@verdiguy: I wholeheartedly agree! It is definitely amongst the top 5 best performances I've heard over the last 40 years This performance of Bruckner's 5th should be posted in its ENTIRETY at this same hi-def standard.
@MrVargasesteban There is only a finite amount of notes available to musicians. Add probabilities and you get a good chance that any chain of notes in a song has already been used elsewhere. Being a lover of varied musical styles, I encounter that rather often. You try to learn to play a song, and it appears that such or such parts sound like something out of another song. Not ruling out that Jack White might have heard this, but it could be purely coincidental. Would like to hear it from him
That flute/clarinet (I can't tell) player is having a ball man!
I mean, look at him at 1:14-1:17
He jumps around a little when he plays.

Yes yes, you can all read wikipedia to know White Stripes based their riff from this symphony. Now hush up and listen.

Brilliant counterpoint, and what a majestic opening (First Movement.) I prefer this to the LP's 1998 recording. :)
Bravo.

No kidding! Did Bruckner copy it according to you?

@callasnuts Don't be upset. It's openly acknowledged that Seven Nation Army's riff was inspired by Bruckner's theme.

Would it be possible to post the first
three movements of this symphony?
This is a wonderful performance.

@machinist18 i thought this was the coolest riff in the world, but now i see it has nothing original in it
