It's a long way, you're right! but once 'in the groove' it can be a very enjoyable passage. Made the passage back to Wales just recently (June 2011) another long slog but equally enjoyable. Thanks for your comment, 'fair winds', John.

I did this ocean  from Bermuda to Cork in 1992, on a Union 36, a similar design.

Same ship's compass too. I smile.

It is a long way.

very few days were as favourable as this one though.

im just about to buy a Hans 43 in North Carolina and sail her back to new zealand , that price for the fully battened mainsail is pretty good as we have to get a full sail inventory . whats the contact if you dont mind me asking.

Nice boat. I've lived aboard my 38' Hans Christian "Candide" for 12 years now. Have sailed her all over the Bahamas, the Tortugas, the Keys, and Cuba. Haven't crossed an ocean...yet. But I plan to!

I just ordered a new mainsail today. Got a pretty good deal on it from a friend who is a professional sailmaker...$2,600 for a full-batten, 9.5 oz. cloth, cruising sail.
