@hester23x I haven't gone to MEPS yet, but I have taken the ASVAB. It's very similar to the SATs you take in your junior year of high school. There's 9 test in total but as long as you're solid in your math, word knowledge, arithmetic reasoning and paragraph comprehension, you will get a decent score.
oh and when u do the piss test they r not gonna be that serious and be over your neck, least the guy watchin me wasnt.pretty much the whole day is "go to this room and wait. stand out here and wait. go down that hallway give the man your paper work...and wait". i got pretty good at my signiature because i did it 500 times. meps: fun to do cause u meet different people and talk, but u would neva do it again. feel free to ask me any questions (that is if u give a damn about my experience) lol
jus got back from meps today. smh man. i sign up for the air force and i was there from 5;30 to about 5:00 pm. they were very short handed because many people took off because of MLK holiday. just a heads up, i dont know how they do it any where else but the depth perception test for your eys is bullshit. almost everyone failed it. thats all ima say about that. what else...oh ur gonna have to get naked and spread your butt cheeks. i dont know if females do this. this totally caught me off guard
Such a boring day. I flew threw the medical and physical fast. Got done with all of it at like 9:40 and talked to a Navy worker til 10 but had to wait another 2 hours to get my job. All worth it though, master at arms and don't ship out til August 14th!
@MarcusGoodspeed555 no. they make you do the duck walk and go through little exercises to make sure your joints don't crack too much and basically that you can do normal things. that's as far as it goes as for pt. Just a lot of inprocessing. that's it.

@grnbrt777 when I went I got to the hotel at like 4:30 P.M. and spent the night and woke up at 5 a.m. to get on a shuttle (van/ bus) and when we got there it was over by about 11 a.m.. so really 2 days but it only takes 1

@cantugabe Well you go to a hotel and the give you a free meal, so just bring a bottle, and order lemonade. and pour the lemonade in a bottle and drink it before you go to bed, when you wake up, don't eat breakfast because if you're nervous you get the shits (seriously), and peeing might be even harder, if they give you breakfast eat really light and drink as much water as possible. I'm gonna try holding my breath, closing my eyes, and hum. Hopefully itl work.
@cantugabe You're going to do great on it! If you are still in high school that's a bonus. I wish I was still in high school because half of the things they taught you will be on it. And I struggled like hell with auto mechanics and tools because I was raised by a single mom and whatever she wanted me to fix, I used the tool that I thought would be appropriate haha. Don't worry, I got a 70 on the meps. That's 70th percentile. Just take your time trust me, I rushed it. Getting picked up today.
@cantugabe Okay, what branch are you joining, just make sure that you can pick your job before you sign the contract and say your oath. Make sure that the job you pick is available to you. Trust me, they will give you an idea on what field you get into. Just do the best you can at the test. I'm at the hotel right now, going in tomorrow :). USN

USN. its funny because my dad suggested i look at navy reserves and i went to talk to a recruiter and active duty navy seemed more interesting. i think my dad kinda regrets suggesting it now but he supports my decision at the same time. what job are you looking at in the Navy? I want to get mass communication for photography but its a slim chance, i was also looking at Intelligence specialist.
@cantugabe USN, you pick your job. They will tell you what job you can get 100%, and what jobs you are qualified for. You have nothing to worry about :D

@cantugabe I took mine down in Albany, just drink a lottttt of water before they start taking people in to go pee. In around a half hour you will have to go pretty bad. I just went through it, and I'm in.
@cantugabe Look if there is anything on your medical records that your recruiter says not to, something small like ADD as a child, just tell them, because I took medication for it like 7 years ago, didn't say anything, and I feel pretty guilty about it, my recruiter told me not to say shit. :l
oh well yeah i never took any medication or had a surgery. i did thell him i used to smoke and he replied with "you mean you tried it just once?" and i said "well everynow and then" but he interupted me saying again "you just tried it once?" and i said yeah. i wanted to tell him to be honest so i won't have that fear later on but he told me not to mark it on the form

@450teamsuzuki It takes a 1-2 Months to get it out of your system, and id give it at least 3-4 month to be safe(since everyone is different) drink lots of water! clean your system...and you should be fine.

