@xopaula1993xo Turning him around at this time would drastically reduce his safety. It's 5x safer for a toddler to be rear facing than forward facing. As shown in the video he has a great view. I am buckled up, you would be surprised as to how far you can reach across a short backseat. And I apologize that my son has a spot of ketchup on his collar from being out to dinner. I guess I'm just not that great of a mother since he has one spot on his shirt.
Is your child small for his age? My Grandson is 33 inches 26 lbs and 12 months old. I have a my ride 65. I don't think we will be able to keep him RF as long as we would like...
@ebone2009 Yes. He's very small for his age. You should be able to keep your little one RF for a long time. Remember a child outgrows rear facing when they are over the weight limit of the seat(so 40lbs for the MyRide) or they have less than 1inch of hard plastic shell above their head.
@23423SpringBaby27657 According to his pediatrician, nutritionist, and gastroenterologist he is small for his age. In this video he was 27months, 23lbs, and 33in head to toe. According to the growth charts at this age he was under the 3rd percentile for weight and height.
Thank you!! My son is 14 months, 24 pounds, and 31.5 inches and he is still rear-facing and will until I feel comfortable with switching him. Definitely not until after he is two! We have a RECARO Proride and he loves it. He never complains and can just bends or folds his legs. :) Thanks for keeping your precious son safe!!
He is so cute! Good for you keeping him RF! I'm a tech and my almost 3 year old is still RF, my middle son made it to 2 months short of his 6th birthday RF(his choice) when he maxed out the RF weight for his radian. :)
I live in australia, you cant get a legal car seat that rear faces over 12 kilos here =( and my lo is 16 months and 12 kilos (his was a 9 kilo rear face) =( i wish the government would bring us up to the safest options!
We are looking at getting this exact carseat was wondering if you had to use towels or pool noodles to tilt it and give it the proper angle when he was rearfacing?
@Angelak232 The CALX has a base that makes it recline to the proper angle. I didn't need noodles or a towel for him. The regular CA does not have a base and might need noodles. (sorry this is a bit late, I don't get into my email often.) :)
her leg room is 0% she has to keep her legs bunched up. I have tried in other vehicles besides my bucket seated 2dr coupe 90' ford probe, like a 2011 equinax, 2001 ford f-250 super diesel and a 2001 grand am coupe (tryin to compare the coupes and the seats) and in NONE of these vehicles did she have leg room = [ BUT in she did like being able to see out of the other NONE 2dr coupe vehicles. Any advice for a mom that can't drive anywhere with her 21m old unless shes front facing in her car seat??
@jennbait112190 As for the sun being in her eyes get some sun shades. Not the ones that stick on with suction cups because those can really hurt her if you are in a collision. Get the ones that are stick-ons or are like window clings or window stickers. You just take them and they cling to the window with a little bit of water. Eddie Bauer makes some and Fisher-Price makes some. That's what I do for my son since last Dec. CONT. IN NEXT COMMENT
@jennbait112190 OK #3. :) If you are driving, put her on the passenger side(if you can get a good install there.) because you will be able to pull the passenger seat up further than the driver seat if you need to. It might make it easier to install and get her in/out of the car. Also since the seat won't be pushed against the car seat it might make it easier to sit her seat up higher. For a child her age you don't need to have the full 45 degree recline that a newborn would need. Good luck!
Ty for the upload!! Now My daughter Autumn has the safety first alpha omega convertible carseat. She has been forward facing since 13m at 32" 20lbs, she is now 21months 28lbs 36", I have tried several times to put her rear facing (in 1990 ford probe none the less lol) and she gets HYSTERICAL! I drove around for almost 3 hrs and the hysteria did not stop! the sun was constantly bothering hers eyes she can't see out the windows etc etc, CONTINUED IN NEXT COMMENT.
Respond to this video...The Safety 1st seat is a short seat. That's why she has 0 leg room. I'd pick up the Graco MyRide. The MyRide sits up high and is a deep seat. Giving her more leg room and sitting her up to see out of the window. The MyRide installs very nicely in the F-250. It RF to 40lbs and FF to 65lbs. It's about $150. Part of the problem is also her age. A LOT of kids at that age fuss and throw fits when in the car seat It's relatively normal. CONT IN NEXT COMMENT
Love this video!! He is so adorable! I am so glad I stumbled upon Joel's story, then saw your link! I have been snooping around Sunshine Kids but wondering what car seat this was? It looks really sturdy, especially in case of a side impact accident. Thank you =)
@Wfyb22 This seat is the Safety 1st Complete Air LX(this is the 50lb version) This seat RF to 40lbs and FF to 50lbs. They make a version that FF to 65lbs also. The LX is there just because mine has a base attached to it that helps it recline. It just makes it a little easier to install while RF. You should check it out at Babies R Us. It's a GREAT seat. I love it.
Great video Mom!!! As an advocate of ERF, I hear alot of complaints about the leg room. Your video shows it like it is. Their legs are all over the place!! And they are happy! But above all, much safer
My grandson, Joel, was 18 mos and 33 lbs, when he broke his neck in an accident while in a front facing car seat. His video is also posted on you tube "Front facing or Rear facing?"
My kudo's to you for this video. I think I'll add a link to Joels website if that's okay....
@luv2bfishin Absolutly! You can link Joel's story to any of my car seat videos. Joel's story is a great one to share with the people who think that ERF is just a "fad" or somthing.
Clean his dirty shirt and turn your child around and show him the good view and buckle up lady!
