so much easier way of doing this. before the panel slides back in, put a portal on it then quickly run back through the tunnelish part and jump off the edge where the button is, creating a portal below yourself to fling to the box on the other side. you have to do it really fast, but it works amazingly,

lol I couldn't beat this part of the map at all when I first tried it. Then I got impatient and decided to skip it altogether. I went to shoot off the camera in that room and used it to block the door, it only lasts for 2-3 secs but enough for me to open a portal on the other side. The rest is easy.

The first time I did this advanced chamber I took out all of them with the camera on the wall by the door, took so long... I would hide down in the little area, shoot a portal by them and another into the wall next to me and throw it out at them. Then I had to jump out grab it and jump back in without falling or getting shot to death. Good times...

Much like Mirrors Edge the "normal" version of the game is quite linear and simple. The true challenge comes into the advanced use of portals and jumps when certain aspects are removed (like the energy gun) or added (like no floor).

Here it becomes a challenge of less portals and faster completion time.

how does nobody know how to kill the turrets? all you have to do is shoot one portal where the ball thingy is going then shoot another portal where the turret is pointing so it knocks the turret off its platform

You don't need to get that fancy. You can just put a portal in the wall above the platform and fall at an angle into another wall-portal.
