn, they're right. I need cargo pants though.

No fucking joke. I watched this trailer so many times as a kid that I've memorized the lines and the music, in fact, I still whistle it even today.
I thought that this was the coolest thing ever.
