  • I loved this movie as a kid, but watching it as an adult makes me realize how uptight Mary Poppins was.. Ugh. Especially in this scene.

  • The Mad Hatter.. I mean, Uncle Albert is high as a fucking kite. Maybe its his un-birthday?

  • My right ear enjoyed the nostalgic memories from my childhood. It's quite hilarious how much reference to drugs and other adult content Disney used in films back then. lol

  • @HypocriteSkeleton3 Oh how about the left ear

  • old dick van dyke isnt getting any tonight from mary poppins. but he had childish fun anyways

  • Hello Mr. Mad Hatter

  • @BlackPhoenix00280 Actually what he/she means is in other words.....she needs to lighten up instead of being uptight and pompous.

  • Shoot. I just realized Mary Poppins uses the force..

  • 24 ppl hate to laugh and sink straight to china...... Or H E double hockey stick

  • I've seen him somewhere?

  • Uncle Albert sounds exactly like the Mad Hatter from Disney's classic 1950s Alice in Wonderland :D

  • @TheJokersBunny It was the same actor who voiced the mad hatter

  • In 1969 when Paul McCartney wrote Uncle Albert for his Ram album, no doubt he had watched this part of mary Poppins. Damn that Julie Andrews is a babe. When this movie came out, I was 10 years old and that glimmer of a thought of how pretty Julie was hit me. Can you imagine your friends coming over and your mother is Julie Andrews?

  • The Daily Show: you make me love to laugh!!! ha ha ha!!! Yeah!!!

  • He's in such 'high' spirits!

  • @AnarithMoon whoops, sory about that double posting

  • Well, he's in 'high' spirits!

Speaking of sight, it reminds me of me brother. He's got a nice cushy job in a watch factory...

In a watch factory? What does he do?

He stands about all day and makes faces! :D :D :D Best joke ever!

  • I wish when my boyfriend gets high of laughing he would float so I can laugh then I be floating to lol :D

  • OK, Now I see why my FB friend sent this to me to cheer me up.

  • RIP Ed Wynn. There will never be another like him

  • Always love this scene.

  • Spit spot

  • 237-240 ha

  • This was always my favorite and least favorite scene in the movie, because it's hilarious, but I didn't like it because I always wanted to join them.

  • @middleC17 This reminds me of "The Laughing Place" from Songs Of The South. Both of those movies have one thing in common, that the characters are canidates for the Laughing Academy.

  • I only just realised how this is totally about weed... they can't stop laughing and literally 'get high'

  • What's the name of his other leg?

    That gets me everytime!

  • Sure do miss Ed Wynn! He was delightful, in everything!

  • wish we could all float when we laugh

  • If that happened outside, how high would he go?

  • @waterskippers That depends on how long it would take you to think of something depressing. If not, you would go all the way into the darkness of outer space!

  • Mary: It's time to go home.

    Jane: Oh, that is sad.

    Gotta love this movie.

  • just genious. "it's time to go home" and that hits the spot. wonderful.

  • LOL ;)

  • Funny!!!!!

  • I love to laugh, loud & clear............

  • I love to laugh and get high!

  • This movie never gets old.

  • Classic !

  • Ed Wynn is amazingly funny. I've been copying his voice for years after watching all the Disney movies he's been in.

  • "Others just twitter like birds..."

No Bert, we twitter because Stephen Fry told us too

  • Some people just blast out with a HA!!

  • I love Bert <3 :)

  • "others they twitter like birds. heeheehee-heeeheehee-heeheeehee"

"U know ur as bad as he is?"

    "Then there's the kind that can't make up their mind. mm-hmm-hmm. HA-HA-HA. hee-hee-hee. ho-ho-ho. hee-hee-ha-heh?"

    lmao

  • At 3:02 to 3:06, The lyric was actually, "And a Ha-Ha too."

  • Dammit Bert! you're making it much more contagious!

  • Am I the only one who always thought Mary Poppins was a condescending snob? This scene shows it, judging people's laughter. Practically perfect my foot.

  • @idiotsloveboxes we all judge

  • I think that Mr.Magorium (and his wonder emporium) copied this man, if you watch clips, he sounds exactly the same.

  • Mad Hatter FTW! <3

  • At 5:40 when Mary asks Bert if he wants sugar, he uses an American accent.

  • When Bert is offered sugar by Mary Poppins, he refuses without the cockney accent.

  • i adore the costumes. i wish social etiquette was such that people still wore beautiful coats and hats like this.

  • I keep watching 1:47 - 3:00 over and over. It's hilarious! Especially Dick Van Dyke!

  • I always loved Ed Wynn and this song as a kid!

  • 21 people don't love to laugh.

  • He's drunk...

  • AMAZING SONG AND FILM!!

  • Keeeepppp laughing!

    Merry Christmas!

  • You cut out the wooden leg joke!!!

  • 21 people don't like to laugh

  • this movie is classic! <3

  • Mary was right: It IS contagious...

*tries so desperatly not to laugh and fails*

  • LOL

  • Oh my. I can't stop laughing! I hope I don't go flying around soon...actually, scratch that, I do. 83

(I seem to be a twittering laugher heh.)

