This song is pretty cool, and the album art is trippy. You've got the old school map of the Old World, and a photo of a galaxy. What always interested me, is that lots of people think we're going to navigate the void in a mechanical spaceship. That's like trying to cross the Pacific Ocean in a freakin' Gondola. I would consider this to be a logistical hazard.
This is now the official theme song of my sales department. My interpretation of the lyrics are to go ahead and come unhinged, kick ass everywhere you go.
Close your eyes - this music puts you on a train that flies through clouds and mountains. Every one in the world stands next to your route cheering you on as you ride the roller coaster while you high-five them. The air breezes past your hair and your stomach goes up and down in your chest and makes feel like you about to cum. Bad azz song.
Damn Canadians! For me, it was Rush and Triumph. Then Saga made its debut on the FM airwaves. All I can say is the following: Even here in San Diego, I toast em all with a Molson (along with Bob and Doug), say "eh, hoser", and watch the Maple Leaf games and Toronto Blue Jays...all while wearing my 5 Golden Tukes.
Such a great song. I first heard this coming home from college while listening to my default classic rock station (because honestly, the good songs comes from the past, with only a few exceptions). I was absolutely enthralled by this beautiful melody. It's just one of those songs that touches the soul, at least in my case.
People are so angry all the time......It's not our generation's fault we were born into horrible music, so don't be raging when there is nothing we can do about it. I was lucky enough to be raised into great music because of my dad and mom.
I was in Albquerque when it came out, going to the Indian college. I lived the 80's music and it was the best years for music. Trust me. Great song thanks
This album came out in my Senior year in High School. I didn't think that ANY other album made after 1981, could be as fantastic as "Worlds Apart". This was back in the days when artists knew how to play their instruments to their full potential. Long live SAGA!
awesome song.... awesome band i have played guitar hero and its awesome also.........guitar hero is one of the ways to get these young guys to know what real music is..... the 80s of course
'83>>> I was 15... wish you kids could experience this... unadultered FASCINATION with a NEW song , by a NEW band, with a NEW girl by your side...... had to FIND where your friends were "hangin' "... no texting or cell phones >>LOL "White Roads/Legion Lake/ Ellen's house" {inside joke}
It's funny, when I was younger, when I heard my mom listening to this kind of music, I hated it, I thought it was annoying, and ugh, so irritating. Now that I am older, I listen to this stuff cause it's the only stuff I can enjoy. This shit we get now a days, I feel like the generation just under me is truly unfortunate. The music I grew up was... okay... but man I just wish I was back in the 70s...
I remember this song!!!! i too heard it inthe summer PARTY!!!! Fond Memoriies in the eighties!!!!!! Goota Love them!!!!!!!!!!! No one could stop me now!!!! tonite im on the lose!!!!!!!

From the Last Poets and Gil Scott Heron to Public Enemy and Ice Cube. The music said something. But then suburban kids with no grounding in the urban experience took up the music, and record company A&R people began picking acts not on the basis of what they had to say, but how cool the kids at the mall would think they'd be for listening to it.

My life must be unusual for these days, because it was basically pressure from my friends, early on, who steered me away from rap and pop and got me on to all of the great rock from the '60s onward. 90 % of the songs like this that I know came to me from classic rock radio (yes I listen to a lot of radio), and do not play those rock band games, though I don`t see what`s wrong with learning good music that way. Used to listen to this before our football games in high school, made me want to kill someone! I like the song but the music just makes you angry and gets you pumped up. This song just screams early 80's! lol
...never really listened to lyrics, but when i started, i was really curious what this song was about...i love the words to this track, kind of uplifting for me...and with the classic 80s sound, makes for a fun song as well...
Fall. 1981, 8th grade and this song kicks major balls on MTV...... you little motherfuckers of the Y generation and beyond better get a motherfucking clue about this other worldly rock that kicks your pussy asses back to the future when rock was rock and roll was roll....................
@CHHSE1986 thats right brother, you tell these young fuckers, thinking they know rock music just cause of faggot ass guitar hero and pussy rock band bullshit, real rock like this came out on the radio or mtv, not a sorry fucking video game.

@ClamMaster2000x Your rap crap is shit....How many rappers can actually read music yet alone play a guitar. Yet alone...READ ...Period! It disgusts me and probably others in my generation..(born in the 60s) That all you in your generation only know how to say*** bitch*** when you know we are right.
@irnmadn99 . amen brutha- fukkin kids are a sorry pathetic bunch these days - listening to the sounds bites of our drunken teen years- the 80`s were the shit ....just add booze/drugs-no filler and the police were mega relaxed then...
@irnmadn99 What's wrong with you? Rock band/guitar hero have given these songs new fans, allowing a new generation to appreciate them. Maybe you would prefer it if they were never in any videogames at all and they can fade into obscurity forever
@jjws Guitar Hero made bandweather fans not gained new ones. You won't ever see Pink Floyd nor Genesis on these games as their music also requires keyboards (real synthesizers like the Oberheim, Moog, Yamaha and the ARP types, not the wussified Korg bullshit (Kurzweils are the only ones that can recreate the classic sounds properly)).
Hey..Shut the Hell up!!!!! I'm 14 and i was lucky enough to have my dad raise me on Rock and Roll so don't be biased and say "This generation are idiots"

