  • I think i notice that some pieces in this song served like a inspiration to Aeris Theme and Eyes on Me

  • when i was a kid i would stop to listen to this song, and sometimes i still do. beautiful

  • This should be on top10.

Sorry Yasunora, Sorry all. Nobuo made a masterpiece at her theme and Phantom Forest...

  • I just downloaded the Super Nintendo version roughly a week ago. I've been enjoying this game so far. I just got Ifrit and Shiva.

  • Terra: the ingenuous and very much human female lead of the first half of one of the best games ever made.

Celes: the broken but persevering maiden, her light cutting a path amidst the darkness and despair in the 2nd half of this wonderful game.

Lightning: some chick I wana rape

  • @MasterBayShen Very good point.

  • @wh15p3r Rape is never a good point. The idiot needs to be put in an asylum

  • Celes...The best character has ever got ff

  • So Aerith's theme is a copy of Celes' theme...

  • Don't let anyone tell you that video games have no aesthetic value. This song is proof enough :p

  • I don't know about the saddest video game song, but it's definitely in my top 10, even though Celes didn't die... She still tried to kill herself when you don't save Cid. :(

The fact that such a beautiful love song gets remixed for her death scene is cruelly ironic...

  • Oooo Mariaaa....~~~

  • A beautiful theme...

  • O my hero~

    O my draco~

  • beginning reminds me of a part in super mario world 3

  • My friend actually got pissed at me when Celes jumped off the cliff while trying to commit suicide since, if I recall correctly, the player has the option to choose to jump since he thought it was for real at the time.

  • i thought ....

HOW OR WHAT DID PENCILSHAVINGS DO TO GET THAT MUCH DISLIKES ... then i looked and after i have read his comment i was like WHERES THE DISLIKE???

  • ♥ Celes theme

    heart wrenching

  • Your heart is an easy target for this music.

  • Huh... Celes dislikes it ?

  • @GeonXP89 No... Kefka does.

  • oh yippie! my favorite scene in the game. touching piece of video game instruments.

  • Congratulations for using Yoshitaka Amano art.

  • Send this to aliens and they won't destroy us.

  • The part where she can't take it anymore and jumps off the cliff, and the sadness of this tune is one of the best parts of the story, Heartwrenching even for a game. Luckily she survived, I really thought it was the end for her the first time I played it. Years ago.

  • Kinda not, she did wear armor. But hey, this is way more appropriate than some other stuff I've seen.

  • A great fairy!

  • This may have had a great soundtrack, but I think that FFVII had the best.

  • This song is amazing. It makes you feel ... weird. If you've played this game, this will bring back many memories.

Am I the only one that thinks that Celes IS the main character of Final Fantasy VI ? She should've been the one in the PSP game ... no offense to Terra but ... Celes did so much more.

  • @GebouYeah Celes became the most active in the party, but Terra was very central to the story. The image of a commando woman hanging out with the Onion Knight is actually pretty funny, though. I imagine she'd be like Serah Conner. Hell, it would've been really interesting seeing her play off of Kefka in Dissidia.

  • i played FFVII before FFVI too but i like VI more

    (like them both tought)

  • who composed this?

  • only time a video game that i cried was when cid died and she threw her self off that cliff. oh how i love the anonymity of the internet so i can admit that LOL

  • omfg! i just remembered that! such an epic game... like words can't even describe... definitely my fav main series FF

  • I discover this scene on video, i was so surprised. I didn't knew Cid could die.

When i saw the video, i almost cried...

  • Ok, now I'm convinced. PS3 for Christmas, every FF game for birthday.

  • Damn straight this belongs on the list.

  • Yeah, this song definatly brings back memories.

  • During the opera scene of this game, which uses the same melody, I remember calling my parents to come in and watch because I was so amazed with the newness of it. They weren't impressed. The resulting disappointment ruined my childhood and made me into the cynical bastard I am today.

  • @Arctercon lol dude if you think it's awesome, it's awesome. You don't need other people to tell you what you already know.

  • @Arctercon i have my mom come in to watch supernova on FF7 and she was not impressed, i was dispointed

  • @Arctercon a little temperamental are we?

  • @Arctercon

I heard that's what happened to the Menendez Brothers.

  • @Arctercon LOL, I know exacly what you mean, I remember how I was naive back then. When I finished a game I always went to my father telling him "dad, I finished look how good I am".. and he was like "meh, good for you".

  • @Arctercon Wow, that's too bad. My mom's a musician, so when I called her in for the opera, she was like, "They made this for a video game? But... isn't that a waste of great music? I thought it was supposed to be all beeps and boops. What kind of game needs something so emotional?"

  • @Socran So sad. Videogames like RPGs, mostly, are stories and music in used for ambience. Even movies needs music. A videogame is like a interactive movie, a sort.

  • @Arctercon do you regret?

  • @Arctercon Let's talk about this for a second.

