I remember this song in 65...............I was in the navy we dock in Bean Town and I was in Boston Common when I first heard it on a hand held radio................went straight to a record store and bought it
man I tell ya hearin that friggin LEAD BASS made the hairs on my arms stand up. none of that wimpy electric bass guitar, a friggin stand up bass. new law...no stand up bass, no doo-wop, no kidding.
ITs a trip how these youngsters cant comprhend the lyrics and only see that its an old song!!! Listen to the words of these old jams trust and beleive you wil find many that discribe your curent, past or hope for the future! These rolas have definition and meaning they hit home in a real way. They not only 4 when your sad or in love! THere 4 the days when you wake up with a big SMILEY on your face and the weather is beautiful and you open all the windows and doors in your house and clean!
WOW...AMAZING...LUV THIS SONG....HOW DID WE GO FROM THIS TO...BEYONCE OR RHIANNA..OR EVEN LADY CACA...UUUGGGHHH...HOW...SOMEONE TELL ME...THEY SUCK..IN FACT..TODAYS MUSIC SUCKS...NO MORE SOUL AT ALL...IM SORRY...BUT I LIKE SOUL MUSIC...IM CHICANO..AND IM NOT TRYING TO SOUND RACIST...CAUSE I AINT..
@XXXXLOWRIDERXXXX honestly I think that most of it has to do with the fact that musicians nowadays don't work with real instruments, instead relying on babyboy's keyboard settings, etc, and generally have lost focus of what touches human hearts. Business formulas and marketing have just taken over in lieu of heart. I think it's that simple, unfortunately. Sad times.
In loving memory of my parents Chuck and Barbara Garrett. They were married 41 years and were deeply in love! This song was the first gift my father gave to my mother while they were courting.....thanks for posting.....
If you knew me in high school, Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe Springs, CA 1976-80, I always had this song and other oldies playing on my radio.