I have one question though, would signing onto the delayed enlistement programme mean that I could not be an officer? I'm worried because I have an offer to study a degree here in the UK and I want to become an officer.
@wussup331 Okay, so take my advice from an army recruit. It's great your going raf, and going for a degree.. but touch up on your knowledge BEFORE taking the RAF tests, but at the moment.. your knowledge sucks, ASVAB is american, MEPS is also american, we dont have anything called an ASVAB here, ofcourse you have entrance tests, but its not ASVAB. These things they DO test you on, they ask what you know about the joining up process.. so make sure you know next time:))

lol wow meps is not as bad as it sounds IF you are well rested,eat a good breakfast but (nothing to salty that will fuck up your blood pressure), all your paper work is correct, know that the motto of the day is hurry up and wait, and try to talk with some of the ppl there it kinda makes the time pass by and clean your ears if not they will do it for you and its not fun it fucking hurts like hell and remember JUST SAY NO to any crazy questions they ask you if not you may get DQ'd
@0nlyhalfevil333 my wife has these little bumps on her upper right arm, just dry skin i guess. Its pretty noticeable and she heads to meps monday. Did they say anything about your dry skin at MEPS?
@shawn2pimp It's true, the most (well one of the most) critical points of MEPS is If it's not a direct answer to the question they asked, dont mention it, dont point it out, pretend its not there. I remember my recruiter telling me, "its our job to get you in, its MEPS job to kick you out."
If it turns that the MOS I'm going for am I still required to swear in or do I just pack up and go home? I'm very adament about the the job type Im going for and I got a 95 on my ASVAB; what are the odds that the Army will have something open in the 35 series. I was hoping 35P or 35N. I'm still not really sure of the difference. Also is there any job field that I could go into that would prevent me from trying to go 18x. Or would they prefer me to just not change my MOS?
@drill4AF You don't take the PT in MEPS. You take the PT when you go to Boot. If you fail that you get sent to the "fatty camp" to improve on anything you need to work on. And you have to pass the PT before you start the actual BT.
You do take a quick medical exam, such as doing a duck walk and stuff, but not the running/pushups/situp deal.
Processing sucks balls, get to meps around 5 i didn't leave until 230. i hope to never do it again (although reception is the same thing only a week long...
i had one hell of a time at meps stayed over night at an awesome free hotel swam in a pool and relaxed in a hot tub oh and of course fucked up my oath lol i accidentally swore in with nat. guard rather than Marines.... oh well what they dont know wont hurt em ;)
MEPS fuckin blew huge donkey dick. nothing but waiting and waiting. i couldn't pee for the drug test so i drank tons of water in like a 5min period and threw it all up all over myself. The starts at 0415 and didn't finsh until 2000. The only part i enjoyed was when the doctor made me spread my cheeks and grab my sack...lol jkjk
@man11withaplan nah everyone working there was really nice to everybody...i get horrible stage fright and the rule is if you can't pee by 12pm you gotta come back and go through the whole day again just for the drug test. after i puked on myself i guess they felt bad for me so the doc said, we're not leaving this bathroom until you pee. so eventually i did and felt like a million bucks afterward
@timothyregi2 I scored a 74 and got a GT score or 120, its just that it doesn't matter in the long run depending upon your MOS. I mean I've got a bachelors degree but on average I'm around people who barely graduated high school and made Asvab scores of 50 or below. The plight of a Tanker in an Infantry unit.
Also, everybody that is bitching about waking up at 0415 or about how long and difficult their day was, you are in for a HUGE surprise when you actually become part of the military. MEPS is seriouslly one of the easiest things you'll do in your military career. So suck it up and drive on. This is the first tiny step in a long difficult process. HOOAH!
one thing they never tell you is that 99.9% of the ppl that work at meps are fucking assholes, they will go out of there way to treat you like shit. just try to ignore them and you will be ok.
the doctor found a burn scare on my shoulder, and ask what it was....i told him the truth that i burned myself with a cig when i was young and stupid(you know trying to impress girls and scars are cool)......he asked in the most serious manner "was I trying to kill myself"....i laughed....and he recommended me for a psych evaluation.......i was like are u fucking kidding me....(he was a 80 year old indian who could barely speak english.....MEPS is a fucken bullshit process
Never ever lean on a desk unless told to, and don't talk loudly keep your voices down, yes sir and yes ma'am everyone. If you do these you'll be ok if your going in and have questions send me an email.
I had to make 3 trips to meps at Fort Hamilton. Thank God I lived 20 minutes away. Each time there was a problem with my 28-07 form, which is for your medical prescreening. Just make sure you square everything away with your recruiter before you go. Otherwise youll be making 5 fuckin trips.
ok for all you people going to meps and if you where glasses DO NOT WHERE TINTED GLASSES! They gave me so much trouble about that. I was one of the last one to get done with meps cause i was arguing with them for like 20 minutes so i can take the eye exam. and HOOAH! and if if you got any questions about meps look me up of facebook my name is of course my youtube username.
I have ear gauges.... im going to meps on friday and my recruiter told me to hide my ears with my hair but wont they see them while they are looking in my ears or maybe i will have to put my hair up for some reason? idk but i really hope i dont get a dq just for my ears that would SUCK!

I live in the UK and I'm going to take the ASVAB in the next couple of months at an Air Force base here. I have one question though, would signing onto the delayed enlistement programme mean that I could not be an officer? I'm worried because I have an offer to study a degree here in the UK and I want to become an officer.

