Everytime I watch this movie over and over again either by myself or with my wife, I always cry at the end bcuz it made me realize that eventhough I lost both of my parents as a young teenager, I always carry their love within me....and my wife and I will carry our love for each other forever while we're still alive on this Earth. this is an immortal scene; the lead actors left us with a heartwarming scene forever. what touches me is that she used to ask him to say the words "i love you" and he would only reply "ditto". now he finally said "i love you" when he's about to leave, kind of late but i say better late than never.she was witty enough (you can see the effort to be brave) to reply "ditto"-- its her turn, and she was happy to hear him say i love you. i think, we should say the 3 words while we are still alive.

When this film "premiered" in 1990, my Mum had just died, & I was only 16 years old. I cried my eyes out when I saw this part, because of the line "the love you have inside, you take it with you". Only NOW 19 years later do I TRULY understand the statement. Patrick, thank you for giving us these moments. You will truly live on. Mum & Dad, glad you were re-united after 18 long years apart. Hopefully my own cancer removal surgery goes well on Oct 6th and I will see you later, rather than sooner.

Thank you. I'm very nervous but it has to be done. I'm lucky in a way, I have cervical cancer, and it hasn't spread beyond the Uterous. Others, like Patrick, aren't as fortunate, they have a type of cancer that is incurable.
