ok ..philippine martial art is awarded as 1 of the most useful martial arts in the world ..you can easly apply it in everyday life ..you dont need swords or stuffs ....philippine martial arts is used by US military for their self defense up to now ..unlike some chinese shit that only looks good in movies ..

I train in both styles as well as European and I must say the similarities are more than the differences. I will also say that the internal way of manipulating a sword(or body) helps alot, but in the end it will depend on the skill and will of the practitioner. This escrimador does not seem to be as well trained as the jian player.

What a shame that we Chinese use light weight foam toys like Nerf "Weapons" as swords. No one in European Historical Swordsmanship does this, just take a look at Turniej szabli pojedynek I for just ONE example. It is about time we grow up & use real weight, solid weapons like the Traditional Chinese Sword League uses for its tournaments.

An Eskrimador is not only limited to his sticks. He can utilize a variety of weapons at hand (longswords like the kampilan, panabas, knives, shortswords etc.) . Besides the one fighting the wudang swordsman, is not really that experienced .

Importantly, it all boils down to the level of experience a fighter or swordsman (in this case) has...

Are you not wasting energy on pretty forms rather than on actually trying to end the fight?All martial arts so seek the maximum effect for minimal effort. That is why I say Chinese swordsmanship is poor in comparison with other forms of fencing. Its focus is too much on beauty rather than practical techniques.Study European or Japanese fencing and you shall see what it means to wield a sword.
