nonesense! We use the lift oft the kite for flying, so the hangtime is at least ten times as long as shown here. You are attached to the kite with a harnest. If you hold the kite in your hands like this you are unhooked. This is only done a few seconds before doing an unhooked trick, after landing you hook back in. If you crash with the kite unhooked it flys away. Last but not least at kite surfing you go 90° to the wind and not downwind as you can tell by the position of the kites in this clip

Im a windsurfing coach personally but spend alot of time around kitesurfers and this is a joke!