First of all, what you must understand is that noone who is uninterested in something will be amazed by it's progress. Indeed, they must have thought "It doesn't even look realistic, why not go watch a theater". But they are grown in a time where there were no video games. To someone who grew up with them every advancement id important. If only they knew that it was a great step towards virtual reindition of reality with the player in control.

  • @Arctercon I feel your pain, my parents focus too much on other things to actually care about video games and whenever I mention video games they seem to just ignore what I say.

  • Comment removed

  • @milleniumfrisbee indeed, same here. I guess they think i'm pretty stupid and childish to actually care about it

  • @Arctercon Everytime, i know! I showed my dad Aerith's theme without telling him it was from a game.

    Our conversation:

"Now, this is music! Where did you find this son?"

"Well dad, it's from Final Fantasy VII"

"Never heard of the piece, is it the seventh movement?"

"No...it's from a video game! Pretty cool huh?"

"Hmm...well, it's not THAT good. Here, let me..." and it ended before it even began...

    I

  • @rottenwigga I sort of know that.. When I was telling my ex, I loved this kind of soundtrack while let her listen to few music from Nobuo Uematsu, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Keni Ito, Sugiyama etc.. , she liked it a lot, when I finally tell her it's coming from a game. She did her best to make it like it's a music only for otaku..

  • @Arctercon well that way you learn to never bring your parents to something that is your own "lil world", cuz this Final Fantasy was my own, my own adventure... i didnt share it with no one else haha

  • this closely resembles the church scene in midgar. the melody is there

  • you mean the church scene in midgar resembles THIS.

  • Waiting so long for this one to make it on the list.

  • Like this one, but Cyan's theme is probably my favourite.

  • Such a wonderful track. The song really captures Celes' beauty and sadness.

  • Ahhh yes. One of my favorite songs from FF6!! Thanks SupraD!

Has it been 15 years already?? Wow... Still the best RPG I ever played!

  • Nice choice. FF6 is an amazing title with many great songs to go with it.

  • Don't remember the game well(played only at someone's house). but this track is beautiful and makes wish I could play again.

  • I'm playing through this masterpiece again. Oh god, Celes and the Northern Cliffs... the Opera Scene...Celes' constant sacrificing herself for the sake of others...Celes is easily tied with Terra for being not only my favorite character in FFVI but one of my absolute favorites from the FF series.

  • FF6 is easily my favorite of the main FF games. The opera scene is in my top 3 FF moments, and this song gives me goosebumps everytime because it involves the best part of the opera — Celes' aria.

  • Excellent choice. FF6, my favorite FF. Its in my top 5 games.

  • One of my favorite females in FF, about time she got her due. An easy match from my FF VGM playlist. Of course, all of FF6 is epic. ty for this 1. :)

  • Ahh the lovely Celes!

  • FF6 in general had an amazing soundtrack

  • yea the best soundtrack i think. probably because there were so many main characters and each one had their own unique track.

  • Same here. I dare somebody to find a song in the entire soundtrack that sucked. Go ahead, I dare you. You'll find the cure for cancer before you find a bad FF6 song.

  • Johnny C Goode, the bar theme, got pretty repetitive and annoying after about 20 seconds. The Tower of Kefka was pretty bland chanting and organ music.

  • First off, the song you're thinking of doesn't exist. Second, you're still mixing up names. Third, Fanatic's Tower gave off this dark ominous mood that I loved.

  • Oops, song was Johnny C Bad. It's song 12 of 2nd soundtrack disc I think. So I called Fanatic's Tower by the wrong name? It's still a boring piece of music. Don't be a douche.

  • @VGKing final fantasy music can be the cure for cancer. music made my soul live, my childhood live.

  • Is anyone else reminded of the Legend of Zelda Menu select at the beginning.

  • Agreed

  • Was the first thing I thought when I heard the beginning.

Also..this reminds HIGHLY of Aeris theme in FF7 O.o

  • you mean Aeris theme reminds you of THIS.

  • I played FFVII before FFVI sadly. :(

    Sorry my bad.

  • Don't beat yourself up about it, same here.

  • i also did too

  • yeah it reminded me the great fairy theme too at the beginning =)

  • @dunboody Uh no? r u gay?

  • @dunboody no

  • @dunboody Thats exactly what I was thinking its sounds very similar to the fairy theme

  • This song is so soothing it's making me tired after only sleeping for 5 hours. Good night. (z_z)

  • great song

  • I LOVE this song, it is gorgeous....

I always think of the play, and how it plays at the cliff...

    CELES!

  • beautiful ost

  • This song always make me think of Celes jumping off that cliff. You can't fool me, Nintendo localization; I knew it was suicide! The song says it all.

  • SPOILERS!!!!

  • And what else could it be?

  • Haha nice, SupraDarky! I'm actually playing through the game as we speak. =)

  • <3 Celes :3