  • I love to laugh hehehe

  • Ed Wynn is the SHIT!!!!!!

  • @rrpauldoran

I agree, he is absolutely amazing. Totally brilliant! " That's alright with me but how good are you are catching mice?" lol!!

  • How can anybody not laugh while watching Dick Van Dyke floating around a room laughing and singing? XD

  • JAYZ HAS NO HEART- ELIJAH HAS FOUND HIM TO BE LACKING LOVE- HE IS DEATH.. SO HE NEEDS TO REPENT.. RIGHT NOW... ELIJAH AND ALL OF HEAVEN ARE LAUGHING AT JAYZ-- MAN PLANS.. GOD LAUGHS.. HAHA WINS AGAIN...

  • Bert: HAHAHAHAHA....!!!

Mary: You're no help at all!

    Bert: *shuts up*

  • Like this comment if you used to believe as a child you would float to the ceiling if you laughed too hard or too long :)

    I DID!!

  • Twitter et al- It's what you don't know that should cause fireworks that dont make a sound that should scare you and think what the world would be like if the sinful kingdom aka THE UNITED STATES- was judged righteously- for we are Amos 9:8 and if Twitter is not careful there will not be a USA to wake up to... So I dare Twitter-MAKE ME LAUGH- YOU ARE THE BIGGEST JOKE THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN

  • Who the hell is Twitter to Almighty God? What a joke! Twitter makes God laugh

  • HAHA WINS- OR GOD DESTROYS THE GENTILES WHO CAN'T STAND IN FIRE

  • You know my mom used to say 'spit spot' at me to. ;-)

  • Man plans- God laughs. JayZ is a joke

  • I can see why Uncle Albert is way up in the air and everyone else along with him (except for Mary Poppins, she was pure magic). It was because when you laugh and if you laugh long enough, it lifts your spirits up, not literally like in this picture, but just about. It has nothing to with drug use or drug abuse or anything like that, it's just that when you hear something that's funny, that's what it does to you. Mary is there to literally bring him back down to reality, right back to Earth.

  • I love Mary's accent!!

  • is uncle albert the voice of the mad hatter?

  • @melmelmelmelmel12695

    Yes, i think so

  • Damn Uncle Albert, you high as hell!

  • This song screams me all over!!!!!!!!!

  • Try to explain that, science.

  • Try watching this when you are stoned lol, I miss those days

  • I love Mary Poppins! This stuff makes my heart smile:)

  • Some of Dick's facial expressions here 2:36 remind me of when Jim carrey did the Grinch... I wonder if Jim was ever influenced by Van Dyke's acting?

  • thank's for share this video with english subtitles: it's very interesting see the differences between different languages!...in any language...it's so hylarious! :D

  • What if they were outdoors? The 911 operator would never believe what happened.

  • OMFG! This is all symbollic of drug addiciton and abuse!

Uncle Albert had a problem with drug use and Poppins disapproves, but ultimately we see it can be a lot of fun. Look closely when she says "Some people laugh through their noses, sounding something like this" and then she makes a face like she just snorted some coke.

I think there really was intentional symbolism here and that the producers may have been drug users.

  • It's only fitting that the voice of the Mad Hatter would do this song.

  • @indiedarlingashley Ooooh! I've never noticed that before! Well....i was10 when i last saw this movie. So, its understandable.

  • tHIS GUY WAS THE VOICE OF mAYOR mCcHEESE IN THE mCDONALD'S COMMERCIALS.hIS VOICE ROCKS

  • "But how are you at catching mice?" LOLOLOL

  • 'Some only blast'

    PAH!!!

    Haha!

  • This scene is so unhinged and bizarre. I love it. They don't make them like any more.

  • 2:20 to 2:25

    ROFL

  • Seriously, why can't we have more Disney movies like this? This was the time when they were fantastic! Nowadays we have more innocent and child-like movies that older people can't enjoy as much. This movie is timeless!

  • @rainsizzle13 Seriously good point .These days they're all PC and inoffensive. I don't think they'll ever get close to the heights of Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka again.

  • @Celestial: Yeah these two have a great chemistry in acting especially the Penquin song as well.

  • He's laughing and he's high? Hmm....

  • It would be embarrassing when he has to pee and he's flying above them all.

  • LOL 2: 14 to 2:44

  • @Stealthfirecomet '...can't make up their minds *laughs insanely* haha'

  • the guy who plays uncle albert, also plays the salesman in the Twilight episode "The Perfect Pitch"

  • @mario5733 Well, it was actually called "One For The Angels," but you're right. He also played the grandfather who believed that if his grandfather's clock ever stopped ticking, he'd literally die. That was the Twilight Zone episode "Ninety Years Without Slumbering."

  • I wonder whose uncle Albert is.

  • I wonder if they all wore harnesses? Imagne how you would feel after an hour of being in the air.

  • Was that guy Albert the voice of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland?

  • 0:37-0:39 Michael and Jane's face XD!! Michael looks at Jane like Uncle Albert is High as a Kite, whatever he's on I want some. Jane nods in agreement

  • It Albert the voice of the Mad Hatter in Disney's Alice in Wonderland?

  • @missjo797 and tigger too I think.