Brings me back to the summer of '83. Just got my license, had a '70 Chevelle with a 396, cute girlfriend, cheap gas (under $1). Sit at a red light late night, smoke the tires, race whoever for fun. No road rage idiots. No one calling or texting every 30 seconds. Simpler times! Something the young ones will ever experience. Love my life now with my wife and sons but very happy I can look back fondly.
@Shang1966 I'm 21, I was born in 1990, and for me, the 80's never ended. I saw Crue on their Feelgood tour without even being alive. I was raised on the 80's, I fashion myself after the 80's, and to me, I regret nothing. Don't feel bad that we'll never truly experience the eighties and its glory, because I'm still living it, and loving it.
@EiGH7BA11 thats cool, dont sweat not growng up in the 80s. the 80s were not as great as they are being made out to be. i always shake my head at kids raving about the 80s. Your fake 80s are probably more fun than the actual decade.
@screwdigitaldish thank you haha, im trading my 88 camaro for a 77 camaro lol with a straight 6 3spd automatic im stoked! its white so you probably know where this is heading! Boys in the bright white sports car haha
@Shang1966 < Same here, had a 1968 442 with a 1967-425 engine, yep cheap gas, and a great looking babe with me. Races were more for fun than pride. Had a blast back then.
@Shang1966 Same here, had a 1968 442 with a 1967-425 engine, yep cheap gas, and a great looking babe with me. Races were more for fun than pride. Had a blast back then.
@Shang1966 You are so right. Life was so much simpler then. Had my first car in '83, a '70 Nova with a straight 6. LMFAO. A friend helped me put a 283 out of a '64 Chevelle in it. My first V8. I was in in heaven. Stepped it up a notch next by buying a '55 Chevy with a 350 LT1. Now the fun began. I loved those days, hanging out with all of the gearheads and lovin' life.
@Shang1966 Amen brother! I had a '68 Camaro with a 396 and we cruised its wheels off summer '86. Twenty five years later still got the car. Great times. Great song.
Wow this is a great tune from back in the day. I remember having MTV on and hearing this, And in all honesty, I thought it was Boston. Then I saw the video and saw it was, SAGA. I was not a big fan but they had a great sound and this tune rocked. Talented musicians if you ask me. Thanks for the post. Long live the 80's..
I saw these guys in concert at the Newport Bar on High Street in Columbus, Ohio back around '85. They were every bit as good live as in the studio. They had like 6 keyboards spread across the stage. Great show. Also caught The Outfield and BTO at the Newport back then.
The first things I moved into my dorm room were my stereo and LPs. I cranked this very album while moving in the rest of my stuff. Good times and good memories.
says it all about the 80's. We were having fun on our time not all the time like todays kids who have no work ethic or sense of family! You missed out on the greatest decade in modern history but Im sure you reality cr5ap will see you through...lol!!!!!
I gave up cable TV way back in 1994. Currently, I receive two channels via antenna and that's it. I don't miss TV at all, especially since we have YT now, LOL!
@griffislo LOL! I remember all too well! MTV has gone to hell in a hand basket since then. I recall watching music videos back then. There wasn't all these 'reality' shows!
The 80's was, as we used to say..."such a blast!" I think it was like the modern times version of The Renaissance of fashion and sounds musically, very electronic, and very sci fi too...
If you lived through the 80s you were either an airhead Reaganite or waiting for better days. What people forget is that, *like any era*, most of what came through the radio and TV was crap, which is what made the good stuff stand out.
In other words, if you're nostalgic for the 80s, you either weren't there or were part of the problem.
This song is in my personal TOP TEN from the 80s. Unfortunately I couldn't afford the LP at the time (I didn't had an allowance niether an income as many of my generation who were still in high school). I bought the CD in 1993, but the funny thing is that I bought it just for one song!!! Nowadays thanks to Napster or iTunes, you can have the songs that you like. I still have the CD, though I just like this song, I don't want to sell it on second hands. I feel I will lose a bit of my life!!!
YEAHHHHHH!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK TO THAT ERA MYSELF. LET'S JUST PRAY WE'LL GET THE CHANCE TO HAVE GROOVEY MUSIC LIKE THIS IN THE FUTURE. WHAT ARE CHILDREN ARRE MISSING. I M SERIOUS.
Did anyone notice the album art? Her right eyeglass has some antiquated map, and her left eyeglass has a photo from deep field astronomy. In addition to the song, I thought the art was pretty sweet. Worlds Apart indeed.
Hey! I've always loved this album cover from back when I first saw it back in the 80's! Keep in mind though that this was taken before Hubble Deep Field pictures were taken. Worlds Apart indeed.
LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

No children, the 70's were the best. The best feature that 80's had was "One hit wonders". Done by dudes w/allot of make-up.

I saw these guys in concert at the Newport Bar on High Street in Columbus, Ohio back around '85. They were every bit as good live as in the studio. They had like 6 keyboards spread across the stage. Great show. Also caught The Outfield and BTO at the Newport back then.

Oh, yeah, and Saga rocks...
