@xxKaliKushxx It's common to do when you are crossing a river, it's to prevent the weapons to be soaked in water, either from high water level, or if they trip. The AK-47 usually deals with water well, but they used lots of different weapons like the Type 56 and the SKS and loads of other Warsaw pact guns etc. Some of those guns can explode if fired after being soaked in water. If water enters the barrel, huge pressure is built when the bullet is fired, and it can kill the person.
