How could anyone like Fort Mac? I mean Fort Crack. There is one tiny crappy mall " peter pond" everything is way over priced everywhere in fort crack. There are just a bunch of drunk and drugged up junkies everywhere and the other half of the people are working in the oil fields and think they are gods and above everyone because they make good money and blow it all on houses that are way over priced. Fort Mac sucks balls and everyone i've ever talked to says the same. Horrible place to live.

@Pantera8920 well, let's see, it's my hometown where I had a great childhood, and neither parent worked in the oilfield so it wasn't like we had ridiculous amounts of money. I played on travel teams for soccer and volleyball, played all sorts of school sports, was involved in many community driven volunteer organizations with other great people. I've never once tried drugs, graduated with honours, got a university degree and have a large group of friends who did the same.

@Pantera8920 You can talk about stereotypes all you want, but drugs, junkies and arrogant rich people can be found anywhere. If you lived up here and took the time to be involved in the community then it is just as good as anywhere else to live. If you come up here sit at home and complain about how shitty it is, then its gonna be a shitty place to live. For every negative someone has to say about it, I can come up with a positive.

I grew up in fort mac and there are only two things i miss.

The money and the northern lights. Other than that, i'm glad i moved.

i will be living there from next week and i cant wait to see the northen lights . also any updates about fort mc marry in winter wil be apreciated ,i mean i am in montreal but everyone tell me in winter there you can get froze bites stayin outside even for 10 minutes .

I don't know what to tell you except take a drive up 63 some clear night away from the lights in town... but this year I've barely seen them at all.. last winter they were amazing

I worked in Fairbanks 3 years ago. The Aurora was the best part of the whole thing. One night it started at sunset and lasted until sunrise. The images of that night will remain between my ears the rest of my life.

No Alberta without Fort Mac? LOL. I just went there for the first time.....When I looked out my hotel window it looked like "night of the living dead". The crackheads looked like zombies stumbling around. IEverytime I went to the store or out for dinner, I had some speed addict asking me for money or a ride somewhere or just staring me down like they were about to attack lol. The worst parts of Calgary don't come close to Fort Mac..... Gutterville.

The place name is "Fort McMurray " which is locacated in the north of Albert Canada,i think the better is Oct. ~ March. and in the good weather to see aurora.:)
