  • alfalfa and mung beans! so tasty <3

  • Today is the first day I'm sprouting alfalfa seeds. I love sprouted mung beans, that's the only thing I have experience in sprouting, but plan to start incorporating more seeds in the rotation of sprouting.

  • @monodentate if it's hot, I'd put them in the fridge, but still rinse them (maybe down to once a day) and keep them drained/aired. Phil and I leave them out and rinse them as we eat them

  • lovely stuff! try humus from sprouted chickpeas :)

  • @balaftuna mmm, yeah, love that!

  • @balaftuna I've only soaked chickpeas, never sprouted them. How long do you sprout them for?

  • @1221tam it has been awhile since the last time I tried it (must do it again, it was delicious!). i think it was 3 days.

  • I had Alfalfa Sprouts for the first time a month ago and they had this strong musty/mildew like taste/smell?! Is that how they should taste? I bought them from a local grocery store. I put them on my salad and that is all I tasted, it took over my salad!

  • @Herbs4Health they shouldn't taste mildewy - if they do, just give them a rinse. If they still smell bad after rinsing, you probably shouldn't eat them... this is why it's so great to make them at home :)

  • Hi, how much seads alfalfa i need to sprouted? Like 1 tb sp, or what? Thanks

  • @7411Queen yeah, 1-2 Tbsp for a 1L mason jar

  • @healthyvegan O, thanks.

  • so if i have frequent stomach aches should i avoid alfalfa too?

and for how long can you keep your sprouts after they're in the stage u can eat them?

  • @ViolaFall nope - unless you have inflammation, alfalfa is fantastic :) they'll keep in the fridge for a few days

  • sprouts are a great idea cuz its sooo very hot in texas not much is doing in the garden. great video!!

  • I love sprouts and sprouting! I use them in my salads, on my veggie burgers and throw a handful into my juicing. Great video Heather! :)

  • Ah, sounds like just what I need for my veggie burgers.

  • when i think of sprouts i think of beans sprouts, are those in the same family or no? and if they aren't what makes these different and how so you integrate into a recipe? Thanks Heather grest vid as always

  • @TelepathicT bean sprouts are from mung beans - little green-colored beans. exact same process for making sprouts - you just soak the mung beans longer because they're larger than alfalfa seeds. @CatherineStaat already mentioned my top 3 uses for sprouts :) although I put them in smoothies instead of juice

  • how funny- yesterday in my search for Nutritional yeast-- I bought some alfala and red clover seeds will sprout today!

  • @cabernetqueen perfect!
