I noticed there are two types of viewers: the 1st one will LOVE the finale because of its emotional impact & on how it might have made you remember why you love this show. @Chilanguioux That is not the reason why. You got it all wrong. It even explained this in the episode Everybody Loves Hugo. Michael said that all the whispers in the Island are the people who can't move on. Michael wasn't in the church because he couldn't move on.

Basically from what i remember the whole side-ways world is basically the "other life" desmond was talking about all that time. I also think that the island is just an ordinary island with the extraordinary gift of having that light, and the survivors were just brought in to protect it.

@playthefield21 Jack's son in my point of view was an ilusion (just like all the thing happened in that split timeline...), and all the people who recovered the memory know that. Just see, locke said that jack did not have a son.
Well, i hope i understood what the ending meant. From reading comments it shows that the people who died were waiting in this purgatory for the others to die so they can all be together and leave to heaven or what ever.
Lost was all about love? All those seasons to show that. After we saw Kate sleep with Sawyer then Jack we kind of got the message.
Ahh, to tell you the truth i've lost my self. MIB could have been the devil and Jacob god, as he gave life to Richard. The place is filled with "magic" which could show it's heaven/hell and does not really exist. That's why it was never found by the search parties when the place crashed.
After saying that i just got an idea in my head that they could have all been dead all along in the island. The light water source could have been implying heaven and hell. When the rock is in, heaven is flowing and when the rock is taken out hell is opening. That being said the MIB could have been hell in heaven and to kill it, hell needed to be opened. Once the "devil" get's killed the "angels" have to close hell and open heaven again for them to be at peace and leave the PURGATORY.

The things the island can do is surreal and the ending doesn't explain how the island does that. Light in the middle of the island? What is that? Love, hate, death? Ok, but how it got there? Maybe these things were explained and i just missed them, but the fact remains that it was surreal.

It seems like the writers kinda made things up as they went along,struggling 2 wrap things up in the finale.It went off in so many different directions,it was impossible 2 create a perfect ending,characters like Charles Widmore suddenly became meaningless 2 the story. Did they all die in the crash,was the island a waiting room 4 heaven/hell,were Jacob & the smoke monster representing God & The Devil? Nothing was explained clearly enough 4 a clear cut ending.
Continued... I would've been happier if the island was a mysterious place without explanation,the flash sideways was life as it would've happened if the plane didn't crash,& that they gained memories of their time on the island in the normal world & became great friends for life.

Not just that but he also said he had some things to do so probably means "Good deeds". When Jack's father opened the door, it was a symbol for "Heaven's gate" hence Ben not worthy yet.

It is only Desmond who realizes what he has to do in order to bring everyone back together and reunite them in a happy fashion (run over john lock, beat up ben etc). Thats why Jack's eyes shut at the end of the show.

He asked MIB if he could have the love of his wife because she is dead (The white girl). Sayyid never said Nadia, they tricked you in believing it was Nadia in the flash sideways but that moment it was only purgatory. You are blind to the LOST themes

@FantasyFan400 the smoke monster sound effects were simply a recordings NYC taxi cabs printing receipts. Remember that when your in NYC and hail a cab... Thats the sound it will make when it prints your receipt. Tats the same sound used for the smoke monster.
I think the series finally is going to be that desmond hume gets everyone on a plane and fly the plane back to the island while the same time the people on the island get on plane fly it into the other plane causing everyone to go back to normal
i have a feeling how this is going to end, Jack will be the new Jacob and Sawyer will be MIB wanting to leave the island..its just gna repeat itself but with these 2

It was badass enough when he turned to MiB and said "John Locke told me to stay." I LOVE that Jack finally believes Locke.

@FantasyFan400 the smoke monster sound effects were simply a recordings NYC taxi cabs printing receipts. Remember that when your in NYC and hail a cab... Thats the sound it will make when it prints your receipt. Tats the same sound used for the smoke monster.

Perhaps Mr Eko....perhaps Locke. My mind would explode if Jack, facing the Smoke Monster, was suddenly saved by the spirits of those who have already died. It was badass enough when he turned to MiB and said "John Locke told me to stay." I LOVE that Jack finally believes Locke.
