Disney did a gret job with this movie! Reunited a lot of theories and create great characters (Specially Milo and Princess Kida). The sceneries are very beautiful and the soundtrack brilliant! I really love it! To me, it´s much better than "Aladdin"...

Kida's mother kinda was called to the crystal forever to look over the city, she didn't die, but because when there's trouble, a person from the royal family must protect the city, and that's when kida's mom comes in. Which sucks.

In the beginning, there is DEFINITELY a nuclear or huge explosion. The king describes later in the movie that he used the power of the crystal to create a massive weapon, which was used incorrectly, and the crystal, having a mind of its own sought means to create the shield that keep the inner city safe. I believe the city was sinking purposefully, or maybe the volcano beneath them collapsed, anywho Atlantis somehow ended up underground where Milo finds them.

That idea could work very well, but the story of Noah was based on an event that happened in Iraq 5-6 thousand years ago. The Tigris and Euphrates flooded, making, what would seem like the whole world to the people living there all flooded. The Jewish people did migrate to Canaan (Israel) from the city of Ur (In Iraq) and most likely brought their stories with them.

in the event of extreme danger, those floating "king" crystals will choose either a random person wearing those special necklaces or someone of royal blood, i'm not sure of details.

essentially, one person is sacrificed to protect that part of atlantis while the rest die outside
