i just did my first krav maga class and learnt a good takedown involving grabbing and twisting the head. and it actually worked on the massive guy who i was paired with.

It looks like techniques against unprepared;) Most of techniques in the video woudn't be so effective if the opponent have some basic martial skills, say two years in boxing. As noone would stand so stright.

@Antifacio hes standing straght in order for the teacher to show the techniques .. I can tell you one thing, Krav Maga takes you from 0 to 60 much quickly than any other martial art and its soley designed to be used on the street or in violent situations by multiple attackers, it works, its tough as hell and if you are a little bit unhinged a whole load of fun. Think SWAT but instead of guns you are using every part of your body as a weapon.

@Antifacio the only TV involved in Krav Maga is the one smash into your opponents face, there are no rules in Krav, it is not a sport nor will it ever be. Krav is about simultaneous defence and attack with absolute aggression delivering maximum damage in the shortest period of time, theres not holding back in Krav

If you're very close to the opponent as Roy is .. those kind of punches would have enough impact. No doubt about that. With the distance increasing, straight punch becomes a better option than the hook sorts.

watch "Silat" martial art. Its nice too. Krav maga is a mix of many different ancient types of fightings.

Same as Silat. Its just another name.

This protection fights helps a lot, but if somebody has experience with a knife or something, you won´´t be able to do so much with this tricks. If the oponent is clever enough then you can play Rambo how much you want. For sure its a great thing to know how to protect oneselves.

@Azarel011 Yeah as Jew I definitely wanna take up some Krav Maga when I get to the States. Never know who you'd run into, drunk frat guys. Most martial arts are mixes of everything. Its so pointless to have different names for all of them. Martial Arts is a very symbiotic subject.

@CrolerCSM Yeah what he's showing is basiclly how to incapacitate someone FAST. the kicks are designed to break the legs, the elbows and punches are designed to really screw up your ability to stand up or they can KO. that elbow to the throat can be leathal.

@Mider999 Although the throat is definitely a target, I think he was focusing on the eyes sockets to close up the eye, breaking the jaw, and definitely the most painful, rupturing the ear drum.

yes, basic anatomy mechanics are beutiful.

same with arms, twist them in direction most likely to leave em open to snapping joints.

oh and the jaw weak points along the side, also the bottom ribs, the armpits etc.
