Many of the protesters went to demonstrate at the regents meeting that was going to put an 81% fee increase on the UC system. When the regents canceled the meeting last minute, the demonstration continued. That is when the regents protest and the Occupy movement joined together. Because both movements are fiscally motivated, they do align in many ways. But I feel like its an oversimplification to say that Occupy thinks going to Cal Berkeley is too expensive. Much more is going on than that.
