  • I was born in Derby [The Big Apple]. I spent several years in and around London but decided to come back a few years ago... ...on arrival, the words of the old Tom Jones/Jerry Lee Lewis classic came to mind... "...The old home town looks the same/ Still pissin' down with rain..." Up the Rams!!

  • Never thought I would miss the place but how wrong was I. Beautiful city to live in.

  • Excellent! The building at 3:16 I'm sure in the sixties it was the the bus drivers rest room. In the days when nearly all the buses terminated at the market place.

  • how elegant and soothing, im proud of derby, it can be very beautiful, but this catches the beauty we dont always see as residents

    simply lovely

  • Thanks, Glad you like what I've done.

  • I studied in Derby 1996-1999, brilliant times at Derby Uni, I think of Britpop when I think of Derby but the main tune I think of is White Town - Your Woman, the guy was a Derby Uni student.

Just listened to it a few seconds ago, the video has scenes of Derby city centre in it (it'sdown at the mo but I still recall the vid)

  • That would be "Jyoti Mishra", yes several bits, amongst them was ontop of Duckworth Square, now demolished.

  • That was so beautiful I cried, I moved from Derby 7yrs ago aged 22 and I so miss it now.

  • Thanks.

  • Does anybody know the title of the song ? I think i´ve heard it in a film ....

  • Its "Any other name" by Thomas Newman.

  • its the nspcc advert music

  • derby looks beautiful at nite :)

  • I think this is great! Andy is clearly very proud of Derby. I've looked at many of his pictures on the Internet aswell as Youtube videos. I live in London but have relatives there (in Chad) and visit from time to time. I discovered it has the oldest park in England - said to be model for Central Park, New York. I visited it). I really enjoyed walking around Derby with my mapbook last time I was there. Derby is a cool place. Everyone should be as proud of where they are from, as Andy is of Derby.

  • Thanks for your kind comments.

I hope to create this slideshow in high resolution on my broadband section soon, keep an eye out for that.

  • Just to say what superb photos you have taken of our town Derby, they are brilliant. The music was great too!! Look forward to seeing more.

  • Nightlife? Here was me expecting Baileys, Tiffanys or even 'Clouds' which was up from the Spot! I think I am thirty years out of date....

Seriously Andy, you are truly passionate about Derby and it shows in your work.

PLEASE keep up the excellent work!

  • Very nice.

  • Ooh no sadler gate? Vernon gate? Very good though!

  • Some great shots there. Just one criticism, no collection of Derby-at-night photos is really complete without a photo of McTurks...