@wussup331 Okay, so take my advice from an army recruit. It's great your going raf, and going for a degree.. but touch up on your knowledge BEFORE taking the RAF tests, but at the moment.. your knowledge sucks, ASVAB is american, MEPS is also american, we dont have anything called an ASVAB here, ofcourse you have entrance tests, but its not ASVAB. These things they DO test you on, they ask what you know about the joining up process.. so make sure you know next time:))

lol wow meps is not as bad as it sounds IF you are well rested,eat a good breakfast but (nothing to salty that will fuck up your blood pressure), all your paper work is correct, know that the motto of the day is hurry up and wait, and try to talk with some of the ppl there it kinda makes the time pass by and clean your ears if not they will do it for you and its not fun it fucking hurts like hell and remember JUST SAY NO to any crazy questions they ask you if not you may get DQ'd

@0nlyhalfevil333 my wife has these little bumps on her upper right arm, just dry skin i guess. Its pretty noticeable and she heads to meps monday. Did they say anything about your dry skin at MEPS?

@shawn2pimp It's true, the most (well one of the most) critical points of MEPS is If it's not a direct answer to the question they asked, dont mention it, dont point it out, pretend its not there. I remember my recruiter telling me, "its our job to get you in, its MEPS job to kick you out."

If it turns that the MOS I'm going for am I still required to swear in or do I just pack up and go home? I'm very adament about the the job type Im going for and I got a 95 on my ASVAB; what are the odds that the Army will have something open in the 35 series. I was hoping 35P or 35N. I'm still not really sure of the difference. Also is there any job field that I could go into that would prevent me from trying to go 18x. Or would they prefer me to just not change my MOS?

@drill4AF You don't take the PT in MEPS. You take the PT when you go to Boot. If you fail that you get sent to the "fatty camp" to improve on anything you need to work on. And you have to pass the PT before you start the actual BT.
You do take a quick medical exam, such as doing a duck walk and stuff, but not the running/pushups/situp deal.

i had one hell of a time at meps stayed over night at an awesome free hotel swam in a pool and relaxed in a hot tub oh and of course fucked up my oath lol i accidentally swore in with nat. guard rather than Marines.... oh well what they dont know wont hurt em ;)

Study an ASVAB book at your nearest library b4 taking the test, prioritize math&English!
At the hotel there will be girls +a bunch of testosterone crazed kids yelling&acting out to impress them-don't join them
Avoid salty foods it spikes blood pressure&disqualifies you at medical
Medical is there to disqual you, so don't talk smack
Get good ASVAB scores so you can negotiate the job you want
Background checks are FBI investigations so don't lie

MEPS fuckin blew huge donkey dick. nothing but waiting and waiting. i couldn't pee for the drug test so i drank tons of water in like a 5min period and threw it all up all over myself. The starts at 0415 and didn't finsh until 2000. The only part i enjoyed was when the doctor made me spread my cheeks and grab my sack...lol jkjk

@man11withaplan nah everyone working there was really nice to everybody...i get horrible stage fright and the rule is if you can't pee by 12pm you gotta come back and go through the whole day again just for the drug test. after i puked on myself i guess they felt bad for me so the doc said, we're not leaving this bathroom until you pee. so eventually i did and felt like a million bucks afterward

@timothyregi2 I scored a 74 and got a GT score or 120, its just that it doesn't matter in the long run depending upon your MOS. I mean I've got a bachelors degree but on average I'm around people who barely graduated high school and made Asvab scores of 50 or below. The plight of a Tanker in an Infantry unit.

Also, everybody that is bitching about waking up at 0415 or about how long and difficult their day was, you are in for a HUGE surprise when you actually become part of the military. MEPS is seriouslly one of the easiest things you'll do in your military career. So suck it up and drive on. This is the first tiny step in a long difficult process. HOOAH!

the doctor found a burn scare on my shoulder, and ask what it was....i told him the truth that i burned myself with a cig when i was young and stupid(you know trying to impress girls and scars are cool)......he asked in the most serious manner "was I trying to kill myself"....i laughed....and he recommended me for a psych evaluation.......i was like are u fucking kidding me....(he was a 80 year old indian who could barely speak english.....MEPS is a fucken bullshit process

I had to make 3 trips to meps at Fort Hamilton. Thank God I lived 20 minutes away. Each time there was a problem with my 28-07 form, which is for your medical prescreening. Just make sure you square everything away with your recruiter before you go. Otherwise youll be making 5 fuckin trips.

I have ear gauges.... im going to meps on friday and my recruiter told me to hide my ears with my hair but wont they see them while they are looking in my ears or maybe i will have to put my hair up for some reason? idk but i really hope i dont get a dq just for my ears that would SUCK!
