I don't get the people ridiculing this totally as a 'toy'. There is a new version of this for around £100 now with a built-on sound-card. But granted, I don't know how to dj and beat-match at all. If I reverted back to the old turntable routine, it's going to cost me 2 decks, a mixer, speakers and plus, heaps of records - we're talking a grand which I don't have!! I prefer something like this for my past-time and pleasure!

@Wil8789 - No, this is definitely not for scratching. You need to spend about $500 in order to get good scratching ability on anything really unless you go with analog turntables or CD decks...

@Wil8789 You gotta find some Technics for that or the V7s which both run you about $500 a piece. I hear theres a Numark turntables that are pretty cheap but are still decent, but ive never tried them so im not sure how well they work. Sadly, Pro DJ gear will drain your bank account. But if it didnt, then everybody would be a DJ.

I'm having problems with windows XP sp3, mixvibes doesn't detect the device. But it works when i use it on a MAC.

Are people actually buying this? I guess that's what djs said back in 98 when i bought the gemini scratch master box lol. Seems wierd that this product is supposed to teach djs to mix and it doesnt have pitch sliders on it. sigh...

@AllAboutTheZee - I've never used it but judging by the pics, its the same exact thing. If you think you are going to be serious about DJing, then you might want to save up a little more so you can do more mixing with a better machine. This is really a toy...

@luist6mazda - The unit should turn on when it is connected to the USB port of the computer and the software is installed. It does not turn on by itself. Please read the instructions, and if there is still a problem, then return it for a new one...

@ESKYMOMUSIC Because that will not separate the sound between what you hear in the headphones vs what you hear in the speakers. They would be the exact same thing if you use a splitter.

@guillaumepii - I have heard on the forums that the Griffin DJ Cable works, but I have not tested it myself. Try checking out the dj forums or getting in touch with the Griffin company to check compatibility.

@jkillah1985 - Not sure if this can do that...You can use an additional program or external sound capture device for recording. This is just for the basics... If you want to record, there are other and more pricier options out there for you.

Everybody has to start somewhere. Pair this with a nice 2-channel USB audio interface like the Native Instruments Audio 2 or something like the Echo Indigo DJ and you're set to rock anywhere. Channel faders, proper EQ, and better software would make this a nice kit. Somebody needs to make software for Ubuntu, since it's what I run on my second laptop.

ive never heard of one of these untill now but you dont really need this if u wanna start off djing because this wont be any good so if something is not good to use how could some one no if wanting to be a dj is right for them by using this,,,,,,,b4 i turned to pro mixers i used a cheep mixer in uk money it cost 200 pound and it was crap and i almost gave up on music then i used a pioneer and i loved it and i bought pro stuff then

@corfox011 - You can do very basic mixing between two tracks on this device. You won't be able to do any PROPER DJ-ing without the use of a headphonen port, but for people who don't have money, they can get one of these for only 35 pound and learn the basics before moving up to something better.

@phdj69 - You can go with a Hercules controller that can do that if cost is your only concern. They are priced to sell. Also the Vestax Typhoon is an inexpensive controller that we reviewed on our site at our blog site at the top link. we also have an unboxing video.
